What a fight.
I had it 116-112 for Castano! Could see a draw.
Derrick James told Jermell before 12th he needs a KO!

had castano winning it 115-113, imo the only way charlo could win is if you give him the 10th 10-8, then also give him every swing round, then you could get to 114-113
for the first 9 castano was bossing, landing more and better punches, having charlo tentative and pulling his punches. but then charlo hurt him in the 10th and closed strong to make it close.

The judges had it 117-111 to Castano and 114-113 for Jerm then a draw card, then fair enuf.. it’s becoming too predictable now..

This why I've all but lost interest in boxing. It's more predetermined than WWE.
Only a retard would have Charlo winning that.

graham houston had charlo winning
if you give charlo all the swing rounds and a 10-8 round 10 (it was a type of round where i think that is defensible although i had it 10-9), then i can see him winning 114-113. but i cant see anything less than 6 rounds for castano so imo that is the absolute best case for mell
i had castano winning, though am not fussed about the draw, it was close enough for me to understand that outcome. obviously 117-111 was dreaful

Re: Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castano | FITE.tv - 17 July 2021
A great fight, which had lacked the hype, but lived up to its status.
However, the decision was bad. Another pro-side-A judging. At least it was a dominant enough performance by Castano not to allow the judges to give him a loss.
Castano took the vast majority of rounds with an effective aggression. Charlo was air-jabbing almost all night long, glove-jabbing at best.
Charlo won the 2nd, the 10th and the 11th. It's possible to argue on the 12th, it was pretty close. The other rounds were clearly taken by Castano.

Terrific performance from Castano, should have got the nod. Really like his composure in there, doesn't rush his work and cuts off the ring pretty nicely, good combination puncher. He did well to weather the storm on a couple of occasions too after being tagged hard by Charlo, nice fight.

Great fight, what a chin on each of these two champions.
I just watched the Showtime 9am replay, Al Bernstein still class all the way.
I watched one of the best unification fights of recent times yesterday which Al called 20 years ago… little hands of stone Michael Carbajal v Humberto Gonzalez 1 - what a fight !! Last nights was a worthy contender.
I edged it for Charlo, round 10 should have been a 10-8.
If you’re going to give someone a 10-9 for edging a round, It makes no sense to give them the same when they have their opponent hurt & rocking for over a minute, which Charlo managed to do. That was a big round.
In other words, give credit where’s it due.

I didn’t write the scores down but I was generally agreeing with Steve Farhood on the showtime scores, apart from him giving 10/9 in the 10th, he had it a draw I think.

The only judge that scored 10-8 for rd10 was the one that had Castano winning.

I haven’t seen the fight yet, but a ‘draw’ with the home fighter getting a much derided wide decision on one card is about as typical as boxing possibly gets.

Anyone had a decent quality full fight reply of this?

Stream had Russian commentary. I thought Charlo won, although admittedly I haven't scored a fight in ages.
Castano was rocked at one stage. Castano was aggressive but Charlo was scoring well and controlling distance. Nice jab, straights.
I don't think it was a robbery by any means. Just my opinion.

Castano also had Charlo in trouble on the ropes in one of the early rounds too.
Excellent fight
Castono seems to have come from nowhere, but his last half a dozen fights have prepared him for a world championship.
A few of our British world title challengers could have benefited with a similar lead up to their failed attempts, even if theirs weren't quite as demanding as Costano's opposition.
