It probably says something about boxing in this country that we're paying so much attention to a teenage amateur being put on his backside, although I guess it also shows the pressures Khan has to operate under after his amazing summer, pressures the likes of us have contributed to.

I agree with JamesMcdonnell that it proves that performances as a 17 yr old, no matter how brilliant, are no barometer of success in the pro game. However, I wouldn't say it's any reason to lose faith in Khan just yet. The big worry for me is not the actual ability, but that he's getting carried away with himself already. I know he seems very much grounded outside the ring, and doesn't have the loudmouthed arrogance of certain young fighters, but I worry that he already has the mindset of being able to go in and blow guys away, regardless of what he does. Hopefully he's learnt a lesson here, and Mick Jelley will give him the 'Clip round the ear' that Amir said he'd get if he deserved it.

From a business point of view, turning pro after Athens probably looks better after last night. However, I'm still favouring the view that Khan has real talent, and is better off learning some lessons now. Hopefully it'll wake him up to the fact that, no matter who you're facing, you can still get clocked. He might not have learned that lesson until he was 21 if he'd signed on the line, and surely it's easier (in terms of ego, if nothing else) to take the lesson on board after a small hall amateur show, rather than a big promotion as the star attraction?[/i]

Getting decked in the amatuers means almost nothing when looking at future professional sucsess. Ali amongst many others got dropped as amateurs.

As long as Khan learns by his mistakes, that's the most important thing.

On a positive note, he got off the deck to win.

Who are the 2 guys in the first pic?
Cobblers, that was no slip, his knees went completely.

Nothing to worry about i'd say. If anything I'm impressed with Amir.

Yes, he got caught by a quick, sharp counter and his legs really went, but look how quick he gets up and no doubt eager to get back into the fray.

Credit Watson for being in the right place at the right time. That was no lucky punch.

No one should ever have expected Khan to breeze through the ABA's and his opponents just fall to their knees. I would have like nothing better than the chance to beat an Olympic Silver medalist and I strongly imagine that's what was going through Watson's head before the bout began.

Amir's a fabulous boxer, but don't forget there are plenty of good amateurs in Britain.

His legs jsut buckled completely...according to various reports Khan just went out trying to stop his man and got caught. Looking at that though he was hit well and totally lost his co-ordination.

Roy Jones got knocked out as an amatuer, as was Ricky Hatton. This is knocked out not just knocked down.

Amir Khan.

No flash knockdown there, what would concern me is it looked more like a heavy slap , with the headgaurd on at his first try in the higher weight.

Fack the olympics he may not make it.

Half a mill siigning on money and buy a couple of houses , thats what he should do

That was a bad KD, Amir must have shown tremendous fitness to recover from that - would have liked to have seen what happend after that.

Fighters will go in alot more confidence now, question marks will be place on Amir now - dare I say even from that one performance his stock has fallen from the Olympics and would need to do well in a major championship to get it back.

A promter might not invest alot on a potentially "chinny" fighter. I'm not saying he is -but for the millions being discussed is it worth the risk.

But won`t this give his future opponents a little gee??

Is Craig Watson regarded as something of a big hitter?

As for Khan's performance in Superstars I think he was the most co-ordinated runner out of all of the non athletics performers I have seen.

He did though embarress himself a little on the squats, started like a train but tanked out - Him saying he would break Jacks' record made it worse.

He did however win both of the fights with quite considerable margine was it 24-9. He got up and won the fight quite well and came back which shows his ability to stay calm under that situation.

Well, if I was fighting Amir Khan, I'd go for it. Wouldn't you? It'd raise your profile.
