Williams is with MTK so they will probably act as the middle man between Eddie and Frank before it goes to purse bids. From Williams twitter he just wants to fight Andrade now, so if they are going to get the fight arranged for February the deal will probably be done over the next few weeks.
Yeah - I suppose MTK got the deal done with Matchroom for Andrade vs Saunders but I’d still be surprised if there aren’t purse bids. Either way Williams will end up with life changing money.

Well Eddie will want to get Andrade out in February as they are lining him up to face BJS in the summer so I can see them getting a deal done before it goes to purse bids to avoid the delays. When are purse bids due to be called do you know?

I don’t they finalised a date for them as Andrade was due to fight this week. A date should have given in the next week or so I think.

Will be interesting to see what happens with this. It’s not a fight that the yanks will be too interested in and it’s not a big fight over here either.

WBO mandatories are usually 75/25 in favour of the champ so FW will have to write a big cheque to get the fight over here.

I think a late deal will be done with Williams fighting in the states as FW may not want to be seen losing a purse bid to Matchroom.

He can be in some great fights and get some great wins, but I can't see it against BooBoo.
Hope I'm wrong tho...

Yeh, he's not fought the best opponents leading up to a world title fight, but his resume leading up to a world title fight is better than most still. He earned it.

Commentators/promoters hyping that he stopped Fox and Andrade didn't just hype it. Total different fighting styles.

Andrade can definitely drop his opponents, but he'd rather cruise to a decision win. He's more of a complete boxer.

I was hoping to see Williams face Eubank but I can't blame Williams taking the Andrade fight.

He wouldn't pass over a world title fight to fight Eubank jr. Can see the fight happening either if he beats Andrade or they both lose and face each other as a winner takes all scenario.

WBO Middleweight Title Fight Heads To Purse Bid

Demetrius Andrade and Liam Williams are finally one step closer toward finalizing a title fight, though not by their own doing.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is prepared to call a purse bid hearing this week to determine promotional rights for its middleweight title fight, BS.com has learned. The decision comes following the expiration of a 15-day negotiation period ordered between Andrade and Williams, with talks remaining at a standstill through the imposed Jan. 29 deadline.

Instead, the matter will be decided by a hearing held via Zoom conference call conducted at WBO headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The session will be open to all WBO-registered promoters.

“We’re heading to purse bids and go from there,” Frank W, Williams’ promoter confirmed to Boxing Scene on Monday. “We’ll see what happens, but I really like Liam’s chances in this fight.”

The fight was formally ordered last March, shortly after Andrade’s 9th round knockout of Ireland’s Luke Keeler last January in Miami, Florida. The two camps entered preliminary talks, though proving moot as the initial wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic wound up shutting down the sport for the better part of three months.

Even as action resumed, the fight was not deemed as a priority. Both boxers were granted voluntary fights by the WBO, with the understanding that they would next enter a mandatory title fight. Williams (23-2-1, 18 KOs) scoring a 1st round knockout of Andrew Robinson last October at BT Sport Studio in East London, which extended his current seven fight win streak. The run has come entirely at middleweight for the 28-year old Welshman, following a pair of losses to Liam Smith in the 154-pound division before moving up in weight.

Andrade has not fought since the aforementioned win over Keeler, which marked the third successful defense of a title reign dating back to Oct. 2018. The undefeated two-division titlist from Providence was penciled in for a non-title fight last November, only for those plans to fall through after scheduled foe Dusty-Hernandez Harrison tested positive for COVID. The matter was learned just one week before their Nov. 29th fight, leaving Andrade without a fight.

Rumors swirled of Andrade possibly moving up in weight to challenge WBO super middleweight titlist Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs). The pairing revisited old history between the two, as Saunders was a WBO middleweight titlist at the time he was due to face Andrade in Oct. 2018 in Boston.

The fight was scrapped after Saunders tested positive for oxilofrine, leaving Andrade to face—and soundly beat—Walter Kautondokwa for the vacant strap.

Renewed talks seemingly picked up steam before Saunders landed back at the forefront of a far greater prize, a super middleweight title unification clash with WBC/WBA champ Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The bout is tentatively scheduled to take place in May, as long as Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) first gets past Turkey’s Avni Yilidirim (21-2, 12 KOs) whom he faces on Feb. 27 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Andrade was already ordered to enter the 15-day negotiation period with Williams by that point, though he could have easily vacated his title to move up in weight for a shot at becoming a three-division titlist. Instead, he will have to settle for another mandatory title defense which is now at the mercy of the highest bidder.

I don’t get why many think Andrade is anything special. He’s not competed against world level opposition for over 7 years even though he’s held a world title in that time. His only win of any note was a MD over Martirosyan. He’s looked relatively slick against dreadful opposition but if Williams puts it on him from the off like he did with Fox I think he’ll break him down. I don’t think Andrade was that great in the first place & I don’t think he’s got much hunger for the sport.

My main concern for Williams is if he becomes passive like he did in the Smith rematch & shows too much respect. When you compare Williams & Smiths abilities there’s no way Smith should’ve ended up with two wins over Willians even if he was a bit weight drained.

If Williams starts slow and allows Andrade to get into his his horrible, mauling rhythm he could be in for a long night. If he starts well and forces Andrade to fight I fancy that he’ll do him.

Trouble with William's he's only beaten british title contenders. Always levels to boxing. Better chance if the fight is over in London.

Purse bids are later today. Is it a formality that Matchroom win it or does FW bid big to get the fight over here?

He might but I don’t really think it’s a big fight over here. Neither Williams or Andrade are known by casual fans but it’s still a good, competitive fight.

It’s not a big fight in the states either but I would have thought Eddie’s DAZN fund is enough to get it.

Eddie seems to think the Americans won’t like it as they’ll have no idea who Williams is and totally underestimate him.

The minimum bid is $200,000.

If the bout lands in the U.S., the split is 75/25 for champion Andrade.

If the bout lands in the U.K., the split is 80/20 for Andrade.
