Have to go with Taylor here. Hatton struggled at the top level whereas Taylor has come out on top every time. Too sharp for Hatton

Some could argue when Ricky in his prime won the title , it was against a good champion , who was coming off a long lay off and an injury , , and when he stepped up he lost ,,, But then again you could argue he beat a real good champ to win the belt and look who he lost too ,, two of the best boxers in recent times ,, agree he would off been all over Taylor , and Bens tactics to win the fight , by get in his head would'nt of worried Hatton ,,, In fact i think Hatton would of turned them tactics around ,

What a fight that would be. I’d favour Hatton to bring to much pressure for Taylor to handle but wouldn’t of been surprised if Taylor had to much skill for Hatton. Eamonn Magee had Hatton in trouble early and Taylor is a level above him. I think I could change my mind 5 times a day on this

Taylor does have that upright ‘British’ style that Hatton was always successful against. I’d still pick the early version of Hatton to be a bit too much for Taylor.

I've mixed feelings about those using Hatton v Magee as a pointer for Taylor beating Hatton.
Taylor undoubtedly counters with much better precision & power than Magee, so yes, I get that, but Hatton did navigate those tricky moments and dominate Magee over the 12 rounds.
Magee had no choice but to stay in his shell or get battered. Obviously Josh is far more daring than Eamon, but does that win the day or ultimately play into Ricky's hands.

only at a certain level. he looked AWFUL and dull by the time he went to america. Only the Castillo fight entertained and that was cos he was shot to pieces. Ricky always sold himself as "mr excitement" whilst hugging his opponents for half the fight.

Josh repeatedly catches him coming in, as hatton tries to "smother". He also surprises ricky with his inside game. Josh cuts him and stops him late.

Hatton operated during some of the best ever times at 140lb
It was rammed with talent. Way tougher than it is nowadays.
Hatton didn’t like southpaws, Collazo was a step-up in weight with little notice. Got rocked to his boots.
Can Taylor rock Hatton ? Yes he could but not 100% convinced he’d beat Ricky prime for prime.
I think his swarming style would tire Taylor out.
It was rammed with talent. Way tougher than it is nowadays.

I think a prime Hatton too much for Taylor. The leftie angle gives Taylor a chance to outbox him, sure, but Taylor does seem to coast late on and I think Hatton finally pins him down on the ropes and stops him with flurries to the head and body.

who were these killers ricky fought outside of KT that taylor would have struggled with? The ancient vince phillips? The limited Ben Tackie? Ray Oliveria? Chronic alky Eamon Magee? The shot to pieces Castillo? The plodding Urango? The retired Lazcano? Powder Puff Paulie? Maussa ffs.... Josh would breeze through every single one of those. Best ever times, you must be joking. Even Gatti was a glorified clubfighter just cos he was in exciting wars. Witter was a talent, but we know hatton wanted no part of him truth be told. Judah could was a beast when he was switched on. Cotto was only there 5 minutes. I can't see anything ricky achieved that Josh couldn't also. 140 is not a patch on the old days.
I like Taylor but he’s had the benefit of a mediocre division.
