Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
Boxing is the most brutal of sports and far to many fighters suffer life changing brain injuries....so for someone to take steroids to gain a advantage that could kill an opponent is disgusting....canelo wants to called a great a pound for pound king...that is a joke to mention a man that has been caught bang to rights for cheating to be mentioned in the same breath as men like Ali tyson Lewis or lighter men like mayweather Pacquiao is joke....he should of been banned for life...so I hope he gets his arse knocked the hell out!!!

Canelo has done to Smith like he tried to with Billy Joe Saunders....give him as little notice as possible. I mean how long is the fight just over a meeting away...it's just another case of canelo doing whatever he can to gain an edge...#cheat

The British media claim Smith has been training for several months in anticipation of facing Canelo.Nickmclean wrote: ↑18 Nov 2020, 19:43 Canelo has done to Smith like he tried to with Billy Joe Saunders....give him as little notice as possible. And Callulm’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, would have also had insider knowledge of the likelihood of Smith facing Canelo a long time before the media rumours.
Let’s face it, fighters like Smith and Canelo are probably in the gym all year round anyway.

Yea its a bit cheaky getting it down to 4 weeks away, i mean, im sure Smiths in good shape, and im sure he has been getting some sparing for canelo done all year, but this only leaves him 2 or 3 weeks to do some real tailored for this fight sparing.
but As long as there is no bullshit dehydration clause im happy.

Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
the problem is if smith doesn't put him away he could win all 12 rounds clearly, not get rattled even once, throw triple & land double as many punches as nelo and he still wouldn't get a decision.
if there should be any special 'canelo rehydration clause' involved smith can right away hand over his belt pre fight and stretch out for the count as the bell rings.
a fully hydrated, motivated & relentlessly aggressive smith is long, strong, versatile and fast enough to win the fight quite clearly but he has to stop canelo as he just won't get the decision.

At 168 Canelo should have enough to get past Smith.
The reach and height of Smith could pose problems but for how long.
Callum could make it awkward and frustrating he has that type of style.
Saul's experience and performances in high level fights is hard to beat, he has an extra gear.

I think it would be similar to Jacobs fight. Canelo will take comfortable points decision with Smith having his moments

I'm sure Smith is already well aware that this is a simple pre-arranged money and belt transfer.
If there is to be a re-hydration clause then I hope Smith has requested a larger fee for his services from the notoriously avaricious Canelo camp.
Smith might be willing to play the part of a hooker for Canelo, but there's no need to be two-penny one.
Even Billy Joe had a little more dignity than that.

People are making a big deal about Smiths poor showing vs john ryder, and kinda fair enough. But that was the 2nd southpaw he had fought in his entire pro carrer of about 8 years... Pretty understandable to look sloppy in your second fight vs a southpaw.. Not saying he is going to win this, but i wouldent hold the ryder performance against him.
Keen for this, its the 2 top 168s.

At the beginning of October, Eddie Hearn said that he was planning to match Callum Smith against the likes of Billy Joe Saunders, Anvi Yildirim or Canelo during December (with the 12th being a pre-arranged PPV date).brilo33 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2020, 21:24well i think in athe purist sense of the matter a fights a fight but i just dont like a saul having a heads up on itEnlightened-One wrote: ↑18 Nov 2020, 20:52The British media claim Smith has been training for several months in anticipation of facing Canelo.Nickmclean wrote: ↑18 Nov 2020, 19:43 Canelo has done to Smith like he tried to with Billy Joe Saunders....give him as little notice as possible. Around the same date, Callum Smith insisted that he was definitely fighting before the year is out.
And yesterday, British media articles had claimed Callum Smith had been in the gym for the last few months keeping himself in shape for a potential December outing.
The assumption is that Canelo is somehow trying to cheat, but the truth is that the Mexican and the Brit have both continued to train, despite them not even having fights lined-up.
Canelo definitely won’t be facing an out-of-shape iteration of Callum Smith. And anyone that believes otherwise either cannot read or has made no effort whatsoever to convey an educated opinion.

I agree, Ryder is better than his resume reads, because he’s been unlucky, not just because he’s dropped decisions in bouts he appeared to have won, but he also had big-name opposition withdraw from fights at short notice.gregregegg wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 04:48 People are making a big deal about Smiths poor showing vs john ryder, and kinda fair enough. Styles makes fights and Ryder is a southpaw, which means he’d be awkward for any 168lb-er to overcome.
One of the things Ryder said though, was that he didn’t rate Smith’s chances against Canelo, because he showed everyone the blueprint on how to beat him.

Canelo Expects Great Fight With Smith, Aims To Work With All Promoters
Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez recently ended his relationship with his promoter for more than a decade, Golden Boy Promotions.
Earlier this week he announced his ring return for 2020, when he faces WBC super middleweight champion Callum Smith on December 19th, likely in Texas. DAZN, who recently parted ways with Canelo after a lawsuit settlement, will stream the event.
Now, as a free agent, he hopes to secure the biggest fights possible - regardless of who promotes them.
According to Canelo, beyond the economics, what he wanted more than anything was to stay current and continue fighting in 2020.
Canelo has been out of the ring since November 2020, when he knocked out Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight strap.
"For me the money is the least of it, obviously I always want to have my family doing well and I get in there to give my life for something, to have a better life, but the truth is that I love boxing and for me money means less, but I think I'm going to do much better as a free agent," Canelo told TV Azteza.
"I am going to be able to make the best fights and now I am going to decide each thing in my business matters and I think I will do much better, I trust God and I have always said that what is done well cannot go wrong and we are going to do better... in the end what I want is to be able to work with all the promoters and to be able to make the best fights for the public."
Canelo is expecting a tough encounter with Smith, who holds a big edge in height and reach.
"He is a fighter who comes forward looking for a fight, who does not give you a chance to breathe, to get your rhythm going. He is a fighter who has many qualities, a lot of power too, but we are ready for this and for more. I think at these levels we have to fit in with everything with the experience we have and it will be a great fight. I'm ready for this and these kinds of challenges are the ones I like in boxing to keep going and make history," said Canelo.

Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
I just dont see a threat for Canelo in his fights anymore. Smith with start out fresh maybe outboxing Canelo a couple rounds until Canelo gets his movement down. Canelo just doesnt wanna be in the fire at this point. Smith is gonna be Kovolev all over again.
Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
What are Callum Smith best strengths ?
Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
He's a solid boxer with good fundamentals and anthropometrics for competing at the SMW, he carries decent power, but all these strong sides of him are to be neutralized by Canelo, who is an overall superior boxer, who will be able to deliver his power on Smith.
Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
Yeah but Canelo honestly does well with those fighters...He will either us lateral movement letting Callum come into his range...or he is gonna walk Smith down and just smother the Power of Smith. Best way to smother STR in get in the kitchen. And Canelo can do that with Smith.
Re: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Callum Smith - December 19, 2020
I mean when I point out that height and reach is pretty much one's only advantage coming in. I think it goes without saying that I think the other guy is gonna do well in the fight.xGeebZx wrote: ↑20 Nov 2020, 13:33Yeah but Canelo honestly does well with those fighters...He will either us lateral movement letting Callum come into his range...or he is gonna walk Smith down and just smother the Power of Smith.
