If they can do what they did with Benn everyone will be able to cash in.
Maybe depends on how exciting Hattons style is
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
Smart. If it works it’s great but if it doesn’t they’ll drop him.

Looks good on the pads and I like the way Ricky was working them....although I only wish trainers (not just Ricky) wouldnt be so slow when trying to clip the fighter...the slow crosses does not replicate a fight at all....but I was generally impressed. By his dads reaction, I think he carries some pop which might mean he'll be a better pro than amateur.
I was a bit concerned though that Ricky said that he likes a shandy or 5 in interviews....Dont want him to have his dads bad habits

Yeah - hopefully he stays clear of the booze. You can certainly make an argument that the booze and heavy post fight eating would have shortened Ricky’s career by a couple of years.
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
Ricky was a special talent and also I felt a product of his generation. There wasnt many fighters like Ricky with his style about and he was the perfect strength for 140 lbs. Everything fitted for a (too brief) moment and even though he fought all comers I still look at Ricky and I think what could have been.
Ricky's style and lifestyle meant he had a very brief (in reality) run at the top. I genuinely think he was already a tad past his best by 2005....If Campbell cuts out the bad habits he might have a longer career

Don't know why some people are hating. The kid is very young, has talent, good genes, the Hatton name/story So it's a no brainer for Hearn to sign him. Though hes no Pat Mccormack level of talent, he definitely looks better than Conor Benn and Eubank Jr did the first time I saw them! Hes bound to improve. And even if he just wins a British title, is exciting to watch and sells a lot tickets.. its a worthwile signing.

Looking forward to it, loved watching his old man fight, some of the best nights I’ve ever had out with my mates back in the day. Reckon he could be a bleeder though looking at the shape of his eyebrows.

Yeh: good business deal. The surname alone sells tickets.. he’ll be on big undercards or JDNXTGEN first.. if he impresses in the ring then that’s good for him..Stanny Onis wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020, 16:02 Don't know why some people are hating. camp signed by camp
how many am fights did he have?
tbf, he is at least a legit boxer and not like prince naz's kid who already talks big without a single am fight

Might be good enough to challenge for a WBU title one day like Ross Minter.

I’d be willing to bet that his first fight will be on Whyte’s PPV undercard if it happens in February. Will probably get a good chunk of people across the line to buy it.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Dec 2020, 17:06Yeh: good business deal. They'll need to treat the first 3 or 4 years of his Pro career as an extension of the Amateur learning process basically.mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 06:37 I saw him lose in the ABA’s on a split, but in truth he got hammered. He will get the benefit because of his name. He’s not bad like.
Baby steps for him. I'd like to see him do well though, as I'm sure several Ricky Hatton fans would. I haven't seen too many more fighters more well loved than Ricky.
I've seen better of course, but very few who had that kinda passionate support from their fans.
If Campbell is anywhere near as good as his Dad, it'd be nice to see him generate that kinda support again. I think they'd root for him as they did Ricky if he does well for himself.
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
With Hatton's troubles in the past with FW, i don't think he wanted history to repeat itself.

Best of luck to Campbell - I guess he is looking to work hard and not just live off his dads earnings.
It will be interesting to see if he can generate a following like his dad. Of course he is coming from a totally different background to his dad, and going professional with such hype and privilege may be setting him up to be knocked down for some.
His first 15-20 fights are not even going to be worth watching though; the least talented east european journeymen they can find - with the occasional Brit journeyman when things look safe.

Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
well floyd mayweather came from a real boxing family and he was well
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
looks longer than the old man , never heard about him in amutures mind though this is pro boxing
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
Brave call to compare him to Floyd. There have been lots of father then son pro boxers ... not too many sons of world champion fathers achieving as high a level though; even when they have had all the advantages.
Whether that is because they are given too easy fights to pad record then rushed due to being compared to their high achieving father without having the required tough learning fights - or not as hungry/determined enough because of their privileged upbringing ..
Re: Campbell Hatton signs with Matchroom Boxing
I've seen one of his amateur fights on YouTube...they will need to iron out some mistakes he makes (as I think it was a recent fight). Comes in behind a jab and makes a common "novice" mistake of bending down and head down as he attacks...just begging to be uppercut.
Can see why people are saying more Matthew than Ricky (Matthew was far from bad and gave a good account of himself vs Canelo and had a good run at one stage). Campbell will need to develop his man strength soon or iron out those defensive flaws in the gym and brought along slowly. He does have decent speed and engine though...just was so open to the uppercut...its such a common flaw which usually gets unlearned the hard way

Andy Jones does the strength and conditioning at Matthew Hattons gym and he does a good job on the likes of Damian Chambers so I reckon that side of things won't be a problem.
