I was sorry to see the date of birth statistic eliminated because in some cases it's good to know the exact age of the fighter. For example, in the 1980s when Tyson was coming up, boxing broadcasts would list the age, in years and months, of Joe Louis, Floyd Patterson, and others when they won the title, in anticipation of Tyson breaking the record for youngest. Similarly, in the 1990s it was of interest to know Jersey Joe Walcott's exact age when he won the title as Foreman set out to break that record.

i agree, there are some cased when ive tried to figure out the exact age in years a dude was for a certain fight. its helpful for those. admittedly its not a big deal though

my continual main gripe is rather that age disappears outright for inactive fighters.

I presume that is because they want it off for dead fighters but haven't got round to putting in the code to make the distinction. It would be particularly difficult for a fighter they have a date of birth for but no death date, due to them having slipped into obscurity after their career. At what point do you assume they are dead and stop listing an age?

Yes I guess the issue is fighters are either listed as active or inactive. Maybe they need to recode the database and add a deceased category so the date of birth then becomes public. Probably harder than it sounds to implement though.

How can we rank fighters in a division we don't have ?
Does Boxrec intend to add Bridgerweight into the system? Or it more a case of waiting to see if the division actually ever goes anywhere?

It would require a major rewrite of the core code, we are waiting to make sure it takes off before we attempt such a big task.
