Has footage of either of Yoka's Olympic fights against Hrg and Joyce seen the light of day yet, or are they both still buried? I've never been able to find Joyce-Yoka for the gold ever since watching it live on TV. Someone must have it?pound per pound wrote: ↑12 Mar 2021, 17:06Then you have not seen him fight. Hrgovic has pretty fast hands for a big guy, no one has made him miss yet. His accuracy is excellent. For a guy 6'6 245lbs with and 82" reach, Hrgovic is a skilled super heavyweight. He goes to the body well and has an inside game, which for the really big guys is semi rare.Fightnight Scores wrote: ↑27 Feb 2021, 04:34 I've not seen much of Hrgovic, but from what I have seen, it doesn't tally up with some of the hype he gets.
Big guy, can punch, but he isn't particularly fast nor does anything out of the ordinary.
Hunter is cagey and technically very good, and awkward. He could have the speed and iq to win rounds outboxing the big man, so long as he can avoid any big, looping shots.
Never down as a pro or amateur and battle tested as a young lad vs Wilder, Haye and Klitschko in the gym with favorable results as an amateur, he's the heir apparent. Never mind the bronze Olympic medial, he was robbed in the Yoka fight. He won it 2-1. Otherwise he's fighting for gold.

I can't agree. You describe Hrg earlier in his career before he got right hand crazy and fell in love with his 'perceived' power. Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
hrgovics progression has been terrible, his opponent quality got decent very quick then actually declined. and his performances have gotten worse in the last 3 years i think.
He is so naturally big and strong, but got biger and stronger and stiffer.., i think he was best when he had learnt a bit in the pros but still had a big armature influence, so would box until he found the right shot then sit on that. Now seems flat footed and he just clubs through people. interesting to see if he goes back to boxing more once the opponents get good.

The fight was up for a short period of time and then pulled. The entire Rio Olympics was soiled with bad decisions.Cyclops wrote: ↑12 Mar 2021, 17:26Has footage of either of Yoka's Olympic fights against Hrg and Joyce seen the light of day yet, or are they both still buried? No you don't see it. Boxing finally has a heavyweight who can box, punch and take a punch. He fights aggressively. I don't think he's the biggest puncher in the game, rather I see all around ability.oogiebe wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021, 00:40I can't agree. Watch once Hunter is taken care of Fury and Joshua will be doing their best to avoid meeting him.

There a date for this one yet?
Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
For me it all depends on which Hrgovic turns up. This is the man I was thinking would be the most likely to eventually take Joshua's titles. That was before Fury resurrected his career. He seemed to me to be the real deal. Big, powerful, good technique, good jab, good chin, calm and calculating. Many people think Joyce got robbed of Olympic gold by Yoka, which you could make a good case for, but the semi-final decision for Yoka over Hrgovic was not so much controversial as downright outrageous.
The trouble is that version of Filip Hrgovic has not been seen in a while. Instead we have seen laborious performances by a man who appears to think he doesn't need to try too hard. He hits hard enough that he doesn't have to worry about working for openings. He doesn't need to keep up his defensive skills because his opponent is going to be worrying too much about his right hand, to be throwing many punches back. Besides, he has has a great chin and those skills are still in the locker if required.
If he approaches Hunter with the same respect he showed to Molina, then Hunter will beat him by decision. Hunter has speed, skills, a good engine and a positive attitude. I don't hold his loss to Usyk against him. Usyk was way superior to any current fighter at the 200lb limit. Same goes for Povetkin. Post-prime no doubt, but still an elite heavyweight and Sasha was fortunate to get the draw.
Hunter is a good fighter if nothing special. Hrg needs to bring his A-game or he will come unstuck.

Hunter vs. Hrgovic: IBF Heavyweight Title Eliminator Set For April 6 Purse Bid Hearing
The purse bid hearing is open to all IBF-registered promoters, with participants required to submit a non-refundable $5,000 sanctioning body fee. The winning bid must be accompanied by a non-refundable sum of 10% of the total amount, per IBF purse bid rules.
As the higher-ranked challenger, Hunter is entitled to the favorable end of a 60/40 split of the winning purse bid amount. Hunter (19-1-1, 13KOs)—a second-generation boxer from Las Vegas whose late father Mike ‘The Bounty’ Hunter was a mid-level contender in the 1980s and 1990s—is ranked number-four by the IBF. Croatia’s Hrgovic (12-0, 10KOs)—a 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist—is currently ranked number-five.
With the fight officially ordered, neither boxer can accept an interim fight. A deal can still be reached prior to the official purse bid hearing, although little movement in more than a month suggests an unlikely scenario. Should either side fail to comply with the terms of the purse bid, said boxer will be demoted to a spot outside of the Top 10 in the IBF rankings and thus ineligible to compete in an IBF-sanctioned bout for a minimum of six month.

Looked a lot better at 230 than at 245. Pretty flat footed now, seems to have cashed in the jab for an overhand right. Chin never tested in small gloves by anyone with a pulse. Been pro for 4 years and has gone backward in both opponents and performances.pound per pound wrote: ↑12 Mar 2021, 17:06Then you have not seen him fight. I still rate him, but i think his stocks gone down in the last 2 years. Opponents worse, activity worse, Performances look worse, and honestly his resume to date for a 28 year old Olympic medalist who has been pro 4 years is trash.

Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
I hope it happens and I gotta root hard for Hunter. Lots of dudes talk about wanting to get lots of fights but Hunter shows how it is really done when people want to get fights. He has simply gotten where he is because of his desire and willingness to do what it takes to get in the ring with other top guys. And keeps showing he belongs or better every time. If he runs much farther and with Usyk in the division he will have to be in line with the fans for getting his chance at some revenge.
I also like how it is in line with the family nickname. Dude is the real deal bounty hunter at HW. He wants to and does make some nice purses but he is not holding out and trying to milk people. They put a fair deal on the table for another mans head and he goes out and hunts it. Takes on the FBI top 10 most wanted routinely. The way fights get made with him reminds me of James Toney. Guys with the desire just make themselves part of the big fights no matter who they have around them.

Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
He's often compared to/ matched against, much bigger men and doesn't come up short. He has a great attitude and doesn't seem fazed or intimidated by anyone. He has earned my respect and I'm sure that of boxing fans generally.
Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
Picking Hrgovic by decision in this. I think he'll pick up his game in this one and be too big and good for a game but outgunned Hunter.
Re: Michael Hunter vs. Filip Hrgovic
I'll pick Hunter by decision. I think Hrg has regressed and is ill prepared to fight a slick fighter like Hunter at this point.
