It should always be like that for major fights.
Arum was saying 45-45 guarantee.. remaining 10 goes to the winner..

or can do 40-40 guarantee, with 20 going to the winner.
That sounds the most reasonable.
I suppose you believe that Canelo and Billy Joe Saunders should receive 40% minimum of the purse pot, with the winner receiving the remainder?

Do you think that the purses for Mayweather-Berto fight should have been handled in the same manner?

And if the answer to both of these questions is a resounding “no”, then you have to apply the same reasoning to the Spence-Crawford purse split.

Why should the Spence-Crawford purse split be equaled to those ones?

50/50 is what’s right. 60/40 Spence is probably fair. He’s sold PPV before and will bring back buyers. But anything less is an insult and should be considered bad faith negotiating.

For the sake of transparency, I’ve excluded the journalists personal opinions, even though I agree with some of them, since I wanted to focus on Terence Crawford’s very own words, because he’s recently admitted to lacking interest in facing Thurman, Ortiz Jr., Spence Jr. and Porter.

We also know that Crawford recently argued that he'd deserve 60% of the purse split to face Errol Spence Jr.

The only fighter that Crawford really wants to fight is Manny Pacquiao – a man that’ll be on the cusp of turning 43 years of age, coupled with being inactive for at least two years, if they actually agreed to face each other later in the year (which isn't going to happen).

"Crawford says 50-50 purse split for Spence might not do it"

“I don’t know, to be honest, because I’m past that,” said Terence Crawford to the AK & Barak Show to DAZN when asked if he would fight Errol Spence if he were offered a 50-50 split.

“Now it’s, ‘You’re on the wrong side of the street.’ I’m not going to be playing these games where they say, ‘We’ll fight you when we want to fight you. It’s on our terms.’ It doesn’t work that way with me.

“I don’t know,” said Crawford when asked what it will take for him to want to fight Spence.

“I don’t know where everybody is getting that information, but that’s what people do, that’s what media do,” said Crawford about boxing fans speculating whether he’ll leave Top Rank after October when his contract expires.

‘Ugas because he’s got something to offer,” said Crawford when asked if he’d rather fight WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas or Shawn Porter.

“Why would I choose Shawn Porter with nothing to gain when I can choose Ugas. I’m fighting for something. That’s a no-brainer. Everybody in the game, or should I say, 65% of the people felt that Ugas beat Shawn Porter.

“Given the fact that if me and him were to fight and how the fight goes and how I look against him, then they would compare that to the Shawn Porter fight.

“When Shawn Porter is commenting, people say, ‘You didn’t even give Ugas his rematch. You got to fight Ugas.’ That’s always in the back of Shawn Porter. You got to fight Ugas,” said Crawford.

“Everybody felt that Ugas won. Some people say, ‘I’ll give it to Shawn, but it was close.’ It was never a clean-cut victory.

“Kind of like Errol Spence. Some people feel that Porter pulled it off with the knockdown. I felt it was close either way, but I’m not the judge of the fight,” said Crawford.

Spence has said he has told Al Haymon he wants Crawford after Pac, or he’s moving to 154..

“Once I get that belt, like I told [PBC head] Al [Haymon], I want that fight with Crawford but if it doesn't happen then I’ll probably just move up [to 154 pounds] or something,” Spence told Barbershop Conversations. “I’m not going to waste my time trying to fight somebody who says they don't have any interest in me anymore. He doesn't want to fight me anymore.

“I most likely have two more fights at 147 … I’m going to go across the street to [talk to Top Rank and] see what they're talking about. If they are not talking about nothing, I'm moving up to 154 … After the Pacman fight hopefully we can make something happen [with Crawford].”

Crawford has publicly moved on from a potential super fight several times in recent months, most notably after Spence’s comments in December when the Texan stated: "I'm the big dog at the welterweight division. He gotta take a backseat and take that 60-40 [split] or 70-30, whatever we give him."

I wonder if Crawford faces Josesito Lopez in October?

That sounds about right.

After Spence beats Pacquiao, I'd say the split should be even wider than 60/40. Crawford could've taken the money, and as time passes, and Spence continues to grow his starpower while Crawford continues to stagnate, Crawford is worthy of even less of a purse split.

I think Crawford would win the fight if it takes place for the record, but he's letting Spence just pass him up with little to no effort.

Crawford could easily negotiate a rematch clause if he wins, and demand the bigger share of the purse on the second fight. He recently said he is beyond even thinking about fighting Errol Spence. It makes me think his confidence of beating him isn't very high.
