Re: Christopher Lovejoy's WBA ranking?

wonder if sokolowski can fight dave
Damn I wanted to see if he had any capability at all. I doubt he does but this would of been fun while it lastedEnlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 11:50 According to iFL TV, Don King has pulled the plug on Christopher Lovejoy's bout against Dave Allen, with the American veteran promoter claiming he wants his fighter to face the WBA interim champion (Trevor Bryan) instead.
Apparently, Christopher Lovejoy disputes the contractual ties that Don King alleges.
And with Lovejoy's contractual status in doubt, Eddie Hearn says he won't pit the American against Dave Allen without Don King's approval.
So at the moment, Eddie Hearn is frantically trying to sort things out and also orchestrating a last-minute replacement for his charge.
So King has gone from 'thrilla in Manila' and 'rumble in the jungle' all the way down to 'Bryan vs Lovejoy for the WBA interim title'.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 08:06 Christopher Lovejoy has been dropped from the WBA's latest rankings.
He was previously dropped from their rankings during January, but bizarrely re-entered them in July, even though he hadn't even fought (and no one else included in the WBA's ratings list had either).
Hopefully, this will be the last time we hear from this man, especially considering his lack of professionalism that compelled him to withdraw at the very last-minute from the Dave Allen bout.
However, he's rumoured to be at the front of the queue to face fellow Don King stablemate and also the WBA's interim champion, Trevor Bryan (who's been inactive for almost 2½ years).
Therefore, I'd expect Christopher Lovejoy to receive another top-fifteen ranking by the WBA in the near future, without requiring the need to even compete.
I genuinely don't get why Don King is still in the sport, yh maybe about 20 years he put on decent shows but it just seems like his fighters never fight anymore. I just don't understand why you'd still be a promoter but all your fighters are inactive.keirw wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 08:42So King has gone from 'thrilla in Manila' and 'rumble in the jungle' all the way down to 'Bryan vs Lovejoy for the WBA interim title'.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 08:06 Christopher Lovejoy has been dropped from the WBA's latest rankings.

Surely the mad ol' bastard should take that as a sign that his time in the sport is done....
It was Don King who stopped the LOvejoy/Allen fight as Don King claimed Bryan would be defending his WBA scoobie doo title against Lovejoy. I would say that WBA #15 ranking was Don KIng greasing the WBA palms like he always has. Although the WBA has given King & his 2 million bid for the Bryan/Charr a deadline to finalize the fight. They might as well just dissolve the Interim & Regular titles. Is Oquendo ever going to get that shot?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑12 Nov 2020, 08:06 Christopher Lovejoy has been dropped from the WBA's latest rankings.

I forgot to mention in my post reply earlier that King hadn't promoted his last 7 fights so he was under the impression he was no longer with King. WTF? Don King used to put on great HW cards but man it is a serious case of hanging on. If Bryan/Charr actually happens before the Jan 28 deadline & Bryan wins that fight (Which I think he will) then Don King will have the next WBA mandatory with whoever is the WBA champion in 2022. I'm not sure that 2 million bid will hold up so I expect this fight NOT to happen. Both guys get a million. Wonder is Fres Oquendo is still lurking? Been owed that shot since 2014. The only 2 fights Fres has had since is in court. He won his case & is owed a title shot. He was also awarded $950000 US. Then when Charr or Browne (Can't recall which one it was) failed the drug test he was awarded $250000 (his purse) as it was in the contract if Charr or Browne failed a drug test he would be paid his purse regardless. Not bad money at all! 1.2 million & all he had to do was wear a suit to court...Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Oct 2020, 11:50 According to iFL TV, Don King has pulled the plug on Christopher Lovejoy's bout against Dave Allen, with the American veteran promoter claiming he wants his fighter to face the WBA interim champion (Trevor Bryan) instead.

How do you explain Lovejoy's on again off again WBA #15 ranking. Don King trying to get Bryan to defend against him & wouldn't he have to be ranked to get a shot at the WBA scoobie doio title? Bryan is one win away from being Joshua's mandatory. Don King won't want to lose his last chance at staying alive in the HW division. We will see if Charr/Bryan actually happens or I would not be surprised to see Lovejoy get his shot just to erase the inactivity & threat of Bryan being stripped. Just a theory though...Onetimeonly wrote: ↑17 Dec 2020, 15:28 I doubt king is greasing palms for a guy that hasn't fought in ages.
What does King have to gain by putting up money for Lovejoy? Especially after all these months in the rankings. It certainly hasn't made him a nickel.joe strong wrote: ↑18 Dec 2020, 19:02How do you explain Lovejoy's on again off again WBA #15 ranking. How would you explain Trevor Bryan never fighting? I wouldn't begin to guess on the any number of nonsensical reasons the wba works. I'd start with whom promotes Lovejoy. If it ain't king it ain't king. If don paid he would mysteriously show up and the fight would get made.joe strong wrote: ↑18 Dec 2020, 19:02How do you explain Lovejoy's on again off again WBA #15 ranking. The guy shows up with $8000 to buy out his contract? Then King wanted $15000? A scum bag right to the bitter end. It is beyond me why anyone would sign a contract with DKP.
