Sorry Slim, had to quote you because it was an interesting summation.
Aggiejabbie would be a toss up on who got caught hard first IMO.
Did you mean Oogiebie or Ajagba? :D

Well that's better than Stiverne or Breazeale could manage against Wilder. :D

It's a shame Polite-Coffie is already 35 because he looks a capable fighter but obviously not a long term asset. From the other side of the pond it does appear that Jared Anderson is the only young American with genuine long-term potential as of right now.

I hope he turns out to be the real deal because boxing needs the USA if it isn't going to continue its slide into obscurity, and for there to be a resurgence of interest in its traditional heartland there needs to be a genuine heavyweight star from the US.

Wilder could always talk the talk but unfortunately that's as far is it went. Maybe this guy will give Blue-blood, Dontae, and those other saddos a proper bandwagon to hitch themselves to. Here's hoping. :D

Coffe is ready to rumble, should go in with Trev Bryant or the winner of the fight with the two undefeated but fought nobody Americans that’s soon (forgot there names).

fornicate if I were him I’d be screaming Ortiz’s name... someone’s gotta be the one to put that old man away and take the credit from the Americans that think he was sensational and still think he is world class.

Jack lost to Hubeaux albeit only by maj dec. I would want to see Yoka aim a lot higher, why not Carlos Takam they are both French so it shouldn't be too challenging logistically. Don't leave it until Takam is washed, rinsed, and hung out to dry like you did with Duhaupas, Tony.

Sorry we're talking about Anderson aren't we? No I don't think there's any point flying over an African from Europe when there are plenty of locals for him to cut his teeth on. Not literally, don't panic Evander. I would say best not be too ambitious because he might well beat a Jerry Forrest or a Gerald Washington but then it invites criticism if he were to follow that fighting a Don Haynesworth or a Josh Tufte.

How about Jonnie Rice or Chazz Witherspoon or maybe one of Tommy Morrison's sons? Actually they only want to fight stiffs so good luck with that last suggestion. Maybe the loser of the approaching fight between Jermaine Franklin and Stephan Shaw, or even everyone's favourite exercise in felling lumber, Daniel Martz?

A good test for this stage of his career that probably wouldn't cause too many raised expectations might be Joe Cusumano, who is not as well known as Washington (no not that Washington) or even Forrest, but might even be more challenging.

Possibly Breazeale, Charles Martin and Ajagba. With an outside chance on Kownacki and Chisora I'd make him the underdog in those fights though.

hmmm....let's say efe and big dom, who i think looks a bit spent. btw, while talking about eye injuries, dom for many rounds was clearly in pain from his eye vs wallin, but showed his usual big heart and gritted it out

helenius can be very inconsistent and jah could beat him already on one of his lesser days, like when that belarus journeyman got robbed vs helly

Jared Anderson hasn't achieved a damn thing in the amateurs nor the pros. He hasn’t faced anyone of any note yet.

And I really can’t get excited about someone that will very likely be protected and engage in a continuous stream of mismatches against journeymen for the next four to five years whilst he learns his trade.

People often forget about the sheer volume of young unbeaten heavyweight prospects that eventually lose as soon as they face anyone half-decent.

And for all we know, Anderson’s career could potentially follow the same route as previous hype jobs, such as: David Price, Michael Grant, Tyrell Biggs, Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Odlanier Solis, Duane Bobick, Mac Foster, Peter McNeely, Lou Savarese etc.

Anyway, back to your list…

The only fighter I think he’s capable of beating, at this point in time, is the robotic and clearly limited Efe Ajagba.

That said, Jared Anderson is a young fighter and time is on his side. So I’ve not completely dismissed his chances of eventually progressing contender level status. I don't blame others for being optimistic about him.

In the meantime, I’ll refrain from riding the Jared Anderson hype train until he delivers an impressive performance against someone half-decent. And I’m guessing we’ll be waiting a long time for this to happen.

That a little harsh EO. He is 21 maybe 22 now. What do we expect him to have achieved? Yes I know Mike Tyson, Floyd Patterson but they are exceptions and don't follow the normal heavyweight pattern.

He won the US Nationals in consecutive years as a junior. I would hope he takes his time before facing the iron of the division. He has shown admirable ambition in stopping Rodney Hernandez and in demanding to fight Kingsley Ibeh who was getting some attention. His resume after an insignificant number of fights compares with that of most of the promising older prospects. He looks to me that he has confidence in his ability and won't be satisfied beating up cans while awaiting a title-shot in the years to come like some I could name.

His greatest achievement so far is to have emerged as being head and shoulders above any contemporary US Heavyweights who are young enough to qualify as a prospect in the strictest sense.

Yeah he could turn out to be another Seth Mitchell but so what if he does? Embrace your right to be wrong occasionally EO. Nobody is going to think any less of you. If you wait for the guy to become the finished proven article before boarding the train you're going to miss all the fun of the ride.

I wasn’t intentionally trying to be harsh.

It’s just that all fighters are unbeaten prospects at some point in time.

Occasionally the media pick up on one or two of them and try the hard sell to portray them as dead-cert future champions… or even worse, invincible destructive behemoths.

In terms of Jared Anderson, the statistical likelihood is that he’ll fail. That’s because very few fighters eventually make the grade. It’s the law of probability.

However, I haven’t dismissed Jared Anderson’s chances of enjoying a bright future, but he really hasn’t done anything yet to excite me.

For sure, in a few years’ time, he might eventually be proven to be the "real deal", but until then, I’ll refrain from riding his hype train, because he hasn’t done achieved anything notable yet.

I don't think I'm being that unfair/unreasonable.

And it doesn't really bother me if others are excited about him, as long as they don't go down the fearsome "King Kong" or "Nigerian Nightmare" route (whereby Anderson is automatically bestowed an honorary rite of passage to "greatness" without anyone requiring the need for verification).

No it's not unfair or unreasonable, just a different way of looking at it. We both aren't getting carried away but I'm quite hopeful and dare I say quite enthused. I have a good feeling about this kid.
