In reality it's not how much weight he loses its whether he trains properly
From your experience, Coco, do you think losing weight is going to help with his mobility (which was clearly pretty poor in the AJ rematch) or is it not really a factor?
In reality if he trains properly he will lose weight which will have a positive impact on everything.
However there is no point if he loses weight by cutting food but not training.
Some fighters inc Tyson Fury and George Foreman trained and were in good fighting shape but never body beautiful. These fighters don't really diet as such but have trained.
George Foreman in his 40's, not the earlier version.

Iv seen these story befor. Andy ruiz in black/dark shirts looking trim. mabey one shot of his belly from a weird angle while he is sucking in...you start to think holy fornicate ruiz is going to be 230lb, then somehow he jumps on the scale at 268...
ya, dudes were jizzing to 'new slim andy', before the aj rematch, these types of threads
'omg he's really takin it seriously!!!' 'he's gonna do it again!''
then 283 lololol

and the even funnier thing is that some people bought into the new sliim andy narrative so much, that when he weighed 283 they went into denial and suggested it was because he was carrying weights in his pants to trick aj
step on the scale big boi, then we'll see. so far it's just been a fat dude being fat

Who knows, he could lose the weight and become a top HW again but no one should give the fat boy credit before he does. I won’t forget he blew a massive opportunity and seemed to con the public. Overall it was a disgrace.
As of right now he comes across as a fair phony, spending money with reckless abandon and doing the whole instagram posing nonsense.
I like a good redemption story..he has that narrative going for him (sorta) although it would pale In comparison to something like Tyson fury’s struggle. Time will tell I guess buti don’t have high hopes.

take the shirt off and get on the scales big boi
we got 283 the last time he was supposed to be slim
and i mean that's a comparsion between him without a shirt and legs not visible, and him with a shirt on and legs visible, wrong way around
if the dude really has made a big change, why does he always need the shirts and angles and poor comparsions, just take it off, take a photo head on , and get on the scales big andy my man. big boi has given us reason to be doubtful b4

To be fair, anybody that’s carried 50lbs+ of excess weight for a prolonged period of their lifetime will inevitably retain some permanently loose skin that can only be surgically removed.
Let’s just pretend that Andy Ruiz Jr. weighs around the 250lbs mark when he faces Chris Arreola, he’ll be roughly 50lbs lighter than his heaviest weight as a pro and 34lbs lighter than he was for the AJ rematch.
So even if he really has lost the weight suggested by his social media posts, it’s impossible for him to be “physically” ripped. He’ll always look like he’s carrying extra timber.
On a side note though, it looks like someone's photo-shopped that picture, by placing another person's muscular legs on Andy Ruiz Jr's body!

Are we sure the legs are photoshopped? If so I fell for it, I assumed he at least had strong legs from carrying that excess weight around.

You're probably right, Andy might have really strong legs. They look freaking awesome!
In his street clothes and between training camps, shortly after the AJ rematch, he probably weighed far in excess of 300lbs.
Simply getting out of his chair or bed, walking up the stairs, tying his shoelaces etc. would be the sporting equivalent of continuously performing heavy barbell squats, deadlifts and weighted dumbbell lunges.
So yes, I can imagine his legs and posterior chain to be immensely strong (in the context of someone that isn't a powerlifter).

I've always considered Andy Ruiz jr's beautifully shaped eyebrows to be his best feature, but now Andy in short shorts has had to make me reconsider...just look at those thighs! Phwoooooaaar!
They appear to be his as well, no photoshop involvement.

To stop any future arguments I think we need a poll. What’s Andy’s best feature? His immaculately shaped eyebrows or muscular yet inviting thighs?

That's an excellent idea! Should include a 'draw' option as some people (such as myself) might find it too hard to decide.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s people like you that make this forum an inclusive and safe place. Having the draw option is fantastic (and inclusive) as people who like both aspects of Andy won’t be pigeonholed into a choice they may not fully agree with, those people in turn may not vote, leaving them feeling that they were excluded (which is a bullying tactic) and/or discriminated upon, leading to a sentiment that the forum is an unsafe environment.

I’ve just watched the Fight News videos that were clearly recorded at the same time as the photos of Andy posted to this thread today... and I have to say he superficially looks awesome.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no idea whatsoever about whether the weight loss will improve Ruiz Jr’s pugilistic ability, so he currently may or may not be a better fighter than the man that caused the AJ upset.
But he’s definitely lost a lot of weight (i.e. no photoshop or dodgy camera angles) and he also looks athletically impressive.
For sure, he’s probably still carrying some excess weight, but he looks remarkably fitter than we’ve seen him in years.

... anaerobic vs aerobic energy systems. Andys an interesting one. His punches looked so smooth and relaxed that I would think he was constantly using the aerobic system regardless of how fast he was punching. Looking at a recent video of him hitting the bag, it looks like hes become more technical and perhaps mechanical, as a result I believe he will rely more on the anaerobic system. Using this system could seriously tire him out. Of course I think he can beat Areola but I'll keep a good eye on his output and energy levels.
