Not that I want to stick up for Allegedly or anything like that, but there's an interesting article on the whole Vivian Harris/Hatton saga in latest Box Monthly.

Manny Steward admits he pulled the plug on that one - too dangerous for Harris he says, plus he says the UK game is full of rough characters, who'd make it very difficult for visiting fighters. Hmmmm....strange thing to say really.
If it went ahead, he said it had to be in Detroit - and like I said at the time - that's just plain daft.

Yes, as some of us suspected at the time, it was all Manny's doing. I think Manny is losing the plot a bit if he thinks a fight can be made for Harris in detroit. If that's his masterplan for managing Harris' career, then I suggest Harris look for a new manager. Harris seems destined to waste his career, he spends more time wrangling with managers and promoters than he does taking meaningful fights.

Apparently one of the stipulations Manny usually has with fighters who he trains, is that he also has a say in managing them, not to mention a cut of their purses in addition to his training fees. In recent years I feel that Manny has been trading on his reputation a bit, and he didn't exactly cover himself in glory in his dealings with Hamed, nor in his fickle about face with Lewis and Klitchsko. The glory days of the Kronk Gym seem a long time now.

ive long lost respect for stweard, who baiscally is whoring himslef since lennox retired. In fgact probably before that, shame he was a great trainer, seems the new breed hold more credence (Roach Mcgirt)

Good post, i thnik someone said a while back that Steward was "A whore to the dollar" and that is true enough...he must be loaded. Don't forget his regular HBO appearances too and involvement in unlicensed Boxing.
