I`ve mentioned it before, Give Calzaghe Froch.

If Joe wins at least he fought a live opponent, and Froch is at a stage where he can easily come back.

And if Joe loses… ..well apart from the obvious,…… at least there’s less chance of Froch crying off every other proposed fight.

Calzaghe V Magee is better than I was expecting but not a good as I had hoped for.

It's an ok matchup just but style wise may not make for great viewing.

Well....at least it's better than a rematch with Veit, although I suppose we'll just have to look forward to that one.

Having said it's better than Veit, it's still not a great match. Magee has been proved to be very vulnerable, and Joe's not the kind of fighter to let his opponent off the hook. Hopefully Magee will be able to raise his game to a previously unseen level and manage to take Calzaghe a few rounds; however, my gut feeling is that this won't last past four. Calzaghe shouldn't be back fighting at domestic level (because that's all Magee is; a good domestic standard fighter), and the fact that he is can only be testament to the man's lack of ambition.

I very much doubt Magee would beat Veit.

Is this a WBO because Magee is not rated by WBO?

So no Arthur - Docherty on the telly, then? I suppose two British title-level fights trump one, but it's still a shame non-local fans will miss this one. It's annoying for me also because I've been wanting to go over to a fight card at the King's Hall for a while now (regardless of who's fighting - as long as it's full), but will not get the chance this night.

Never the less, I'd expect Calzaghe to bomb Veit out of there in double quick time. Even if they fought a hundred times, Veit would be lucky to hear the bell for the end of the second round just once.

Magee's probably not as good a fighter as Veit, but he has the advantage of not being totally tailor-made for the way Joe fights. He won't beat Calzaghe, hell, he won't even hear the final bell, but he has a better chance (although it's still pretty minimal) of surviving the first couple of sessions than the hapless German.

I think Veit is better than he showed last time, recent results seem to indicate that is the case. To be honest I'm not interested in any Calzaghe fight unless its for a genuine belt. The man is a fornicating moron.

And Calzaghe is on the slide bigtime.

I'd say Veit would be the bigger challenge at this point. Hopefully the WBO will strip Calzaghe for failing to face the interim champ (Veit) as instructed.

I dare say calzaghe would rather hammer nails up his japs eye rather than face reid.

Also, just a quick note in reference to the other thread about Calzaghe -- I'm not convinced that Magee is a stiffer test to Calzaghe for his WBO title than Rubin Williams is to Lacy for the IBF belt.

Horrible pointless match from a fans point of view. Magee will probably be scared, Calzaghe will probably be sluggish.
