I was about to say - this sounds like the DLH thing an exhibition in all but name and then realised it is actually on the DLH bill!

Really sad for me personally as DLH was one of my favourite fighters as a teenager and Haye well I will always think of my late dad and his own man love / crush for Haye. Including listen to Haye vs Bellew 1 on the radio in his death bed 2 days before he passed and him saying "yeah like me, Haye is fecked its finished".

I think these fights (exhibitions) will continue until one of the non boxers get really hurt and will then try sue the boxer , might make others think twice

It shows how poor a state pro boxing is in , in the states that these fights take up so much oxygen.

The promoters need to bang their heads together and work together.

Have needs to be VERY careful here. I have seen Fournier in action, he's like Paco from Bloodsport.

Yes the Mayweather exhibition didn't do the sport any favours, and while the Mayweather vs McGregor fight showed the levels between an actual boxer and an athlete - it also seemed to have done the sport no favours also (cos now we are getting influencers etc having a go).

Haye I know he is your made, but just knock him out or better still - make him turn his back.

I personally have no problem with exhibitions and freak show matches, because once upon a time in the sport they were common and frequently occurring. Virtually every heavyweight champion until the 1990s was involved in exhibitions, etc.

What I am glad about it all is that it has shown you can make a crap load of money by cutting out promoters. This has shown fighters that you can create your own destiny without having to depend on promoters.

How is this ridiculous myth that Fournier is a billionaire still doing the rounds?

Exactly, the big difference now is the internet has propelled this to a new level financially. Ali had exhibitions with a wrestler and an NFL player, also the much talked about fight with basketball player Chamberlain that never materialised. If the internet and money was about in those times Ali would have done exactly the same thing as these fighters are going now, just on a bigger level.

In the UK though this will quite feasibly get more coverage than "proper" boxing the mess things are with the TV.

BT Sports hardly promote their shows
Eddie promotes promotes promotes but is now on a marginalised streaming service

Sky Sports is still the "machine" and the go to place for many "sports fans" not necessarily boxing fans - and this is exactly the type of show you can see Sky going for.

Must admit, there will be something a tad nostalgic about Adam Smith going Ossssscar De La Hoya again.

Ali yes - but even still Ali's exhibitors were not as big as his proper fights. I mean KSI vs Logan Paul was "main eventing" a world championship undercard and did great numbers. There has been rumours (although I've not heard proper figures) that globally Mayweather vs Logan Paul did better than most other "proper" boxing cards.

I'm all for boxers wanting to earn some coin - as Ali did vs the Wrestler - but when it becomes "bigger" than proper boxing - then it is a problem and whilst if you propel 45 years later - Ali vs the Wrestler would make much more money now yes, it still wouldn't be near the event of say Foreman vs Frazier if that was held in 2021.

Beyond Ali and Foreman - I cannot think of two many heavyweights in the 1970s who were involved in exhibitions let alone in the 1980s and 1990s. They were not being held in the same frequency as they are now. I mean it feels like there is some kind of exhibition every month now.

He was.. Haye Promotions finished a while ago.

One person in the stable and that’s the founder.

They are mates tho.

He’s already explained why he’s fighting.

Imagine being mad over this

First he said he's not fighting beyond 30, then he clarified as retiring at 31.

Then in 2016 there were three comeback fights against handpicked opponents, one of which he knocked down with a standard jab.

Then there were the fights against Bellew, who exposed him as a shot, broken mess.

He had pushed his small frame too hard to go up to heavyweight and brought upon a string of injuries.

Another comeback is the last thing he should be doing. He's actually a pretty good co-commentator.

Amazing to think that Haye who actually brought interest back in the Heavyweights in the states and this is only his second pro fight in the states - so maybe also its a bit of a bucket list thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Haye has another fight after this - "Lets go champ".
