You’ve got two guys in their fifties (Tyson & Jones Jr.) willing to risk tarnishing their legacies to engage in a novelty circus event, probably because they’re desperate for the money, not getting paid what they’re owed.
So if both veterans still need the money, then they’ll have to continue competing in a sport in order to pay the bills.
It’s sad they have to do this.
All of us have bills to pay and I suspect most of us at some point in our lives have had to resort to performing jobs we dislike (or are incompatible with) in order to make a living. The same applies to Roy Jones Jr.
Meanwhile, it’s interesting to see people criticise the fighters rather than lambasting Triller for their misconduct!
This is the reason why I
nearly always support boxers for employing the “risk versus reward” ratio, because fight fans couldn’t care less what happens to fighters after they’ve hung up their gloves.
I concur with your final sentence. The rest is conjecture and opinion based on limited information.

neither tyson nor roy have to get back in the ring to earn a living. both seem to do quite well.
there's also zero risk of tarnishing their legacies in pitty pat exhibitions against each other.
their legacies stand cemented and for ever will.
they couldn't 'tarnish' them decades ago when they both tried hard to do so at the end of their professional careers when they were shot to pieces loosing to guys who wouldn' have been able to hang with them for a round in their primes.

Triller’s conduct is based on Tyson and Jones Jr’s claims.
Both fighters previously filed for bankruptcy - that isn’t hearsay.

According to reports, Mike is worth around $3 million; RJJ is worth around $7 million. Not getting paid fully for a single event and needing money are two different things entirely.

reading the article, it sounds like roy got paid something, but that he'd gotten the impression from kavanagh's phone call that he'd also get a bonus since the fight did so well and kav was sounding generous
but he didnt end up getting the bonus, and now feels he wasnt fully compensated, even if perhaps he got the full orginial contract amount
my hunch at least. if they didnt even pay him the contracted amount then he should sue

Roy Jones Jr. filed for bankruptcy shortly before his humiliating and shocking loss in 2015 against Enzo Macarinelli.
If he now has several millions in the bank, it’ll be primarily due to his exhibition against Mike Tyson.
The $7m valuation figure seems excessively high to me, because he would have been taxed on his income against Tyson and he would have only been earning peanuts for all his other bouts and punditry (since he filed for bankruptcy).
So where’s all his money come from if he really is worth $7m and why does he insist he has to fight to earn a living?
Something doesn’t quite add up here!

2015 is 6 years ago. Where does it say he 'insists he has to fight to earn a living." Also, bankruptcy doesn't take all your assets away. There are limits.

The phrase “do something extra” implies Trillers interest to do another veteran exhibition, due to the commercial success of the Tyson-Jones Jr. paid sparring session.
It seems that Triller has decided to refrain from staging another exhibition (involving veteran fighters).
And Jones Jr. and Tyson are seemingly p&ssed off about not being fully compensated.

That is not how I read it and that interpretation doesn't jibe with RJJ's reaction to not being paid "fully."

Are you saying a multi-millionaire who goes bankrupt is allowed to retain several million dollars worth of assets, regardless of the debt they owe?

Well you seem to think that multi-millionaires can go bankrupt and be allowed to keep millions of dollars worth of assets (regardless of the debt they owe and can’t pay back), so please don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m sceptical about your reading comprehension.

Roy used to be (technically) broke, but (I agree) in the context of the average Joe that walks down the street, he would have been earning a decent living... until he earned the lottery winning Mike Tyson circus exhibition jackpot!
The vast majority of his current wealth will be solely due to the Tyson exhibition.

LMFAO! Tell me, how does bankruptcy work? Let's start with Chapter 11 bankruptcy which is what RJJ probably filed. So tell us what you think. We all need a laugh. Or are you refusing to dispute the irrefutable. LMFAO!

I understand the process of bankruptcy isn’t intended to make people completely destitute, but it’s not going to allow multi-millionaires to continue being multi-millionaires (with negligible impact on their lifestyle).
Like I keep having to tell you, the vast majority of Roy’s current wealth is due to the millions he was paid for the Tyson exhibition.

So you don't understand the process or why it's on the books as law in the US. Fair enough. You don't know.
Jones made over $50 million in the ring plus endorsements; acting and other endeavors. The fact that he still has several million isn't a shock. Bankruptcy is a 'protection' against debtors. A process to assist the individual to overcome their financial difficulties and turn their fiscal lives around. The bankruptcy court deems certain assets as in play or not for debtors to receive. Sometimes debtors get nothing at all. In the US, retirement funds are 'hands off' to debtors, so just that alone protects large swaths of wealth for an individual. So yeah, millionaires can retain millions.

In addition to auctioning off his assets, Roy Jones Jr. even had to evict his own father from one of his homes to partially repay his debts.
It was worth less than $100K.
So why would a (post bankrupt) individual (still considered a multi-millionaire - in your eyes) have to stoop so low to scrape the pennies together?
Simple, he wasn’t wealthy at all!
Jones Sr.’s family, confirmed they even had to resort to creating a GoFundMe page to try to retain family ownership of the property.
Do you honestly think bankruptcy is a magic wand? A get out of jail card employed by wealthy multi-millionaires to allow them to keep spending without fear of consequence (i.e. no need to pay the bills)?
You don’t do any research? Wikipedia isn’t the answer to everything!
You’re not aware of the financial plight that Roy Jones Jr. went through, BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T EVEN CHECK!

Maybe Wiki is your source, but it's not mine. EO, the complexities of what can or can't be used to settle debt is too much to much to detail here. To put it simply, assets in the individuals name other than retirement monies and certain 'exceptions' are the limit. Had he put the house in his father's name than they wouldn't have needed to sell it. That sort of thing is ordered by the court. Sorry you don't understand and like to put words in other posters mouths, but bottom line is that RJJ retaining several million isn't unusual.

Its not uncommon for someone like roy to have corporation assets and not have individual collateral up on corporate loans
So when he is short of cash he can still have illiquid personal assets like his home property go relatively untouched by corporate bankruptcy.
Like i said rich guy broke - he has stuff but is short cash
