I always hold up Matthew Hatton's fight with Canelo as classic example of balls and bravery.
Took a shellacking for 12 rounds but never stopped trying. Tough dude

I agree with most on here. Saunders is an embarrassment to our country and shouldn’t be able to get away with spouting shit like that before the fight. He’s not an ambassador to the uk. He should have gone out on his shield like Khan at least Khan doesn’t swear about his opponents and make us all look like yobs

Why is it in boxing 90% of people have no sense of irony? Eubank Jr had the Golovkin fight on a plate but patched it because Barry Hearn wouldn't give Sr a picture hanging on his office wall

i assumed they were asking him you OK or you want to go on ,, but it was a definete NO .
You assumed LOL
I assumed he asked if he could see!
Billy Joe by any stretch of the imagination was doing ok up until the uppercut that done the damage when he pretty much fell apart, but he wasn't obliterated by a salvo of punches.
I didn't watch the fight live but have caught up watching some Mexican TV and it looks like a depression under BJS's eye, which is typical of major damage.

This "quitter" stuff is a nonsense, BJS had his cheek bone caved in. As soon as he stood up from that uppercut you could see a depression in his skull under the eye. Just getting through that round was tremendous heart.

Didn't he say he'd never quit even in that scenario and criticize Dubois for quitting with an eye injury?

He actually said if both cheekbones/eye sockets were broken he would never quit.

I’m not a fan of BJS but to be fair wasn’t it Tibbs who pulled him out? Maybe he would have gone on if he was allowed to.

Tibbs was saying BJS bodylanguage wasn't good and he wasn't seeing what he needed to see in the corner. He really struggles vs Radio Rahim here and cuts the interview short.
Lets be real about this.

Seriously ,, Tonight i was having a disagreement with my youngest so , who is a BIG Billy joe fan ,, I said he quit bla bla ,, he said bullshit his face was a mess he broke his orbital bone ect ect ect ..
So weve had a few drinks and i go to the old photo books , pull out a photo of myself , with a broken orbital bone above the eye , , now the eye was completly swollen , black and shut swelling so bad you could'nt see the eye you seen what looked like the eye but was actually a nick , the eye was not there it was under the swelling and that was for weeks , , I said and he did'nt believe that swelling was INSTANT within 30 seconds ,, so we got the judge in , HIS MOTHER she varified that it was instant within 30 seconds ,, Now i will say it was'nt boxing related , so lets not get misunderstood it was'nt boxing
So then i brought out TWO PHOTO'S one of him when he was 15 and his then girlfreind punched him in the eye , he had a mouse under it and was sat there feeling sorry for himself , it looked like Billys ,,, i then brought out another one of him after a hard sparring session , it DEFINETLY resembled Billys , bit swollen , slight nick and slight bruising , and he sustained that probably a few days before his FIRST ameteur fight ..
He then acknoledged that his actually looked worse and mine in comparison was light and day ,,, But one thing the doctors at the hosp told me was . you sustained your s on top of the eye , and given time it will heal ,,, BUT if it was UNDERNEATH ala Billy Saunders , you would need a plate to stop the eye from dropping , LETS see if Billy has surgery and a plate or it was just a mouse with a knick and a slight cut ...
pERSONALY I THINK IT WAS A MOUSE and a fook you thanks for the millions

Me too, Matty gave it everything he had
Exactly that
A fair result would be now he's been paid what 7 million , the guy he made strip off , the guy he wated crack addicts to assault , and all the rest he's bullied will take a class action suit and sue him for 10 million

Did you not see the bit where the cornerman was using the endswell to try and push the swelling away? BJS didnt look in any discomfort during that ... Tibbs asks him something and BJS says no ... then once its been announced its stopped you see BJS noticeably squinting as if to emphasise the eye.
Right up there with David Hayes baddie big toe ..

The prob for Billy is that he had played the can't quit gypsy hard man card so much when it now has happened he looks stupid.
To be honest it will be tough to live down and will be a part of his legacy.
Tyson Fury can play that card, when he has been hurt and hit the canvas, esp against Wilder he stood up and fought back.
BJS has never been in deep water before and he bailed sharpish.

Yeah, Saunders had to come out for that round. Ever since he took the uppercut from Canelo it looked like he didn't want to know. There was a minute and a half of the round left and he didn't throw one punch during that time.

Truly embarrassing stuff. Pathetic, even. It’s the fight game - it’s not tiddlywinks. He’d been molly cuddled by a computer system, funding and domestic progression as a fencer. When the going gets tough, the weak get going. The bigger the mouth usually the weaker the mind.

He lived up to his word then, as only one eye was smashed in and he quit, if it were both he would surely have carried on
