There is ZERO reason to apologize for that comment about different ethnicities dominating boxing at various times.
If that’s really why he was fired.....Showtime is full of bull feces.

Pretty stupid. His comments weren't controversial, and I applaud Paulie for not apologizing for them.

While things have become way way too PC, I don't think he was a very good announcer and I don't find him to be very articulate. He got the boot for the wrong reason though.

I think Paulie is a solid commentator. I always liked him better in that role than I did as a boxer. He's still working for Sky in England so he ain't going anywhere.

“it’s no longer the time of the African American anymore in boxing.”
That's a dumb statement. I wouldn't have fired him over it though.
Saying there are a lower % of African American top boxers, due to many factors, including top boxers from Eastern Europe and the UK would have been better.

Paulie called it in the interview when he said if white guy said it he would be called a racist and lose a contract...he just didn't realize he was talking about himself. Terrible PC BS strikes again.

Ya, who da thunk that a bunch of dudes running a broadcast of guys battering each others brains silly would actually be such snowflakes
Maybe after firing Paulie they all had a healing cry together and painted each others nails, just like the dudes who threw their rattles to the womans boxing thread

2020 is amazing. This has been building for a while tho. Ever wonder why you haven’t seen a funny comedy in at least 6 years? Because you’re not allowed to be funny anymore.

Funny enough they mentioned him on the hearn bill Saturday saying hoping he is doing well or something on them lines. I think Paulie is best bar none and I we're nt Paulie fan boy as a boxer. He explains boxing from the boxer view as well as watching it as a judge. I think it is a discasful the way people turned on him

What did he even say controversial? The world is utterly insane.

it's obviously ridiculous if true, i understand sensitivity towards racism etc, but these days it's reached a level where you're basically walking a tightrope over a sharktank of wokesters looking to be outraged over any little thing. identity politics has become so nauseating
the media is absolutely obsessed with stoking racial division too and love to turn any little thing into " omg race warz!!! "

Malignaggi’s comments were historically accurate, though he could have conveyed the information in a more appropriate manner.
I previously provided proof in this thread to justify the factual accuracy of Malignaggi’s claims.
There’s no correlation between historical reality and political correctness / extreme “wokeness”.
No one should attempt to rewrite or ignore history, simply because the truth is far too “offensive” for their fragile souls to comprehend.
Anyone deeply offended by Malignaggi’s factually-accurate statements, which cannot possibly be refuted, are fückïng imbecile fragile snowflake türdś!

It's basically become a topic -- gender / sexuality is obviously another one -- that you're not supposed to discuss at all unless you're doing it to just reiterate certain pre-approved 'correct' words and phrases.
