Calzaghe calling out Eccles come on!

Just being nit picking but there is still Beyer, Lucas, Larsen, and Grant who have the same (or similar) level of experience as Calzaghe.

If the Kessler fight comes off I would be delighted.

How do you think Kessler ranks up compared to one of Naz' opponents. Remember the post I said saying that Naz never won a challenge - do you think this statement would no longer apply to Joe with a Kessler victory. Personally, I would still say no. I would put Kessler in the same bracket as I did Paul Ingle.

Lets hope this fight gets made though, interesting development so late into Calzaghe's super middle career. Does this mean that the move to Light Heavy will not happen?

Calzaghe is on the way down; after being dropped by Salem he is an accident waiting to happen and definitely will not retire with an unbeaten record - even though he has religiously avoided the better fighters in the super-middle division. Even Joe Public, in Wales, is genuinely fed up of his hype.

Religiously avoided????? I can see us moving back round to the Ottke arguments where he offered to fight in germany for 1m quid. As for the other fighter he "avoided" I just dont see it. He is in a weak division where he has sat too long, but he is the best in that division. And I dont think you'll find anyone who would say there isn't anyone in this division, for a while, that on his day Calzaghe would not thrash.

According to: http://www.teampalle.dk/composite-414.htm the negotiations between Warren and Team Palle went good. They now have a verbal agrement covering the essentialt aspects. She also states that it wasnt impossible that Warren would send Calzaghe to fight in Copenhagen.

There's still a LONG way to go. Even if they agree terms, they then have to get the fighters to sign, then Calzaghe has to stay injury fee and stop chasing skirt so he can concentrate on training.

I have to say, I've thought the same thing recently. If Ottke had agreed to a million dollar purse and agreed to come to England, would Calzaghe have found some excuse not to make the fight? I suspect he would have done.

Ottke and Sauerland both wanted the fight. Ottke fought anybody. but he got 3 million euros per fight at home. this is the only reason why he didn´t fight Calzaghe. Calzaghe and Warren refused a fight in Germany.

It's amazes me that they would send Kessler to England to fight Calzaghe but wouldn't send him here to fight Green. I wonder who they see as a bigger threat.

Well its obviously not Slapsie Calagzie, But then again they know even if its signed sealed and taking place in Slapsie backyard with his dad has sole ref and judge, Slapsie will stub his toe on the walk to the garden and it will get cancelled

Yeah i think the Calzaghe-Ottke fight was a none starter from day one and both were to blame...i think they are both very similar in mindset (not stylewise of course) and neither was ever going to give ground. If they really wanted to fight each other then the money would have been there for either to leave there havens and fight away from home. But there was always a "Why should i if i won't" mentality about the whole thing IMO. It really sums up world Boxing today, in the old days they would have fought each other three times already but that's the way it goes.

I genuinely think Kessler will travel as well but Calzaghe will try and sabotage the fight as much as he can and in the end you can't blame guys like Kessler for thinking "why should i even bother?" and moving onto other options.
