Would never want Buncey to go away. Endless enthusiasm for the game and the raw material...the boxers and fighters.

Took ages for Woodhall to find his feet, but he’s pretty decent now.

If Richie stopped talking about what the boxer should have done, what they could do, what they should do... and concentrated on the action he'd be a hell of a lot better. Less is more!

Great left hook to the body is more than enough.
'Great left hook, fantastic pivot from the waist, if he'd just turned the knuckle part of the glove to face the target, he'd have found more power in the shot as the ' etc., All whilst 10 more punches are being thrown! It's rather like he's commentating on a replay when the actions live.
Oh I agree, he’s not great by a long chalk, but he used to be awful , like a robot...The white rhino heavyweight... Dave Allen? He’s actually very good

Who I would like and who we will get are two very different things. It is clear that Eddie wants to hire the very best talent and give the whole production a fresh look, appealing to a casual and perhaps younger audience.

He didn't take any swipes at sky but you can imagine that he just feels that they are stuck in the past, the whole sky presentation has been dated and poor for years. The problem with the boxing department is that they haven't innovated in or taken risks in the right way, they either do what they have always done or tried to imitate US broadcasts and simply hasn't worked.

To that end, I guess we won't be seeing Adam Smith or Andy Scott jumping ship to DAZA/Matchroom Media because they just aren't fresh enough for what Eddie is looking for.

I would imagine Kate Abdo will be the host, an American lead commentator (the former wrestling guy who does the us broadcasts) and an ex pro like RJJ (he still holds weight with the younger audience) along with a British ex pro like Barry Jones or a current pro like Sunny Edwards (will card). Chris Floyd will probably do the undercard comms and some interviews with fighters who are watching the fights whilst post fight interviews will probably be reserved for Alex Steadman (deservedly).

I'd like to see them give Ade Oladipo a go in some role - knowledge, likeable and good on camera.

Its all interesting stuff but at the end of the day, the fights need to be good. And that definitely hasn't largely been the case over the last year.

Ian Darke is the best boxing commentator in the UK, hands down.

Then rotate the above lot with him - not Barker for me though, or Lee, who knows his stuff but is too monotone at the minute, maybe he’ll loosen up. Took ages for Woodhall to find his feet, but he’s pretty decent now.
100% agree re Ian Darke.

However, the biggest issue is competitive fights - we could have the best commentator in the world, but if it's an 80/20 fight in favour of the home fighter, it's usually not great viewing. TV can have a big say on that point, if they want to.
I’d take a card of 80/20s! The issue across all promoters is the amount of 95/5s and 99/1s.

Eddie’s last U.K. show was saved by the unexpectedly competitive Yafai/Cunningham fight. Outside of that, every fight was heavily one sided.

FW’s show next week is even worse than that.
That's a fair point on the percentages. My 80/20 was probably overly generous.

Announcer - David Diamante
Play by play - Ian Darke (but I can’t see him leaving football). I always liked Jim Neilly too.
Colour - Matt Macklin, Andy Lee or Barry Jones
Unofficial scorer - David Haye
Interviewer - Chris Lloyd
Show presenter - Chris Lloyd or Kate Abdo
Guest presenters - Macklin or Lee, Barry Jones, David Haye/Lennox Lewis. I also quite like Natasha Jonas.

Gone are the days of having a TV line up of just white males so there will always be non-white and female personnel going forward.

I might be alone here but I actually like Woolhouse as a presenter. She does the job with little fuss, isn't controversial and is easy on the eye. In saying that, Dempsey is a lot better and knows the game more.
On commentary, as we can't bring back the dead, I'd like Darke to be accompanied with Barry Jones.
The roving reporter can be the ever excitable Buncey and the in studio I'd like a mixture of pundits including Woodhall, Haye and, yes I'm being serious here, Nelson and Froch. The reason being, is that a perfect line up might not work, you need a few mavericks to add a bit of nonsense.
As a wildcard, how about Tyan Booth being added to the panel and he can throw in a few digs at Kugan and point out Woolhouse's blowjob signals.

No interest in backstories,

Well matched, meaningful match ups need to make up the majority of the card, with absolutely clarity on what winning the match means for the victor.

You have that as the focus of the show with good commentary and the rest is just window dressing.

It's why Josh Taylor Vs Ramirez will always mean more, be watched by more and be a better model for boxing than Chisora Vs Parker regardless of bubbles, ring entrances etc. etc.

I like a woman to head up the show. Anna is good. But I don't mind. A classy lady just makes it feel more like a proper night.

Barry Jones is the best analyst in sport. Great guy, great analysis.

I don't need a commentator telling me how great the action is, Reg and Harry were brilliant because when they got excited it was for real. Mostly they has a laid back approach. Less talking is better.

Barry Jones has said he isn't in the team. It will be Eddie's mates. Even Boomer despite nobody wanting him.

One guy to call the fight, that's it, like the old days.

Not the incessant waffle and banter that you get between commentators/analysts now.

Barry will be kept on by Sky I think. I think Barry is one of the best analysts and commentators but if they’re looking for people to broadcast across the world then they’ll probably want more neutral accents I would have thought. Although they’ve used Alex Arthur previously so who knows.

Barry is the most respected. But he took the Sky line saying Acres was really impressive in his debut when it was terrible.

I didn’t think Dacres was really impressive but I also thought he did a better than most people on here. It was enough to make me think he beats Adelaye now which may not be anything too impressive but I’d rather see him active (albeit in a one sided fight) than just banging someone out in 90 seconds.

...less talk, more fights. I don't want a presentation with a 20 minute intro, and a 10-20 minute break between fights whilst they interview every fornicator they can get their mic in front of. Save that bollocks for YouTube, or some post fight show on DAZN, not in the middle of the fornicating show. Tune in for boxing and spend an hour watching interviews, when they could just as easily have given us another fight.

No adverts between rounds or immediately after fights, especially on PPV. Sky are absolute pisstakers with that, pathetic.

Ian Darke was one of the great boxing commentators on radio.

For those who fancy a trip down memory lane here's highlights of Barry McGuigan challenging Eusebio Predroza from 1985.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p074mk3m

Darke is brilliant in commentary IMO and has Henry Cooper chipping in during the break.

I Love Cooper's remark about Pedroza's corner putting something under Eusebio's nose to revive him "Not sure that's legal, but there we go"

Thanks for that mate. It’s weird. It’s a fight i saw at the tine and have seen since but i enjoyed listening to five minutes just now. Darke really has a good delivery. May pop back and listen to it all some time :TU:

Used to love Enry's commentry on radio...always spoke about fast hands, that was his thing...loved a fighter with fast hands! But some of his scoring in later years...was he just a bit bitter about British heavyweights.

He scored the Bruno vs McCall fight for McCall by a round ! and the Lewis vs Tucker fight a draw!!!

cooper was massively bitter and delusional and self inflated, ive never been able to take to him. a glorified euro level fighter , not that there's anything wrong with that
