Crawford offering Porter a million is basicaly the end of my hope in Crawford ever fighting top welters. He has offered porter 1 million for what is most likely a beating, when porter supposedly last fight made over that, beating a noone euro when porter was coming of a loss.
Yeh. Prior to Khan, they offered $3m to DSG.. plus PPV upside. But Angel didn’t get back to them. So called self-managed boxers.
They then wasted $5m on Khan. And now recently $2m on Brook.
3 million sounds like a good offer But it was in the golden age of boxer pay, then they dropped 5 on kahn strait after.... could of offered danny 5 million, i think he would of done better numbers than kahn to be honest.
But it all just shows how bad this 1 million porter offer is, weathered khan made 5, Weathered brook made 2 millon, and didnt Danny garcia just make 5 million fighting spence? (who crawford insists he is an equal draw to).
Crawford desperately needs a credible USA welterweight opponent, and right now he is pissing on Porter, and pretending he is equal to Manny and spence.

What 1 million Porter offer?

"I’m not taking a million,” said Porter to The Porter Way Podcast.
“I’ve done the best I could in sending a message to Bob Arum, and I also know people that know Bob.
“I’ve told them, ‘Tell Mr. Arum, I don’t mean any disrespect, and I know he doesn’t. If you’re going to low ball me, don’t do it. If you feel that’s how you get out of fighting me, that’s weak.
“Don’t do it. However, if you want to make the fight happen, don’t lowball me. It's clear they scared of me, he's ducking me. Khan got 5 million on their fight. I’m worth more than a million dollars. F a million dollars. I’m going to keep it as clean as possible, but I’m not fighting Terence Crawford for 1 million dollars,” said Porter.

Why were they offering him a fight while arum and Crawford are bickering? Sounds suspect or old but you never know. I know Porter wanted Spence rematch over anything.
They're friends

Serious contract negotiations for fights that are realistically very likely to be made aren’t performed via the media.
The discussions always take place behind closed doors.
So I’m guessing the alleged $1m offer was just a publicity stunt.
It’s not uncommon for promoters to submit lowball offers and subsequently proclaim “duck” whenever the recipients of those unacceptable terms subsequently reject them.
In this case though, perhaps Top Rank are refusing to lose money staging Crawford’s events, so they’re only willing to offer a certain amount that doesn’t surpass the break-even point.
Terence’s $3m to $4m minimum purse guarantee is quite a financial burden, from a budgeting perspective, in the context of a promoter having to stage an event that will generate almost no gate receipt revenue, coupled with moderately low ESPN viewing figures.

Bob could make Crawford's purse guarantee work for him if he'd bother putting Crawford in a fight that people wanted to see. Hasn't tried that in a long time.
If Crawford's career keeps up as it is he may go down as one of the biggest wastes of talent I've ever seen. Not necessarily for himself. He's made a lot of money, and I'm sure is living a comfortable life, but for a promoter who just completely doesn't know what to do with him, and yet he's one of the most talented guys in the world, it's just ridiculous.

Crawford is pricing himself out of fights.
He’s claimed he deserves 50% of the purse pot to face Pacquiao and 60% for the Spence Jr. bout.
That said, Crawford’s contract with Top Rank/ESPN ensures he receives $3m to $4m facing anonymous cab drivers.
Imagine if Bud’s contract had another three years on it (it actually expires in October, but that’s not the point), we’d never see Crawford in a half-decent bout ever again.
Imagine being allowed to receive massive amounts of money and you don’t have to do any self-promotion and minimal contact with journalists, but yet you’d still receive massive paydays for every outing.
By Crawford’s own admission, there’s only a select few journalists he’s willing to talk to.
It’s just a very bad situation for Top Rank and ESPN.
And I’m not even sure DAZN or the PBC would be interested in taking over Crawford’s reins if that’s what they’ve got to deal with.

It sucks. He's my favorite current fighter and even fights like postol and indongo that a lot of people on here pretend now they didn't think would be nip and tuck I knew he'd steamroll them.
It's the nature of the niche sport it is here. When bud came up lightweight wasn't loaded and the fights were available for tr and they got him everything at 40 except for Manny who wanted no part.
47 is PVC and the fact of the matter is Crawford vs Spence is only marginally more lucrative than Spence vs the other pbc guys. No reason for al to split that up or Bob to make a guaranteed losing offer to make it worth Al's time.
The shutdown is huge for boxing. Arum got a tidy payroll from ESPN when they started the streaming but bud, nor fury, generate the revenue to cover their purses. Goes directly back to the premium cable and casino site fees that started the slow decline here that's left boxing so far in the back of sports here.
Taylor/Ramirez winner is his fight.

The bad situation is with Arum. He doesn't get the guy the big money fights. That's on him. Crawford does all he needs to do as far as promoting himself. He fights, and he wins. Usually by KO.

Crawford should take 25/75 for PacMan or even less.
Best way to get the Spence superfight and still a good payday.

He would have when they were both at tr. Spence is just a super fight to us. Manny isn't even a big draw now.

Manny is still one of the biggest draws in boxing. Top 5 easy.

No doubt, but nothing like he once was. Speaking from an American stand point, he definitely has international appeal.

There’s no way Manny fights Crawford. He’d be asking for a whooping.
Can see Manny getting it on with Mikey Garcia at welter once crowds are allowed again for one more big big payday.
