Quite a few lads born in the republic fought for the title I believe. Obviously a lot from the north have

Herbie Hide and Henry Akinwande; Howard Eastman. I assume this will be a mostly post-WWII phenomenom.

Akinwande never fought for the British title. Hide went down the WBC Intl route and vacated British after beating Murray, Akinwande went down the Commonwealth/EBU route.

Forget who the British champ at the time was - Lewis for a time. Big Bad Oyebole (Born in Nigeria). Welch (briefly) then Francis for a while but Hide and Henry had already hit the heady heights of the WBO by then.

Prior to that, Trevor Hughroy Currie (Jamaica).

David Pearce. How it went 9 i don't know, in what was the last British fight to be billed as a 15 rounder.

at Wigan and he ended up with the Lonsdale outright i think.

Saw Takaloo get starched by Alexander. Only went to the fight because of what i'd seen of him on the box.

A bigger version of Napa would've been something else. Still wouldn't have had any power, mind.
