Snipes was a good fighter with a nice right hand.I remember Trevor trying to taunt him and Renaldo let him have it.Page beat him, but Snipes was coming on strong in the later rounds to make it close.Snipes also had good hand speed.

Snipes was a good fighter whose main drawback seemed to be his temprement which saw him blow a bit hot and cold during his career.
I thought he was stopped far too early against Holmes and its a shame he didn't get another title shot.
Renaldo is another who would have a ball with most of todays haeavyweights.
Uh Oh!!!!!!!!!!

I remember there being a big call for him to be given a shot at Tyson's title, because Snipes was a contender for most of his career until the last few years, but team Tyson didn't want to know. Holmes was the only guy to stop him, and that in a big step up in class for Snipes.
I seem to remember that he was a pretty slick fighters, stick and mover with good power, I remember thinking how cool his name sounded when I was young.

I think Snipes DID get another shot. Lemme check on that. I saw him fight several times ... he was sorta a guy like ... Monte Barrett is today. He was game but unpolished and his awkward style worked to his advantage.
He wasn't THAT good and would have some success and receive some ass whoopins today as he had back then.

If memory serves, Snipes was very brave before being stopped in the latter stages of the fight. Gonzalez was a real cocky git (prolonged the beating) so it was pretty sweet when Bowe destroyed him 18 months later for the WBO belt.
When he first appeared on the scene he looked about 13 years old ... with a big dry ass fucked up afro that woulda gone up like a powder keg if a spark got near it. He was never muscular lookin which also made everyone a little prejudiced when considering his chances with the elite fighters.

He met Greg Page for the USBA belt and lost a SD afterwards. That's it. There were several tough losses for him in that stretch and a few noteworthy wins. Yeah, that'd ruin a guy.

Not that I have heard.
I agree with silkov, the Holmes stoppage seemed a little premature.
