A bridge too far is facing a prime light heavyweight at light heavyweight.

We saw how sluggish he was against Kovalev, although he got the result and scored a heavy KO.

But if he drags Bivol down to 168, all I can say is no skinny, weight weakened guy at 168 is beating this tank.

Bivol said he can make 168 easy. He was teasing it when he wanted to fight Cal Smith, saying if he didn’t wanna come up, he’d go down.

The Kovalev fight even seems suspect to me. Kovalev didn't fight like Kovalev, he fought like a guy going through the motions. Did he even throw a significant power punch the whole fight?

Well he was ahead on my card at the stoppage.

Hearn: It'll Take Canelo Going Completely Outside Weight Class, Comfort Zone To Get Beat

"It’s gonna take something, you know, a bit like Lomachenko, where he had to almost go to a weight class really to get beat,” Hearn said during a post-fight press conference early Sunday morning. “You know, he was a featherweight, a super featherweight [and then a lightweight]. And with Canelo Alvarez, you know, he [was] a welterweight, probably a light middleweight who went to middle. Now he goes to super middle. You know he can make 160. But, you know, he has to take the big challenges. And, you know, I saw some names like Bivol and Beterbiev and, you know, you have to go out, completely outside of your weight class and comfort zone to beat Canelo Alvarez.”

“You know, I mean, you saw Golovkin – two tremendous fights [versus Alvarez], very, very close,”
Hearn said. “Can Golovkin do that again? Can the movement of Billy Joe Saunders cause him enough problems? But you’ve gotta hit him hard to keep him off. You know, Callum punches hard, but couldn’t put a dent in him, really, at any time. And, unfortunately, when you’ve got a fighter as good as that, who has a chin like that, it makes it very difficult.”

He won't beat Briedis, whom I consider the man at the CW. He probably can beat the second tier CWs like one-dimensional Dorticos and enough vulnerable Glowacki with Makabu. He won't beat Okolie, who looks like a threatening comer of the division.

He won't beat anybody in the HW top 20. The likes of Chisora, Kownacki, Breazeale and Hammer will overwhelm him. Probably he can handle the likes of Charr, Kiladze, Lucas Browne, Dave Allen, David Price.
I'm not sure on the HW bit, I couldn't honestly say I would give him no chance against Joe Parker?

I'd be impressed if he could beat Bivol and/or Beterbiev (on a level playing field.) Otherwise I think super-middleweight and middleweight has been pretty weak of late and flatters Alvarez somewhat. He's just beaten Callum Smith, not Walker Smith.

I honestly think you guys are mad, unless this is joke that has gone over my head.

I've had a quick search and Canelo is 5' 8" apparently. Joe Parker is 6' "4 and David Price is 6' 8". Even Dave Allen batters Canelo, these guys are too big and too strong.

Canelo, despite his obvious quality, can't compete with any half serious heavyweight. Even a journeyman heavy would fancy the job, or have a I completely lost the plot?

I dont even think Canelo can compete at cruiser. This is a bizarre conversation.

Parker? you have lost the plot. Parker is 6'3+, 240lb, world class...

Don't know. But I'm struggling to think of a 5'8" heavyweight to compare with 😄🙄

That's where I disagree, in the context of boxing ability I'm not convinced Parker is all that good. Height/reach is the only advantage he has over Canelo. He doesn't do anything exceptional and doesn't have massive power; can you honestly say he hits harder than Kovalev for example? I think Parker is rightly considered a top 10 heavyweight but in reality there is such a huge chasm between the top 2 or 3 in the division and everyone else that doesn't mean much.

Whatever the answer is to the question of "what is the bridge too far for cinammon?" its definitely not Avni Yildirim. Unless he dispatches Anvi quicker than Eubank, it gives Eubank something to brag about I guess.

lol if Canelo fought Chisora, Whyte, Parker, even Bakole... just just need to lean on him for 5 rounds and he'd be fvcked. Imagine how weak he's knees would become

Parker is a lot bigger, A lot stronger, A lot more powerful and a lotttt more durable than Kov. Parker would beat the shit out of Kov and stop him in a couple of rounds. Ill admit canelo might put up more resistance but he still gets beat up bad and stopped.

A bridge too far was Golovkin as far as actually winning the fight, but when the judges are gonna give it to you regardless you'll win a lot of fights that might otherwise be too much for you.

I figure he could beat some Third Tier Heavyweights. Not sure who would be considered 2nd Tier.
Andy Ruiez :maybe:
he ain't too tall and super squidgy
