I’m not sure. He was fine about everything with Wilder rematch. I think most of us would agree with the bulk of what he said. Tyson’s been messed around Bob, screwed out of $50m and doesn’t seem focused which he was when he last fought.

Was a great listen with Big John speaking from the heart. The change of opponent isn’t ideal but unlike say AJ v Ruiz Jr (after the Big Baby Miller debacle) Tyson knows what to expect. Wilder can only fight one way. Fury absolutely dominated him last time out. Complacency is the only thing that can get him beat. Hopefully he’s knuckling down in training and Andy Lee and SugarHill have the cojones to confront him if he’s not.

In America it’s a different setup. They’ve been crying out for a great white hope or even anyone who is a top fighter with a big personality at heavyweight. And that’s fury.

Basically this, but I think that fan base who wanted that white hope have moved on over to MMA anyway.

I read somewhere that PPV buys for boxing in the states are dominated by Hispanics and African Americans who make up most of the consumers and MMA PPV's are dominated by white consumer base... if it is true or not, that is what I have read...

white fightrers have been among the tops hws for years now. and the klits fought lots in the states. its not much of a novelty any more to have a white good hw

there have been many other top white fighters in other divisions whove campaigned in the usa. further, there are tons of high level white mma fighters, from the usa and around the world

The Klit brothers had zero personality and we’re boring fighters. Tyson has a bigger personality than any MMA fighter I know of. I doubt it would be that hard to market him and get interest. MMA or boxing , they’re both fighting and fans flit between.

You saw how shit top rank were with Taylor so I assume Tyson gets the same treatment.

Fury has some appeal, but he isn't all American boy.

Yeah - he’s sold well in the US in his 2 fights with Wilder but the other 2 fights didn’t sell well at the box office (not sure on viewer numbers). Didn’t help that he was 2 other European fighters that even big fans may not have heard of before. Perhaps if he’d fought an Arreola or someone semi known over there the fights would have sold better.

I assume you’re talking about the Haye fight? Haye had sold out big arenas several times before. It was a really good fight at the time but Haye would have been the A-side.

I don’t really think Tyson has ever sold really well on his own in the past. He did really well with a good dance partner (Klitschko - exc. the cancelled rematch, Haye, Wilder) but never when he’s been the A-side.

I think that’d be different now though - I’m not sure he’d do AJ levels but he’d sell 30-40,000 in a reasonable defence of his world title I reckon.

There were a lot of travellers there but it wasn’t mainly travellers. It was a fight that somehow crossed over a little bit - I had about 5/6 people asking at work about it. Each of them watched Eubank Snr back in the day and were talking about whether Jr would win or not.

It was also the last FW I went to. Made me swear to myself to not to go another one of his shows due to the toilet situation and stupidly late finish.

What was the toilet situation ? Big lines of coke sniffers ?

Ha, I remember when I went to AJ-Parker in the Millennium Stadium and there was only a handful of toilets in my block which happened to all be cubicles, so I had to queue up for about 20 mins every time I needed a piss. About 5 hours into the show, I suddenly realised I’d been queuing in the disabled block and the urinals were around the corner, so I’d been queuing for no good reason

I’m sure there were a few but there just simply weren’t enough toilets for the amount of people there. I went to 4 sessions of boxing at the Olympics there and you still had to queue for 10 minutes for the loos and that’s without a few thousand pissed up gypsies and 10,000 other drunkards.

There were loads of people just pissing up walls, in their seats and all over the place. That, coupled with the fact the main event didn’t start until around midnight, really put me off going to another FW show.

I went to that one too and didn’t find it much of an issue. I did go to the urinals from the start though

A mate of mine who’d never been to boxing before went.

He said he’d never go again, the people pissing up walls was a particularly memorable element, in the wrong way.

Regards pissing at the venues , went to a match fa cup final , at wembley in the early 80's ,, people were going to the top and back lining up for a piss , full time went down the stairs and you stepped off the bottom step into a river of piss ,,, never ever set foot at a football match again ,,
