plant wouldnt be in my top 5 of who'd id be excited for canelo to fight
Can't blame him tho' can you ?

I'm not that excited about it either, but Plant is the legit champ and deserves the right to sell his belt. Seems v.predictable...,
Plant gives him a competitive scrap in a losing effort. Similar to BJS, not quite as shifty, but less fragile.

I think Benavidez has "a chance" - that would be good.
Legit champ? Dont complain about sanctioning bodies if you deem their trinket holders legitimate
He's the legit IBF champ.
There are 4 belts and anyone winning one is decent. :maybe:

he had a decent title win vs uzcategui but has had 3 turd defenses, he's a good enough fighter but does continue this trend of guys playing safety first to hold out for a big fight. i dont blame him but it doesnt really help make him an inteeresting opponent , along with the fact that i think his style is a bit boring and he's simply not good enough for canelo

i get canelo going for undisputed, but as a fan i think there are a number of more interesting fights out there as far as what happens in the ring

I agree that there are “more interesting fights out there,” but unifying in this (or any alphabet) era is a major legacy building accomplishment, and it makes the fights afterward that much more interesting and lucrative.

Plant then Benavidez. Just to see the belts unified and then he could say he cleaned out the division.

It's very rare you see that nowadays.

I reject the premise. Why does "undisputed" matter? If you are assigning value to these trinkets you are part of the problem.

To skanksta who said "must be decent to be an ibf title holder" two words: Charles Martin

from his perspective, he can say he cleared out a division and beat all the other champions, its an accomplishment in that sense and one that a lot of ppl obviously still find notable, but i dont think it adds much value to the matchup itself and what we'll get in the ring so its not one of the fights i really want to see much

the only guy on the poll list i'd rather see fight canelo less is ggg

How big is bivol? He is listed at 6”0 1 inch shorter than Richards is listed but he looked about 4 inches shorter, and 20 lb lighter.... if canelo were to fight him I wonder if it would be 175 or 168, either way I don’t think canelo would be significantly lighter.

Looked lacklustre vs Richards, wouldent be shocked if canelo goes after him at 175 once he is done at 168.

bivol fights to the level of his opponents and doesnt really push beyond whats needed , hardly lost a round to pascal, smith, or barrera....but then looks lacklustre and like he doesnt really care vs the likes of richards and that guy he fought before him. basically, he seems to beat everyone lately in the same way, whether they are world level or british level

hes not big at 175 at all though, defo smaller than smith and bert and kov. talk that bivol will fight ramirez next, and he'd prob be smaller than him too despite zurdo moving up

Most seem to give Plant no chance in a unification due to the level he has been operating at, so how about he defends his belt a few more times before he takes the fight with Canelo. Plant is still 28.

Though people enjoy undisputed, there seems little interest in seeing Plant hand over a title...

Caleb Plant should be facing David Benavidez one week before. Benavidez v Uzcategui should be called off, but perhaps Uzcategui could keep the date against someone else such as: Anthony Dirrell, Shishkin, Caleb Truax; on Showtime.
what type of fight do you think the zachster gives canelo?
Young, fast, strong, undefeated & hungry... but not exceptional. He'll get stopped, but would make it entertaining IMO.

He claims he would follow the BJS blueprint and show no respect...

1) Either that's true and he'll end up getting stopped late while giving a respectful effort
2) He gets overwhelmed by the moment and ends up getting stopped early

Unification with Caleb Plant is fine, but I'd rather pay money to see Plant/Benavidez. There's history & bad blood there and they're both phenomenal fighters.

Saunders was very competitive until the freak eye injury.

Canelo would have won regardless, based on the judges official scorecards and the manner in which he was imposing himself as the fight progressed. but despite that, I thought the Brit was the Mexican's most competitive opponent since the Golovkin rematch (he was doing better than Jacobs did after eight rounds, until the injury).

I only want one world champion per weight division, so Canelo facing Plat is a no-brainer for me.

David Benavidez is a nice humble guy, really talented, but he lacks discipline and he's solely responsible for being a member of the proverbial "who needs you club?", because of the moronically stupid mistakes he's made.

He doesn't deserve to be given opportunities to engage in marquee bouts. He needs to rebuild and earn that right. He's currently lying in a bed of his own making.

Seen a lot of people on social media saying canelo is ducking benevedez, does anyone here belive that? Benevedez is an excellent opponent for in 2-3 years, if he is really any threat to canelo he should be able to get 4-9 good wins in that time and be actually prime vs prime rather than canelo catching him too early.

Sick of people waiting for a canelo shot, I get it, but it sucks, need some people to get out there and earn it.

For goodness sake folks!
GGG has been on the slide since 2018. Let him retire with a face his children aren't afraid of. :-?
The window for him being competitive against Canelo was closing before their first fight even happend, who the heck wants to see a one sided beat down that GGG's iron chin and champions heart will make him endure?

For me its Benevidez, cause Yildrim really wasnt the WBC champ. He is the only guy with the skills that can push Canelo out of his comfort zone. He won't try to out box Canelo or rely on defensive trickery.

To be fair, a fighter can only retain ownership of the super middleweight title, if they're capable of competing at 168lbs, whilst refraining also refraining from consuming recreational drugs.

And Benavidez couldn't even do either of those two simple things.

I'm all in for the Plant fight. Canelo making a fight with Plant to unify shows he can do business with PBC and line up bouts with Charlo and Benavidez down the line.

I do believe Canelo is on a legacy tear and is looking to continue his run of fighting the top fighters of his division and continue to prove he's the best fighter in the world. Canelo is on a different level and has huge chip on his shoulder. I see no reason for Canelo to go back up to 175, there are plenty of fish to fry at 168 and are probably the more lucrative options as well.

Plant has what Canelo wants.

Charlo has nothing and is adding nothing of value in his next fight.

Charlo SHOULD be fighting Andrade.

Retire? Good point. Canelo has all the $$$ that he SHOULD ever need, along with many other successful Biz interests. He, Eddy, and Chepo have their own extensive stable of young fighters.

Retirement after unifying SMW is a legit and smart option.

$1.5m per month from non-boxing related interests (i.e. investments).

He was recently interviewed and expressed his ambition to become a billionaire.

That's a lofty ambition, but it wouldn't surprise me if his net worth exceeded $500m in five years time.
