How can you get behind a lad who's having all this lardy dardy matchmaking?
I know it's not really how it works but I'd take a lad who is matched in hard (not thrown to the wolves) fights and even if they get beat they can hold their head up high and say they are doing what the majority of the sport isn't doing & testing themselves way harder than most of their peers
And I cannot fathom why a lot of folk get behind these s****y wins and don't feel the same regarding opponents, instead you've got absolute fools talking s**t about someone like Loma after one loss,a fool who probably couldn't run 2mile,let alone have a move about, too many run a boxer down and class him "finished" after losses, but if those losses are proper fights i think that career means so much more than all this padded by the promoter rubbish,
That's it mate same for meKiwiRider wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:55Well saidOiky wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:37 It's all getting a bit of a joke now

Some of the boxers I become a fan of, was for avenging a loss, or improving from a loss. It shows more grit coming back, especially from a hard KO or beat down.
Wait a minute, nobodys demanding he fights top top guys. FFS is it so much to ask he fights at British/Euro level and not against journeymen set up for him to wingregregegg wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:45 When he stops getting paid high risk money for low risk fights....
Honestly id like to see him just clean out brittish over the next year. Chris Jenkins, Chris Kongo, Josh Kelly, Ekow Essuman, Brook, Kahn... Need to let a couple of em get soft wins first so they are back in the green... mabey leave Michael McKinson, kinda a nightmare, unless his team like it. Mabey throw broner in there for an America fight. Jeff the hornet horn for an aus fight.... bam.
People were saying he was completly shit 2 years ago, those same people want him fighting top top guys now.... Its a bit confusing to me, do they think he went from completly shit to world levle in 2 years? or do they just wanna see him beat?
If people want to see him beat it's because he's being fed journeymen, skipping any fight at Area, English, British, Euro, Commonwealth and were being told hes the new Golovkin.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:52 probably wanna see him beat, like the guys who think tony yoka's best career move is fighting joe joyce next
Spot on mate, and it's all that stuff that partly has the sport on its knees at the moment.Oiky wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:37 It's all getting a bit of a joke now

He's come along in leaps and bounds and doing very well , but a bit of humility and accepting he's been given wins would go a long way
I don't think there is much confidence in his chin. I suspect he will revert to trying to slug his way out of trouble when he gets hurt and it won't work against a decent operator with a good dig.
Theres absolutly no confidence in his chin or his ability at an higher level
It's surprising to me that Hearn rates him as his top prospect, and i am not convinced his following is anywhere near as big as is being touted. The fact is, it isn't.
Doubt he rates him highly at all thats why he handpicks his wins ,, doubt his folowing is has big as they claim but they hope it to be , after all he's the son of Benn
Hearn seems to have a thing for any fighter with a big social media following. It makes his life easier if they're popular on Instagram, YouTube or twitter. They promote themselves so less work for him. The boxing ability is secondary.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 06:35 Benn has come along nicely to what he was, but I agree that the matchmaking has been on the cautious side. Bit unfair to compare Kelly to Benn, Kelly was a decent amateur and clearly has talent.peter barlow wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 08:02Hearn seems to have a thing for any fighter with a big social media following. Look what happened to "Pretty Boy" Josh Kelly another Instagram fighter. Absolutely smashed to pieces as soon as he fought a Euro level guy.
It's a joke mate,it's why the Olympics were so enjoyable,it was boxing how it should be,as an actual sport,it doesn't even feel like a legitimate sport the majority of the time nowadays, just who can wangle their way into top position in the easiest route possiblepeter barlow wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 06:14Spot on mate, and it's all that stuff that partly has the sport on its knees at the moment.Oiky wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 04:37 It's all getting a bit of a joke now

Agree on Essuman, he gives Benn trouble. The excuses are already being made in this thread, nobody knows him etc. Hes British champ. Who knows or gives a stuff about these Mexican punch bags Benn being carefully matched with.black panther wrote: ↑17 Aug 2021, 05:40 If he can get paid a wedge and they can make a wedge off him without risking him losing, they’ll continue to match him soft whilst telling us he’s the real deal and the casuals (who make up most of the viewership) will lap it up.
Can't blame them to be honest. It’s good business though unfortunately for us fans we won’t see competitive fights.
Would love to see him in with Essuman. In my book you don’t prove you’re above British level by beating up journeymen even if they’ve fought at a high level.
That's for the Brook fight
