Gotta feel a bit sorry for N'dou, keeps taking these short notice fights, wonder how good he would be if he had more time to prepare. I know he's a bit limited, but he could probably achieve more if he wasn't always a late sub.

Has he always been a late sub, I thought he was given time to prepare for Mitchell and Cotto? Perhaps I'm wrong.

He obviously keeps himself in very good shape between fights and for this reason I don't think he would be much better - he has his limitations technically that I think will always be there no matter how much time he has to prepare.

Also, if the other fighter knew it was N'dou weeks in advance, I think they would change a bit in their approach also.

N'dou didn't have long to prepare for Cotto, I don't know why, but I remember him complaining about it, can't remember if that's the case with Mitchell, but I know that N'dou generally is known for being an anytime anywhere fighter.

If they don't get N'Dou, who else is about at such short notice?

i'm sure I remember Ndou was late notice for Mitchell. Wasn't Magee's name being mentioned for that fight once Tszyu pulled out? Ndou is he best they could hope for at this stage but did he have a fight coming up?

Thats a good point, i cant see many other credible opponents wanting to risk a fight with Witter at short notice, its gotta be N'Dou who they have in mind.

Like I said, I'm not sure - although I'm pretty certain we was given a fairly long notice for Mitchell, as it was discussed as a bad fight on these boxing sites for a few weeks before it actually happend.

I read on ITV teletext that "the Bradford fighter is expected to face another opponent possibly former world champion Otkay Urkal"

That sounds unlikely at short notice givern Urkal's recent innactiverty, anyone else heard anything about that?

Im sure that Ndou only had a week to prepare for mitchell, remember him saying he was training in his hotel room because they had no time to prepare a gym for him

Nope Urkal was never a world champion, European yes world no.

Urkal will most likely be the next mandatory, but I really doubt that Sauerland are sending him to the US with a couple of weeks notice, but Sauerland did say that he wants Urkal to retire so who knows.

It's the EBU that says that Witter has to fight the next best ranked fighter which is Urkal... but i've heard too that he's retired.

so did I, but money talks, i know his managment were keen for him to retire after he lost by KO to Harris. I can't see this match happening actually, not much time till the 19th.

Not a great fight to take for his American debut I'd say, very bad in fact.

Urkal is such a cagey fighter, it could end up a terrible clash of styles.
Another boring fight for Witter on the big stage and it's adios as far as the yanks are concerned.

Well, it's a recognisable name, especially as he has the Tszyu connection.

Chances are Junior would have lost to N'Dou anyway. At least Urkal is a very winnable step up if it happens.

Maybe they should see what Emmanuel Clottey is up to, last fought a few months ago, must be looking for work now.

I would certainly take that for Witter as a short notice job. No forgone conclusion either.

I think an Urkal vs Witter fight would be very interesting, Urkal has been active - he did fight Harries only in October or something. He is an excellent fighter (if he hasn't retired, he still should really be in the top ten). However, I don't think its a good move because Urkal is a spoiler and the fight could be dull, dull, dull.

It is probably a harder fight for Junior to win than N'dou.

Good call Augustus would be an excellent choice, beatable , but always comes to fight. whats the bets f*ck all happens , and we get to see Witter and Froch sat ringside.

Are you kidding me? Augustus is a terrible choice, the guy is awkward as fornicate, and often makes his opponents look like complete plonkers. Plus he has no standing on the world stage at all. If I were Witter's management no way in god's earth would I put him in with Augustus.

I would never take Augustus for Witter unless I knew for a fact that he hadn't been in training for a good while. The only reason Emanuel has so many losses is because of the short notice nature of so many of his contests. Look what happened against Trujillo when he'd had a proper training camp - he looked like a world champ in there.

What about the highly-regarded Isaac Hiroyhsitma (sp), holds a win over PHILIP N'DOU and is ranked, and due to fight in the next fortnight I think.

Was inked to fight Lovemore last year, but Lovemore pulled out over promotional differences.

N'Dou has said before he'd be willing to fight Junior.

How about M'baye? Never seen him fight but he hasn't fought since October so should be atleast in training? Not a big puncher from his record so fairly low risk in that regard.... but i think he's the WBA mandatory?
