• Less than two years ago Jared Anderson weighed 200lbs (a weight he’d competed at for three years, between 2016 and 2019). He wasn't a prepubescent child during this time period!
• Last April, both Jared Anderson and his trainer said they believed they were too heavy (when he weighed 235lbs) and was trying to get down to 220lbs.
• Instead of losing weight, six months later, he actually gained it. And now he’s a 250lb-er.
• If Anderson continues getting heavier, with his weight following its current trajectory, then his lack of discipline will prevent him from entering the ring in peak physical condition.

Jared Anderson and his trainer, Darrie Riley, obviously disagree with your opinion and share my concerns, because they have both admitted to wanting to compete weighing 220lbs rather than 250lbs.

Instead of ridiculing me, why don’t you instead mock Jared Anderson and his trainers’ own words?
You’re wrong on two fronts. In the RingTV article you’re referencing, Anderson said he wanted to fight below 235, not 220.
Here's a hyperlink to the article:

Anderson has hopes of getting into the ring once a month, when or if boxing resumes this year after the COVID-19 pandemic flatlines. In the meantime, he’s willing to be patient and stay active. Anderson says that he wants to get lighter than the 235 he’s weighed. His trainer, Darrie Riley, would like to see Anderson weigh around 220.

I’m not responsible for your mistakes. Why bother to argue if you flatly-refuse to fact-check?
bobcatbox wrote: 22 Feb 2021, 09:09Again, did you watch the fight and see how good of shape Anderson was actually in?? He looked great.
You clearly didn't read The RING article and nor did you read any of my remarks about Jared Anderson's physical appearance.

Your counter-argument lacks credibility, because you don't read the words of others. And no one else is to blame for your own laziness.
bobcatbox wrote: 22 Feb 2021, 09:09Have you considered that 235 is a long term goal that he’s still very capable of reaching?
When he was 235lbs, he claimed he was trying to lose weight. And immediately ballooned to 250lbs.

Less than two years ago Jared Anderson weighed 200lbs (a weight he’d competed at for three years, between 2016 and 2019). He's gained 50lbs in weight in a shockingly short space of time. Even his own trainer would like to see him 30lbs lighter.

I'll regain my faith in him when he delivers on his promise to control his weight - until then, talk is cheap.

I raised similar "weight gain" concerns about Anthony Joshua during 2017. Hearn, McCracken and Joshua himself were targeting a weight in the region of 236lbs for his October 2017 outing. Instead, the Brit ended up weighing 254lbs.

For the Andy Ruiz Jr. loss, the 6'6" AJ weighed close to 250lbs.

And in the rematch, he faced Ruiz Jr. at 237lbs, just one pound above Rober McCracken's 236lbs target. The Brit kept the weight off for the Kubrat Pulev bout.

Therefore, there's a difference between physical appearance and optimal weight! It's a shame you don't appreciate it!

The age is a huge advantage that puts him far ahead of other prospects. Having the skills to fight professionally at 18-22 versus guys that start at 24-28. At 21 he's still growing, developing reflexes and muscle coordination. There's talk all the time about guys in the 26-34 year old range developing and learning to box. It usually doesn't happen. Great athletes need to develop in the 16-22 year old range.
When he was 235lbs, he claimed he was trying to lose weight. And immediately ballooned to 250lbs.
Have you actually seen the guy or watched him fight or are you just quoting numbers? There's a big difference between a guy putting on 50 lbs at 30 years of age and a growing young man 16-23 years of age. He doesn't look fat at all, he doesn't look lazy or out of shape. At 21 a man's body is still growing and depositing muscle and bone. It looks to me if he keeps growing he could put on 20-30 more pounds and you wouldn't notice it. He certainly doesn't look slow or bulky if you compare how he looks now to a couple years ago. Of course if he puts a ring of fat around his belly that's different.

The important thing now is to avoid major punishment until he's 23-24 and has developed a mature body. Damage at a young age has stunted a lot of prospects. Any guy at this age and level is a long shot but he's far far ahead of the other heavyweights in his age group.

You’ve outdone yourself

You claim that Anderson said he wants to be 220 by quoting his trainer after Anderson said he wants to be lighter than 235. Nowhere did you provide any evidence that Anderson wanted to be 220, only that his trainer wanted him there.

You have now twice evaded the direct question of whether you actually watched the fight, so I’ll assume you did not. Which means you did not get to see his spectacular outing for an 8th professional bout. Nor did you see his physique which appeared in great shape. But I’m the lazy one because I actually watch boxing before I shoot off my opinions that the best American prospect isn’t a hopeless fatty right?

I watched the fight. Read my previous posts about Anderson's physique.

Also, read the hyperlink I provided where I laboured over Anthony Joshua's weight gain. It is staggeringly accurate. It's a Nostradamus-like prediction.

You don't know the difference between physique and optimal fighting weight.

Anyway, I won't answer any more of your questions, because you're becoming abusive and ignorant, since it's clear you aren't reading my words.

I posted a reply but deleted it. Just gonna let EO get the last word in. I really don’t care.

Back to the original point of this now-derailed thread - Anderson has the skills to become heavyweight champ, and he looked in great form VS Ibeh. Looking forward to seeing him against better competition soon. :TU:

You've learned a valuable lesson. EO is full if shite and is in a delusional state. You're best to ignore him, or just mock him like the rest of us. That, my friend, is irrefutable! :OhYes:

Issue is joey will go the distance and promoters want that ko streak intact.

Does travis walker still fight?

Good point. Gerald Washington might be a better choice or maybe Jerry Forrest while he's currently in the boxing public conscious.

Travis Kaufman would be a better shout. He is well beyond Walker (probably Kaufman too for that matter)

I thought you might be confusing the Travises. Kaufman is a tough cookie but I'm confident Anderson would cope with him. It'd be a decent test for him though.

He is showing commendable ambition but he can afford to take it slowly. The trouble is he is at 21, well capable of beating someone like Gerald Washington, but that raises expectations, and once he's done that people aren't going to be too impressed if he's then lined up to fight a BJ Flores or a Joey Abell.

The clamour will be for him to fight bigger names and better opponents. I don't want to see him burnt out at 25.

Much too soon to call him The Goods but what a prospect! Size, speed, reflexes, pop, boxing ability, youth, a little attitude and charisma to boot. A promoter's dream. Best American prospect in decades perhaps. The sky is the limit. A future champ in my humble opinion.

This clown advertises for the Marxist group BLM on his trunks. Everyone should know by now that BLM is a fascist group, created by Democrats to bring destruction to minority cities and communities, and to break up the family unit among black people. Its in their mission statement, look it up. I won't be a fan of someone who is against the black community, and follows a Trojan Horse group like BLM. Democrats created them and antifa to divide Americans. it's a shame more people havent woken up to this yet.

To be fair, co-founders of the BLM, Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza, proudly describe themselves as “trained Marxists”.

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia [Garza] in particular are trained organizers,”

We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” Patrisse Cullors added in an interview with Jared Ball of The Real News Network.

And there definitely used to be a page on the BLM website (until they recently withdrew it) conveying commonly known Marxist mantra, such as their goal to “disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.”

Also, the co-founders of the BLM, Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza, can be seen in this video admitting to being inspired by and also praising Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur—a communist convicted cop-killer who is now a fugitive in Cuba—and chanting the communist slogan, “We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

I’m not expressing a personal opinion here, so please don’t shoot the messenger, since all I’ve done is convey facts (click on the hyperlinks if you don't believe me). :-?

Jeez Guys, Jared Anderson has 8 fights, against 8 nobodies, hasn't fought 15 full professional rounds and we're asking if he will be a champion? He's never had his chin checked, never been in a situation where his opponent wasn't a complete rollover, never been in a situation where he couldn't land punches and had to set them up.

Way way way too early to tell. Sure, he looks great at his level. The questions will be answered as he steps up competitive level.

No we are not asking. One of us was asking. The rest of us fully appreciate that such speculation is extremely premature.
