Good luck to DG. Maybe he'll gain strength and endurance moving up, instead of so many spending a lot of time cutting weight when it could be spent training and honing skills.
Crawford wasn't keen on fighting him, offering Amir Khan $2 million more, so who knows how he would have done vs Bud. DG KOd Khan much easier than Bud did.
Danny was in deep trouble in that fight before landing a homerun.
Also, Khan brought a lot more to the table across the pond and beyond.
Danny wasn't in deep trouble ffs. He has the chin to withstand Thurman, Spence, etc. He was definitely behind in the first two rounds, but honestly, who isn't with Khan? Even Canelo was. It was a matter of time, and it should have been stopped in the 3rd.
Crawford, like Canelo, took on Khan in joke fights because he has a name. Crawford could have fought Garcia and Canelo could have fought Andrade....or hey! How about any 154lber?! Drag the weak assed chin Khan to 155? Pathetic cherry picks by both guys.

Hindsight is 20/20 is cliché for a reason.
Danny’s face was falling apart. If he had not turned it around so dramatically he was facing a potential TKO.
It was a great win for Danny but he came far closer to losing than Canelo and TCraw.
One man’s cherry pick is another man’s good business decision.

Dang. Not a single vote that Danny can be a champ at 154.
Completely agree.

Like I said before, if Canelo vacates his 168lbs titles, which is a realistic possibility, we may experience a daisy-chain reaction, whereby the newly-vacated super-middleweight titles are captured by Plant, Benavidez and Jermall Charlo.
Jermell Charlo could then potentially move up to 160lbs to challenge for his brothers old WBC middleweight strap, which could result in Danny Garcia competing for one of the vacant WBC, WBA or IBF 154lbs titles.
My theory might sound far-fetched, but Canelo worked with the PBC during his most recent outing and will likely do so again in the future. I can't imagine him returning to 168lbs after competing at 190lbs.
Meanwhile, Plant, Benavidez, Danny Garcia, Jermall and Jermell Charlo are all fellow PBC stablemates.
And most of the world-rated fighters competing at 154lbs are PBC fighters.
So Garcia will definitely receive a title shot at 154lbs and he could be matched against one of the weaker (but highly-rated) contenders, someone like Michel Soro or Jack Culcay, for one of the vacant straps. Danny is still capable of beating those type of guys.
It’s all about how Al Haymon decides to manoeuvre the various chess pieces around the PBC chess board.

your theory is.. in short... shîte.
canelo isn't stepping up to 175 to face much bigger men like smith, bivol and he won't even go near beterbiev with that tool they take 5he hot flesh off a roast with.
for the simple reason he'd have to face a physical disadvantage he and his team know to well they can't overcome.
they are far from stupid.
i'd like nothing more than to see him try conquer 175, i'd be very surprised if it will happen.
he will stay at 168.

Oryt who is the one that has just voted that he’ll become world champion?
Re: Danny Garcia: “I Feel Like My Next Chapter In My Career Is At 154”
Danny Garcia says he wants fights against Keith Thurman, Mikey Garcia, and Kell Brook when he returns to the ring. Garcia’s comeback is long overdue, and he’s going to need to make a move soon, or else it’ll be too late.
A rematch with ‘One Time’ Thurman (30-1-1 22 KOs) would be interesting for Danny if he could persuade the former WBA/WBC 147-lb champion to take it.
Thurman has been calling out Errol Spence Jr, and he might get lucky this year if ‘The Truth’ defeats Yordenis Ugas next month in their unification fight on April 16th.
The former two-division world champion Garcia (36-3 21 KOs) hasn’t fought since his loss to IBF/WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. in December 2020. Still, he’s showing interest in restarting his stalled career.
Danny says a fight against WBO welterweight champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford is one that he’d like because the two have “history” from their amateur days.
Garcia just turned 34 on March 20th, and it’s pretty clear that he’s going to need to get up off the couch soon if he doesn’t want to be forgotten entirely by the boxing public.
“I didn’t speak no names yet, but I would love to fight Thurman again. I would love to fight Kell Brook,” said Danny Garcia to Fight Hub TV. “I would love to fight Mikey Garcia or potentially a Crawford fight. Not next, but that’s a big fight because we have a history.”
Danny might be too late to fight the 35-year-old Kell Brook because he’s expected to hang up his gloves after one more fight.
If Garcia wanted to fight the former IBF welterweight champion Brook, he should have done it a long time ago because his career has been sinking since his back-to-back defeats against Gennadiy Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr in 2016 and 2017.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Danny Garcia’s net worth is $8 million. You can only imagine the money Danny would have made if he’d been active in the last two years since his loss to Spence in 2020.
That’s how it goes, though. It might be too late for Danny to get the big fights he’s talking about because the only ones worthwhile, Thurman and Crawford, are trying to get the Spence fight.
“I feel like he needs somebody like me,” said Danny about Crawford. “There’s no big fights in the welterweight division without Danny Garcia. All you have to do is look at the numbers.
“When Thurman fought me, there were 16,500 people in the Barclay’s Center [in 2017], and 5 million people were watching. In his very next fight when he fought Josesito Lopez [after two years out of the ring in 2019], there was nobody in the stands, nobody cared about the fight,” said Garcia.
Danny’s fight with Thurman might have been ancient history, as far as the younger boxing fans go. That fight took place in 2017, and it was too long ago for the newer fans of the sport to have heard about it.
Danny and Thurman should have fought a rematch years ago instead of happening now or next year.
Will boxing fans still be interested in seeing Danny and Thurman battle five or six years later? Some might, but not nearly as many as it could have been.
“When I fought Porter, we put 14,000 people in the Barclays Center [in 2018] and did crazy numbers on Showtime,” said Danny. “In his very next fight, he fought Ugas [in March 2019] in California, and there was no one there. No one even cared about the fight.
“All you have to do is look at the numbers. There are no big fights in the welterweight division without Danny Garcia. The numbers don’t lie. All you have to do is look at the scorecards,” said Garcia.

Good grief, he wants to resurrect the Cottoweight aka the 155lb championship?
He needs to get his backside into gear at 154; what has he actually done since moving up?

I don't think he'd necessarily be a better fighter at 154. But he must see some opportunity with the fact that Jermell is undisputed champ. Either you beat him and become the new undisputed champion all with just one win, or you hope that Jermell leaves the division and vacates four different belts (easy to collect one).

Yeah, I know. They have the same last name -- how would it not have been epic?

I wouldn't doubt they could put together him vs Broner for a belt at 154 if each of 'em got a win vs a Bum first.
These guys are classic cases of dudes who are Multi Time Champions without ever being THE GUY in their weight class.

“That’s what we want,” said Garcia to YSM Sports Media. “That’s what we want. I want to fight Lara for the middleweight title at 155.”
“I’m trying to be a three-division world champion before it’s all said and done. I’m going right for it.”

Who's the front runners for a fight with him at 154 ?
He should fight David Benavidez.
The height and reach difference is a massive 6 inches, Bene would tower over him and Danny ain't swift enough these days to get inside the jab unscathed.
I feel like it would end up being hard to watch. Benevidez can jab all night, and bust up Garcia to the point where his momma might not recognise him anymore.

He could win a title. 154 is hellaciously weak outside of Charlo and Castano. Castano might not have his chin anymore with those hellacious rounds against Charlo, though. Would be fun to see Garcia fight Fundora, but a vacant title against a weak opponent seems like a no brainer for PBC to make happen when Charlo moves up or gets stripped.
