Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
I read a couple of years back that he was in court for shoplifting and it was said that he could walk or talk properly and his immune system was shot.
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
drugs and alcohol just ravished him didn't they? I hope jason stays healthy and well the poor sod. their sister killed herself i believe. very sad. RIP.Old bones Ian wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 16:28Post by his partner yesterday was he was in hospital with liver issues. He obviously didn't pull through R.I.P
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
Both brothers were gifted boxers. I sparred both of them when they started out as pro’s. Jason was a great technician who could land a punch from anywhere. Nicky, for me had more power and spite in his punches. Both were lovely lads. Looking back I was privileged to have helped them out at the very start.
Both had their own troubles, god bless them both.
RIP Nicky.

It was a very very flash knockdown. Galahad touched the canvas for a nano second. Rewatch the fight and look up the meaning of a 'heavy knockdown'.....![]()
Well Galahad recovered quite quickly but he was very affected by the shot. He was all over the place momentarily and looked like he was going to go down heavily. He showed pretty good recuperative powers. It wasn't a "heavy" knockdown per say but Galahad was momentarily very much out on his feet so in that respect it doesn't feel right to call it a flash knockdown either.
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
I remember when Jason was supposed to fight for the British Super Fly title and there was the British Super Bantam title on the card. Booth's opponent ended up pulling out and so did Super Bantam champion.
He ended up fighting for the Super Bantam title for the vacant title and put on some performance against Mark Moran stopping him in the 6th.

Jason was top quality
100% the best British boxer never to have won a Euro title.

Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
I guess it depends on how much of a technicality when you make that claim. Obviously there have been a fair few "world" champions who did not win the EBU belt - Chris Eubank immediately comes to mind, Joe Calzaghe also.
I'm assuming you mean never won a EBU title or world title - then yes, think Jason is a great shout - although perhaps Michael Gomez?
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
Gomez sprang to my mind but I am biased. Michael and Jason are similar in that for a number of reasons the public don't know how good they really were, whereas those from within the trade who knew them do.

Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
i didn't see that much of either Booth but the natural talent and skill stood out pretty starkly, especially Jason IIRC. at his best he looked so effortless, 'smooth' and relaxed.
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
always thought michael jennings could've done something at euro level too

Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
yeah i agree. he could have done so much more. shame hes suffering from dementia now, tho it seemed inevitableJimmy2020 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2021, 11:55Jennings was very capable but not quite as good as Gomez. Gomez was different gravy and had enough pop for the next level. His ill-discipline out of the ring cost him, as we know.
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
Did Kevin Mitchell win a European
Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
Jason qaulity fighter...did the basics very well

I disagree. Looked absolutely fine, not ‘out on his feet’ at all.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑13 Jan 2021, 20:55Timestamped knockdownrhino222 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2020, 06:03What fight did you watch?..... Almost the definition of a flash knockdown.

I was at the Brentwood centre to see Booth beat Arthur. Always liked watching booth he was a very good technician. I remember watching him against quigg wishing that he would hang the gloves up then, was a hard watch that

Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
boothy had 4 cracks at the euro and lost each time, and not like they were to any standout world talents. not really sure im seeing him as some sort of 'shoulda done more' type of guy. he fought in a division that was pretty weak domestically tbh and nothing special in europe either
even just recently eubank jr, whyte, campbell, mitchell, murray etc all never won a major world title (at least if interim isnt counted) or euro, is booth really better than all these guys.

Re: How is Jason Booth getting on?
so sad to read this, loved watching both brothers box. nicky booth tried to chat my then girlfriend up around broxtowe one time, she was 5ft 10! mind you, if i'd have known how it would turn out with her they would have had my blessing.
great nights at the harvey hadden, i think jawaid khaliq got close to fighting shane mosley at one stage.

Was that during the comeback part of his career when he jumped up to super Bantam?brian13 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2021, 09:51 I remember when Jason was supposed to fight for the British Super Fly title and there was the British Super Bantam title on the card. He gave me an absolute boxing lesson for the commonwealth title in Ireland. Probably the best technical boxer i had been in with. Hope he’s ok been a rough year for him already
