WBA Orders Trevor Bryan To Next Fight Daniel Dubois By July 28
Dubois’s promoter, allegedly, made an application to the WBA for Bryan (22-0, 15KOs) to be ordered to defend his title against the former British champion straight after his defense against Jonathan Guidry (17-1-2, 10KOs) at the weekend.
Carlos Chavez, the WBA’s Championships Committee Chairman, issued a ruling that immediate negotiations for a Bryan-Dubois fight, with it taking place within 180 days of the Bryan-Guidry contest. That means it must take place by July 28.
An objection to the application was made by representatives of Mahmoud Charr (32-4, 18KOs), who previously held the WBA “World” belt. Charr, who had been “Champion in Recess,” was stripped of the title in January after being unable to get a visa to travel to the United States to face Bryan.
The Don King-promoted Bryan, 32, ended up stopping Bermane Stiverne (25-5-1, 21KOs) in 11 rounds for the vacant title in January 2021, before he beat Guidry via a split decision on the first anniversary of that bout at the weekend.
Dubois (15-1, 14KOs), 24, suffered his only career loss to Joe Joyce (13-0, 12KOs) in November 2020, winning two fights since. He knocked out Bogdan Dinu in two rounds for the WBA “interim” title (no longer in existence) and then stopped Joe Cusumano in one round last August.
The WBA’s No 3 and No 4 heavyweight contenders, Robert Helenius (31-3, 20KOs) and Hughie Fury (26-3, 15KOs), have also been matched in an eliminator with the same July 28 deadline.

Dubois definitely deserves a shot after his big wins over Bogdan Dinu and Joe Cusumano. That being said, not sure he is of the same calibre as Guidry and BJ Flores.
Hughie Vs Helenius is somewhat intriguing though. Will no doubt be a horrible fight but difficult to predict how it will go.

Don King will either ask for a truck load of money or will find a way for Bryan to manoeuvre away from Dubois whilst keeping the belt.
Hughie/Helenius is a good fight though.

Bryan is the real deal - he's WBA interim regular champ for a reason.
It's not like they give those belts out for nothing.

Charr is the lineal champ lads. Or is it Fres?
Joyce won't care about missing out on this. Heavyweight is one division where the WBA's secondary trinket has been largely ignored by anyone relevant for years.

Charr is Lineal champ, Fres is Lineal contender. With how things are going, they'll face off in an exhibition in 15 years time and we can see who the true Regular GOAT is.

So, will Bryan be fed up to Dub?
What about danger men Fres, Charr and Lovejoy?

Fres

I don't think his name gets mentioned enough.

One day the real story will get out. It will shake boxing, Fres: the real heavyweight champion
Boxing: game changed

Cant believe they gave Don king 6 months to fornicate about with. If the fight happens trevs taking a nap and thats basically retirement for Mr king, so he will want a big ol cut of the action. IF and big If this fight happens, lovejoy vs David Adeleye would be a fun undercard fight.

Same, I did kinda think "who cares" at first. But now I want someone to take Bryant out of the mix he shouldn't be in anyway. And Dubois is perfect, because if Bryant can get past him, then maybe he does belong in the mix after all.

Not a "who cares" bout, cause it'll be fun, when Dub spectacularly KOs this joke champion.

In addition to Bryant being bogus, I am struggling with the fact that Dubois has been manoeuvred through the back door to a ‘title shot’ without addressing the loss to Joyce - or even showing he has considerably improved.

It pretty much sums up boxing at the moment. I can see Dubois beating Bryan and then what? A whole host of defences against unworthy challengers? What's the point?

Why doesn't DD avenge the loss against Joyce?
It was sorta through injury. And what is Joyce up to anyway?
Gathering dust waiting for a title shot that may not, probably won't, happen this year.

Lol Injury. I mean being banged in the face repeatedly will cause injuries lol.
I don't think DDD management want ro fo near Joyce at this stage. And Joyce at his age prob not looking at that level. They should be looking at bigger fights.

Broken hands heal, shoulders go back in, jaws can be wired, but eyeballs are a different story.
It's one of the boxing injuries I give a straight pass to.
Any

Dubois inside a couple of rounds.
I would say though, once your hands go under the knife they are never the same again, also your jaw is never right either.

I think Joyce has a broken wrist, at his age it might take quite a while to fully heal
