Thanks G, that was interesting. :TU: Seems a solid bloke. Don't like the sound of him going forward and trading though.
I thought the guy to beat Babic is the one to box him on the back foot, from that interview Bennett doesn't want a bar of that.

I like Bennett as a bloke rather than a boxer because he's a genuine kid. My son was out of work a year ago and I spoke to Bennett to see if he could help him out a bit as they are in the same job set and Mark gave my lad some hours at short notice. Also he's been in the Royal Artillery same as my lad so I respect him for that too.

I speak to Bennett often just to keep upto date with training and how things are going. After Ultimate Boxer Mark was finding it near impossible to get fights as he has said at decent notice. There has been several up and comers that only wanted to give him a week to prepare, I told the lad to take me and just get the paycheck like a lot of boxers these days who are only in it for the money but Bennett to his credit as refused.

Mark Bennett has his own business too so it's very difficult to do the 2 full time as he has said. He's not full of bullshit and speaks his heart, and has said he's not the best boxer out there so his feet are firmly on the ground and knows a win against Babic could lead to a bigger fight for him.

Respect to the guy and I hope he wins, it will be a tough slog on the night.

Hopefully Bennett comes in in decent nick. Babic is relentless if not much else and even the bigger lumps he's faced have ended up getting overwhelmed by untidy Chris Eubank Jr.......sorry I meant to say untidy workrate.

bennit is 15 pounds heavier than his last and looks out of shape

i know it's the whole 'big man the little guy' type of thing, but the big man also needs the energy to keep that up for long enough. babby the cabby is soft even in the low 200s, so mark would be the much bigger man regardless

Bennett dosent look in great conditions, but 15 lbs isnt heaps when your that big. That said, he isnt good, and is a part timer, and has been inactive,, combo that with not being in amazing shape and lacking power it is going to be a tough night for him...

I say this a bit when there are massive size differences, and i really dont want people to do it, but i think its there best stratergy.... bennett needs to hold and lean and use his weight early, take the sting out of babics offence. Even if you do it so much the crowd boos and the ref takes a point, should just be making it horrible for babic early.

Yea true, he is definatly over his ideal weight to be good, but he isnt good, so i dont hate it, just more weight to pile onto babic. He could come in 240lb, he isnt going to outbox and hold of babic without making him tired from leaning, mabey thats why he is coming in so heavy although i suspect its part time training and a few pints.

Honestly i cant see why babic is fighting him other than for the comical size missmatch and to say babic has beat a big heavyweight. he is way below english title levle. Babic should be fighting at english-brittish title levle i think.

As you say Bennett is a part timer and I agree 2 years out of the ring isn't great preparation for a big fight. I think Mark has a tough fight here but I don't think he's going to be holding. Having spoken to him he's going to have a scrap with Babic but saying that if he gets clipped by Babic early on he may have to change tactics knowing a slugfest isn't the best option to win. Bennett wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn't talk out of his arse and hasn't got the personality of these boxers who wear daft masks and think they are out of an episode on Game Of Thrones.

I've spoken to Bennett only yesterday and again he says he going in for a fight.

Being a part timer in any sport is very difficult when you start to up the levels of competition as you don't have the luxury of the benefits that go with full timers who have big promotors by your side. Bennett has a wife and kids so has to go home each day to carry on family life plus running his own construction business doesn't help being a part time professional sports man.

I'm fully on Marks side tonight but I'm not delusional thinking he if favourite in this fight. You do get upsets in boxing and Babic isn't tested yet so you have to give Bennett a 15/2 chance as in the betting. If Bennett can weather the early storm which is inevitable tonight and get through the early onslaught that Babic is going to bring and have something left in the tank and try to bully Babic you never know, Bennett may get lucky. My concern if it does go past 3 or 4 rounds has Mark got anything left being out of the ring for 2 years and never fought beyond 3 rounds before.

It's going to be tough for him and if he wins it will be fantastic but if he gives a decent account and gets beat at least he gave his best and it may lead to a few decent domestic Fights. Bennett doesn't want to go down the journeyman route, he's been offered Babic before with 7 days notice and refused. He's found it hard to get fights at his level no one domestically wants to box him with 8 weeks notice. He's had several offers over the last couple of years but all have been a weeks notice, plus Covid hasn't helped.

Anyway come 8pm tonight I hope Bad News can delivery some bad news to Babic.

Respect wanting a scrap. but if he goes in for a tear up early he is taking a lot of damage early. For me, its an 8 round fight, why not grab and lean on babic for 2 or 3 rounds (not the entire round obviously but when you get your chances.). Take the sting out of him, get his legs heavy and then you still have 5 rounds to try for a tear up against a vastly less dangerous oponent. Not saying its what he will do, or what i want him to do but i think its what he should do if he wants a win.

Would be different if he is a puncher, but for a big man he seems very very pillow fisted. Only stopping darch (who even after a pasting probably would of got up and been fine to continue although towl went in and ref would of stopped it anyway, fair at such a low levle.)
