I wouldn't think there'd be a whole hell of a lot of money in this match. Khan and Brook are both well established as what they are now. Very good fighters who can't ever win the big one.

British fans are suckers. It will sell over here with the right promotion. No interest abroad though, I agree.

I would find a stream, as would other hardcore boxing fans, but the general fans, they would eat it up. PPV would sell well still.

I think when Khan does this, its like a woman who doesn't want her ex back, but wants him jumping through hoops for her, to make her feel good and in control. Amir has been doing this for years and has had lots of opportunities to just make the fight happen. I think he gets a kick out of it.

Eddie Hearn Says There’s “Still Value” In An Amir Khan – Kell Brook Fight

I can hear the groans already! Eddie Hearn has said to IFL TV how talks will begin in the coming weeks for an Amir Khan Vs. Kell Brook fight. Yes, the one-time all-British blockbuster that everyone wanted to see. But now, with the fight so many years removed from its prime, does anyone still want to see it? Khan recently called Brook out whilst he was in Dubai, stating how “it’s time to put him in his place.”

No matter Brook, 39-3(27) had been calling Khan out for the longest time, only for Khan, 34-5(21) to take other fights instead. Brook gave up calling his rival out. But now, as Hearn has confirmed, the fight could be back on. Talk about better late than never!

“He never wanted to do the fight when there was so much money involved,” Hearn said of Khan. “Now, there’s a lot less money involved, but I’d still like to do the fight. I messaged him the other day, “Do you want to talk about it?” He said “Yeah, when I’m back from Dubai. We can have a chat.” There’s still value in the fight. It’s not as big as it once was, but we’ll see.”

Is there still value in this fight, one between two 34-year-olds who are a number of years past their best? In all honesty, plenty of people would still watch Khan Vs. Brook if it took place this summer, but no way should this fight be a pay-per-view offering. Not now. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it won’t be P-P-V.

Brook was badly beaten by Terence Crawford in his last fight, while in his last big fight Khan was also beaten by Crawford. Now it’s a case of who has more left. Khan still has great hand speed, while Brook will always feel he has the power to take Khan out. The fight should have taken place back in 2014, yet Brook Vs. Khan (who is the A-side today?) could finally happen here in 2021.

One of the easiest jobs for the promoters will be picking a tag-line for the fight: “Finally!” springs to mind.

I smell another humiliation for Khan. He thinks he's going to hit him like Crawford and it's going to be all over. Will probably be the other way round. He looked utterly fragile a couple of years ago versus Vargas, wobbled by glancing blows, and his chin will only have got worse. Another highlight reel KO to add to the collection.

Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook should take place in Pakistan, says Davies

Welterweight Amir Khan plans on starting negotiations for a domestic level fight against former world champion Kell Brook. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has already been in contact with Khan (34-5, 21 KOs), and they’ll be beginning negotiations soon.

Some of the important things that will need to be decided are the location, weight, date, and the purse split for the Khan vs. Brook match.

With no boxing being allowed in the UK right now due to government restrictions, the Khan – Brook match might need to be staged abroad somewhere.

Writer Gareth Davies thinks it’s a great idea to stage the fight in a large stadium in Pakistan. With Khan’s popularity, he and Brook (39-3, 27 KOs) could bring in a tremendous crowd if fans are allowed to attend live sporting events in that country in the next four to five months.

Fans still interested in Khan vs. Brook

“I saw Amir a month ago, and we talked about it,” said Gareth Davies to IFL TV. “He mentioned that if there was going to be one more fight, he wanted to have it against Kell Brook.

“I said why not have it a place like Lahore in front of 120,000, and make it a spectacle. Do something really different. I’d like to see that fight.

“There’s still some appeal. It’s not the blockbuster stadium fight that it was in a football stadium that it was two years ago or before they stepped up to middleweight, vis-a-vis the Canelo fight for Khan and the Golovkin fight for Brook.”

It’s questionable whether the British boxing fans will want to purchase the Khan-Brook fight on Sky Box Office. Both fighters are considered shot, and neither is relevant as far as the top welterweights go.

Kell, 34, will need to give the green light to take the fight with Khan to a foreign country.

Given how much interest the former IBF welterweight champion Brook has had in fighting Khan for the last 15 years, it likely won’t be a game-changer if he wants to stage the fight outside of the UK.

Brook is coming off a fourth-round knockout loss to Terence Crawford last November in the U.S. It wasn’t one of Brook’s better performances, and it’s unclear whether he has anything left at this point in his 16-year professional career.

Brook’s punching power is still present, but his punch resistance may have taken a hit. The shot that Crawford hurt Brook with was a weak right hook that was similar to a jab.

Khan – Brook in Pakistan?

“That might have been even three years ago now,” said Davies. “That’s what I was saying to Amir. Surely, doing it somewhere like Pakistan. You could do it before or after a T20 game where there are massive crowds would make it more of a spectacle.

There’s still an appetite [for Khan vs. Brook], but there’s no way they’re selling out Wembly Stadium for that fight anymore. Not that it was a Wembley Stadium fight necessarily, but yeah, I’d like to see it.”

Staging the fight in Pakistan at least gives the possibility that a large crowd will be in attendance. If Khan and Brook waited until crowds were allowed back in for UK events, they might not bring in many fans.

If Hearn dropped the price to a manageable number, the fans might be willing to purchase tickets. It’s doubtful that he would, though.

Great ending for Khan and Brook’s careers

“It rounds the corner for both of them in their careers,” said Davies about Khan and Brook. “Forever we’ll be saying, ‘Those guys should have fought each other.’

"There will be many moans that they’re fighting each other like Mayweather and Pacquiao, three years too late, but it would be good to see it for the both of them for the ends of their careers.

“Of course, it will,” said Davies about the interest in the Khan – Brook fight heating up the weak of the fight. There will be a lot of debate, you know? ‘Will Kell knockout Amir? Will Amir’s speed be too much for Kell? What to do they got left?’

“Both men have suffered losses to [Terence] Crawford, of course. ‘Do they both have one fight left in them?’ I’m sure they’ll both pull out all the stops, and then they have the debate of which weight they fight at.

“Kell will want it at 147. Amir might want it at 143. It could go back and forth, couldn’t it?

“The divide; It’s a 50-50 fight, but let’s first secure the right weight, first of all, that they’re going to do it at, and let’s get it on,”
said Davies.

Potentially, Khan vs. Brook would be a good ending for their respective careers, but that’ll depend on many things. If the numbers are PPV poor, it would be a bad ending.

Just for some perspective. Khan got paid £7M ..... that’s seven million pounds sterling to fight Billy Dib - a washed up featherweight.

That’s the kind of money he can make in the Middle East - and for a nondescript opponent. Out there, there’s people who have more money than sense, more money than they know what to do with. So the Brook fight; well I can’t see Khan taking it unless it’s for some serious wonga. Or he free genuinely just wants to beat Brook.

I just think his actual boxing knowledge and insights are really, really weak based on everything I've ever heard/read and he tries to just skate his way through with a combination of bluster and bombast. Genuinely can't remember him ever offering accurate, perceptive thoughts.
(Agree re. Bunce by the way).

Kell Brook accepts Amir Khan’s challenge for fight in 2021 – ‘There’s only one winner and that’s me’

Kell Brook has given a positive response after Amir Khan named him as the opponent he wants to face this year.

The fight is long overdue as the British rivals have been linked with one another for almost a decade now.

At first, Brook was a rising welterweight contender around the time Khan was champion in weight class below.

Then Khan was dethroned and moved up to join his fellow Brit at 147lbs.

Brook then won his world title in late 2014 and demand for the pair to meet was at an all-time high.

However, despite several attempts over the years that followed, the contest never came to fruition.

Khan told the Khaleej Times last month: “I wanna fight again around March or April and there are so many names out there.

“There are so many deals on the table, in the Middle East as well. So, let’s see how that plays out.”

Regarding who he wanted to face, he said: “I think someone like Kell Brook, who has always been running his mouth, I think put him in his place now.

“I think it is about time now to put him in his place and shut him up for good.”

Today, Brook has replied by telling White and Jordan on talkSPORT: “I don’t know if it’s a publicity stunt of if he does actually want it.

“It sounds like he does and that’s music to my ears.

“It’s a fight that everyone’s wanted for a long time, so if it does happen, happy days.

“I think it’s clear that I want the fight.

“It just caps the career I’ve had, to be in a fight such as that – the highlight of the career.

“I believe they [the fans] still want it.

“If we can get it across the line and it can happen, I think it’ll definitely catch fire again once we start promoting the fight.

“And what a fight it’ll be.”

When asked what would happen if the fight did come to fruition, Brook concluded: “There’s only one winner and that’s me.

“It’s always been me and, as soon as he’s signed that contract, he’ll know pretty quick as well. I’ll be taking that win.

“I’m just confident in that fight, I’ve seen his fights and I just believe that it’s a great fight us meshing together.

“I just believe that I’ve got the shot and I’ll find a way to catch his chin and end the night.

“I’m confident I’d knock him out, definitely yeah.”

In a crazy way I think the fact both have loss and out of the world title picture...it adds to the appeal now...its just a good old domestic dust up...for the right to be called the #1 Welter in the country...nothing more, nothing less.

Likewise I think a fight I've been championing Luke Campbell vs Liam Walsh got a bit more sealable after Luke's loss

I don’t think the winner would be the British No1.

I hope they don’t fight. It’s always sad to see once top sportsmen who have clearly lost it performing like a shadow of their peak selves - getting punched hard in the face when their punch resistance has obviously gone adds another layer of sadness to watching boxers in such a state.

whats the point of this fight now, 5 years ago it would of been a huge fight ,a real intersting fight, now who cares , dont what matter who wins no bearing on the contenders or champions, so it means they have to turn it in to a grudge match ,yeah right if you hate each other so bad why didnt you fight 5 years ago

Hearn: Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook is Competitive, Intriguing Fight

Hearn, who promotes neither fighter, would love to be involved as the promoter.

"It's not as big as it once was, but I'd still like to see it," said Hearn to Sky Sports. "I text Kell and spoke to Amir, we will catch up. For novelty? It is still a competitive, intriguing fight. It's not on the immediate radar but if we sit down and it works out? I'd like to see it.

"Khan gave an interview saying, 'I would love to fight Brook and knock him out.' I thought: 'I wish you said that three years ago!' I've heard it before. Khan hasn't boxed for a long time, his last fight was the Crawford defeat [nearly two years ago]. Brook is coming off the Crawford defeat too so there's a narrative there. It's always going to be spicy. If there's a deal to be done, maybe we will see it."

Khan did fight a few months after the Crawford fight against Billy Dib of course.
