Beating Klitschko in his own game and slaugtering Wilder in rematch is good enough for me. Actually i think WIlder record is better than AJ too.

Edit: Dont get me wrong, Joshua has some impressive wins too, but i dont understand why is he more popular than Fury

My mates who are more casual fans would probably lean towards Fury now. They’d still go to a big AJ fight and cheer him on but AJ pissed a lot of people off with the BLM stuff and Fury was promoted himself extremely well.

Exactly that for my group of mates.

I don't mind AJ. Went to watch him in New York but that was more for the 5 days in NYC but his popularity does seem to have declined the last year or 2.

Haha, I stand corrected on when Fury's last fight took place (thought it was December 2019)

Doesn't alter my take on things and all things being equal, Joshua defends again soon against a man Fury pulled out of an IBF eliminator.

AJ has the better record but Tyson is the better fighter

I imagine most of the people with a problem with BLM didn't support AJ in the first place. For me it's because of the way he lost to Ruiz, much more so than the loss itself. Against Klitschko he was Brunofied for a spell, but we all agreed it was a physical limitation. He dug in and came back to win.

But then against Ruiz he mentally folded under the pressure TFKoB was able to apply, and from then on we've doubted his fortitude if it happens again. This is vitally important against Fury, where the outcome hinges massively on which AJ turns up. Wilder has the tools to beat Fury, but his confidence twice deserted him.

I'd pick AJ to beat Fury the night he fought Klitschko in 2017 (one of the most notable things about AJ back then was how composed he was on ringwalks), but for now I favour Fury unless AJ does a number on Pulev, causing us to reappraise his mental recovery after Ruiz. Remember how Fury couldn't manhandle Wlad like he could Wilder? AJ can definitely win. But his casual fans saw his reaction to Ruiz and I think that's why he's lost plenty.

A lot of us are really looking forward to Dubois-Joyce, because whatever their shortcomings, they're both viewed as warriors.

Fury no question.

AJ has the quantity - he’s beaten a long list of top 10 guys - but he doesn’t have anything to match Fury’s best 3* wins.

*2 and the robbery draw.

I can't see how Wilder's record is better than AJ's, I assume you knock AJ back because of the loss to Ruiz? i guess wilder has the draw vs fury too though i thought he was fortunate to get that

There is only one way to think wilders record is better than AJs and that is to really rate ortiz. Possition i cant get around, but, if you do then fair enough.

I mean he's good but what's he really done that is so so impressive?

He got a beast reputation starting with the Jennings win, but that's really the only good win in his entire career and it was 5 years ago. And for perspective, Jennings and Perez had an even fight where only a deduction got Jenn the win. Shortly after Pov then splattered Perez in 1. So it's not like getting a big KO at that level is something that was beyond everyone else.

These days Ortiz basically just crushes cans and gets ko'd by Wilder

If to make a top 15 of their wins (according to the moments of scoring these wins):

1. Klitschko (by Fury)
2. Wilder #2
3. Klitschko (by Joshua)
4. Wilder #1 (Let's look objectively, it was a robbery and the majority had Fury there)

Actually i rate Ortiz wins pretty high. Ok maybe i was overreacting rating WIlder resume higher than AJ, but many posters had tendency to underrate it

Fury's Christmas record with Robbie Williams could easily be bettered by King Humbilicious, but so far he's chickened out of trying

I don't rate Wilder win that highly. Hes only notable win is against Ortiz and he almost lost that fight too. Hes around the level of Whyte and Parker as a scalp.

Povetkin would be much better win that Wilder but AJ got him bit too late. Value starts to drop as the guys get farther away from prime.

Ruiz is pretty good win. He would whack anyone on Wilders list. Including the old bogey man Ortiz

So AJ has much better resume for me.

Fury still has the best single win in Wad. Seeing how close the AJ Wlad fight was I am not sold on AJ winning against the Wlad that Fury beat. Location is also important. I don't think they would have stopped Wlad in Germany like they did in UK. That was bit early for my liking for HW championship fight

Joshua has fought more top 10 heavyweights but Fury has the better wins (Wlad and Wilder). Three times started as a betting underdog against a fellow champion away from home. And despite this is still unbeaten. AJ has an ‘L’ and the manner of that defeat destroyed his aura of invincibility.
