Derek Chisora parts ways with manager David Haye

Former rivals David Haye and Derek Chisora linked up in 2018; Chisora has slipped to back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker, both of which he disputes, and is now on the lookout for his latest reinvention

Derek Chisora and his manager David Haye have announced that they will amicably part ways.

The former enemies and opponents have been a partnership over the past three years, with Haye acting as Chisora's manager and assisting him in the gym.

Chisora won three fights under Haye's stewardship, including a big stoppage of David Price.

But he was knocked out by Dillian Whyte and, in the past year, has slipped to points defeats to Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker, both of which he disputed.

Haye said: "It's been an action-packed couple of years, getting Derek back in the mix of the heavyweight division, taking him from 'Del Boy' to 'WAR' mode.

"When we announced our unlikely partnership we pledged to give fight fans the big nights of heavyweight clashes they have called out for and that I believe we have achieved.

"Whilst I will no longer be managing Derek, I will naturally continue to follow and support his career with great interest.

"The UK remains at the epicentre of the heavyweight division and Derek stands ready to go toe to toe with them all. 2021 is looking very exciting for him with a number of options available."

Chisora said: "Everyone close to me thought I was crazy when I told them I wanted David to manage me, but in the last two and a half years my performances in the ring have spoken for themselves.

"Giving fight fans the battles they wanted to see even when COVID put a handbrake on everything. I may have been robbed against both Usyk and Parker but have developed as a fighter. 2021 is looking very interesting, I am back in camp, ready to go this autumn. It's time for WAR.

"I would like to thank David for his support (at times patience...) and guidance during our time working together."

Haye and Chisora notoriously brawled at a Munich press conference before colliding inside the ring in 2012 in a heated grudge match which Haye won.

Chisora, now 37, is on the lookout for his latest reinvention in the heavyweight division.

Announcing the fight, Matchroom said: “On Saturday, December 18, Joseph Parker (29-2, 21 KOs) faces off against the mercurial Brit Derek Chisora (32-11, 23 KOs) in a rematch of their 12-round war in May 2021.

“Parker, the former WBO Heavyweight Champion, has tallied five straight wins since losing against Dillian Whyte for the WBO International Heavyweight Title.

“Derek ‘WAR’ Chisora is looking to bounce back after losing by split decision against Parker and by unanimous decision against Oleksandr Usyk in October 2020.

“The event will be live worldwide on DAZN (except New Zealand and Samoa).”

That’s the big difference from the first meeting. There is now no longer the Sky Sports Box Office option for the event.

DAZN and Matchroom have announced three premium fights nights to add to an ever-increasing fall fight schedule. All will be live and worldwide on DAZN.

Confirming the three events, DAZN promised a lot more fight nights after fans and media questioned a lack of announcements over the summer.

Canelo Alvarez moving on for his next fight was one of the major reasons for the delay.

Those three new events are:

• October 16: Former four-weight world ruler Mikey Garcia returns against European Super-Lightweight Champion Sandor Martin. Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA.
• October 30: WBC Interim Heavyweight World Champion Dillian Whyte faces Swedish fighter, Otto Wallin. Live from The O2 in London and worldwide on DAZN.
• December 18: Heavyweights Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora rematch in another epic clash at the AO Arena in Manchester. Live worldwide on DAZN (except New Zealand and Samoa).

“‘The Body Snatcher’ Dillian Whyte returns home to The O2 on October 30. He puts his Interim WBC heavyweight world title against Otto Wallin.

“Wallin is the man that came so close to inflicting a loss on Tyson Fury.

“Then, on December 18, Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora go to war again at Manchester Arena. Catch it all live and exclusively around the world on DAZN.”

Yea but AJ vs Ruiz has no Kiwi in the mix. This is NZs boy. Small nations pick someone and act like any of there fights are the thriller in manila.... Parker is NZs PPV top Dawwggg. 2-3 times a year your gunna get gouged on parker, my advice is accept that and just hope they dont start pretending any other Kiwis are PPv worthy.

They’re just milking fans in NZ and Aus when it comes to the home grown fighters.

Parker is the only guy they charge $50 for, Canelo, AJ are $40 and Parker Vs AJ was $40 the only Parker fight I found worth a PPV.

If either win by devestating ko they will never get a world title shot,Parker if terrible to watch lately and Chisora is becoming a punch bag,its nothing more that a filler for a bigger fight and this rematch together with all the other crap has massively decreased my interst in what was once a brilliant sport,not the current piss take it's turned into

The first fight was close … we saw it as a close but clear win to Joseph, and we’ve decided it’s worthy of a rematch.”
