is the uzbek government paying him big bucks for winning these amateur events? having already won all the major tournaments, i would've thought he'd want to focus full time on pro now, but i guess not.
Only for olympic champions government pays 200k dollars. But it's not the main reason why he is competing in all this amateur events. His father passed away before olympics in Rio. Once he said that, he promised his father that he would become world champion several times and win Olympic games. That's why he cried after finals in Ekaterinburg and Tokio where he became world and olympic champion.

He's not fought professionally since November and has said he'll (probably) focus on pro after Paris 2024 Olympics (when he turns 30), when he's hopefully a double gold medalist.
Apparently he's already a superstar in his home country of Uzbekistan and doesn't seem to be rushing things outside the amateurs. Was looking forward to seeing him fight some big names soon.

Read somewhere he is fighting in Uzbequistan against a journeyman, later this year.
Already qualified for the Olympics, next August, so can have a few safe pro fights while waiting.
I imagine its hard to find opponents for Jalolov, ranked fighters will demand big purses to sell their scalps.
Larduet, Breazeale, Charles Martin, Shaw, Kuzmin, Sirenko, Rice, J. Millton, Pulev, Kossobutzkyi, are possibilities

jalolov won the asian games in october, he just cant quit his love for amateur boxing. surely his real focus atm is the olympics next year and not the pros. will he ever be fully focused on pro boxing??
btw lol at his nickname 'the big uzbek'. is that not already self evident

According to Brunch Boxing, Jalolov is fighting David Spilmont on Feb 6th.
Spilmont lost to Alen Babic in 2021.

The guy is being moved way to slowly. 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist and a 14-0 pro needs to be fighting contenders.
Vianelo, Ajagbe or Anderson are all top rank fighters. A fight with any of the 3 would be a huge improvement.

Jalov should fight :
Guido or yoka next
Then Otto or efe or hunter after that
Then bakole or kabayal after that.
But to do that he will need some serious backing. He is one of the best amature heavyweights ever, but not just a putter patter headgear and accumulating points era guys. No headgear, scored rounds and plenty of stoppage wins….. add in he is 30, 6”7, 250lb and a southpaw, really shouldent be waiting about.

Because he is contractually obliged to Top Rank.
No idea what his team is waiting on. I would love to see him against the best the division offers
