Frankham disgraced the long line of fighting Frankhams. He later apologised to Davies but his behaviour and the behaviour of his fans could not be undone by mere words. It was left to Pinewood Starr's Les Stevens to restore some faith in the relationship between the travelling community and the fight game.

Ray Price v Geoff Pegler

Their first fight was a real cracker but crowd fighting in the cheap seats cut this one short.

You don't get to see too much, but it did go off proper.

I remember Ernie Loveridge getting lots of abuse once, had a pint chucked over him too, ending up jumping out of the ring and laying one of them out, then continued the fight but didn't get the decision!
Him and his missus did make a sharp exit afterwards as they had a baying mob after them!
Proper good bloke was Ernie.

I don't mean the entire travelling community but some of those involved in boxing at the time because it was a bad one. I dug out the report in Boxing News. Frankham had walked over to his opponent (Dagenham's Billy Sim) before the start and poked his tongue out. He then refused to touch gloves. His antics continued in the opener as he boxed with his hands down and got caught by a good right. Frankham went down but was up quickly. Sim attacked hard and landed another right. Frankham went down again, this time falling into the ropes on his way down. Frankham jumped up but stumbled and made his way unsteadily to a neutral corner instead of acknowledging referee Richie Davies, who quite rightly waved it off.
What followed made the front page of BN under the headline 'Anarchy!' as Frankham twice punched Davies in the face and stormed over to Sim and landed a head shot. Trainer Darkie Smith (who later also attacked a referee) tried to restrain his fighter but Frankham proved too big and strong. Board Secretary John Morris climbed on to the ring apron but met with a mouthful of abuse. Frankham's supporters gatecrashed the ringside enclosure and scuffles broke out. By this time, Sim and his trainer had safely left the ring but Davies required a police escort. (The Board had been worried about the behaviour of Frankham's supporters in Frankham's three previous fights.)
Inevitably, Frankham was banned sine die at a Board meeting two weeks later.

Oh yeah, Darkie attacked the Ref during his son’s attempt to wrest the WBU crown from Ricky Hatton. I remember that.

He bottled saying anything about a scathing Super Grass Warren in the post interview.

He looks a little unhinged and claims he can't remember yet also claims he hit with an open glove.

Any footage of the actual post fight punch? The show was televised on BBC (Horace Notice Dean Waters). I remember watching

There was a bad in-the-ring fracas when
Luis Lazarate lost his IBF title to John Riel
Camisero when the fight got stopped, a few
of his football hooligan chums took it to the
new champions cornermen when they were celebrating and nobody was
going to throw them out... that was pretty bad to be honest. :oo
