Can anyone remember why Manny wasn't there? I seem to recall he was with another fighter that night, not that they fell out. I read an interview with Manny on the fight but cannot find it.

Number one, you wouldn't have to look much further than his kids I imagine.
And number two, he doesn't need your sympathy anyway.

Number one, his kids would be biased, and I was seeking an adult viewpoint.
And number two, who gives a f*ck if he "needs" my sympathy or not? I just said he didn't have it.

What isn't adult about not having sympathy for someone who abused and killed animals? You're a classic example of the kind of twat I was describing in an above post. I expect if the G-Man skull-f**ked you you'd still have sympathy for him. And why not... he is "a boxer" after all. You exist in a myopia...nonce.

I'm just sick of reading f**kwits like yourself, banging on about how McClellan "got what he deserved" - as if anyone deserves a fate worse than death, let alone McClellan.
So you "heard" he was mean to little dogs did you? So that makes it the gospel truth does it?

Do us all a favour and f**k off back to your bedroom will you? So we can all be spared your "words of wisdom" in future.

I "heard" in the sense that it is documented by his ex-trainer/manager (I forget which) and it was well known in such circles what he was up to.

You quote me as saying "he got what he deserved" but I was simply saying I have no sympathy when bad things happen to bad people. But you exist in a myopia where all boxers are good people and if something bad happens it's "simply awful"....

Funny how Michael Watson commands such respect and people feel nothing but pity for what happened in the Eubank fight. People don't seem to feel the same way about the G-Man. WHY??

Why would people make up lies about a guy already in a state like he is? What's to be gained? They were just asked and said it like it is.

Mightywarrior - you live in a myopia where your love of boxing clouds your judgement. You can't see anything outside the box you view these things in. How very sad. If Hitler wasa boxer you'd probably deny the Holocaust occurred. You are without question a twat.

Oh bore off. Who the bloody hell are you to stand in judgement and declare someone 'a bad person' just because he killed a fornicating flamingo and was into dog fighting.

Just because someone engages in practices of which you don't approve, does not neccesarily make him a bad person. Whilst I'm not keen on cruelty to animals, they are not human, and I reserve feelings as strong as yours for genuinely mentally disturbed individuals such as mass murderers, serial rapists and paedophiles, who represent a genuine danger to society.

One day, if you're lucky, you might understand that the world is seen in shades of grey, not black and white, that truth is subjective not objective. Let's say Mighty Warrior thinks you're a complete prick, your mum thinks you're great, who's right?

James - Quite..I'm declaring him what I declare him in MY OWN OPINION.

I'll say that again slowly...

IN...MY.....OPINION....... He was a nasty git, and Ihave no sympathy for him. But because hes a boxer, MightyWarrior is throwing his toys out the pram. If he was a Volleyball player MightyWarrior would probably agree with me. This is the absurdity of it.

I have a mice problem in my house lately. I killed 4 mice myself last week. Very brutally.

Would you have any sympathy for me if I was blind and deaf and needed my sister to help me wipe my ass??

Should I be tried for 4 life sentences since you hold animal life so dear?

Think about the G-mans desolate existance for a second.

I watched that fight live on tv... And I still remember how Benn headbutted McClellan ( I believe by accident ) and that is what caused McClellan to go down.... It WAS NOT a punch like the referee and everyone else claims since the fight.... It was a headbutt that caused McClellan the damage.

i can understand both sides of the argument here, while it is terrible what happened to gerald and I certainly dont wish it on him, he did by all accounts torture animals for no good reason which is pretty fornicating sick in my mind.

Id have more sympathy for him if he wasnt a sadistical fornicator in the first place without doubt, I do however appreciate the circumstances he is in.

Lets put it this way if somone tortured a dog in front of me, they may well find themselves in the same position Gerald is in now. I shit you not. I would not mess about if I saw someone doing that.

Theres is no need for it and that what Loftgroov is pissed off about I think, the needless and pointless suffering of a helpless animal for some once elses sick pleasure.

think you can sum up it in the old addage what comes round goes round in life.

lets leave it at that.

I beleive he was hurt early in the fight and his corner should have stopped it. Although I only saw the fight once its still etched in my memory and I remember feeling from about the 4th or 5th that Gerald had a problem as he was blinking constantly.
One of the problems with Gerald as a fighter was he was all offense and had very little defense... he took Benns punches full-blooded and that had a terrible consequence.
He does have my sympathy and I do wish him peace in his life, but I cannot forgive him for the animal cruelity.

Anyway, I've never seen the fight but I've read that McClellen took some brutal shots against Julian Jackson before the Benn fight this may have been a favtor in his injuries sustained against Benn?

In the same way Watson had took a lot of punishment from McCallum and Eubank before the tragic Eubank rematch?

Also Perat took a lot of punishment from Fulmer prior to his tragic fight with Griffith?

There seems to be a pattern here, just a thought.....
I think there is a lot of truth in that. Many fighters who have died after a fight have had a recent hard fight within the last few months or year.
Paret had a number of very hard fights, he was koed in the first bout with Griffith... absorbed a lot in their second fight and just a months before his 3rd fight with Emile, Paret took a heavy shellacking from Fullmer for the Middleweight title. I have a Ring magazine article from shortly after the tragic bout with Griffith and the writer say that no one had given Benny a chance at keeping his title because of the Fullmer fight and what happened was really not that much of a surprise.

i wathced it the other day and one of the commentators made a good point about how low benn was ducking in the first round. It was below the allowed waist line limit.

its kind of annoying because the gman is having to punch down on benn(yep they still have a great affect) but not as good as they would if benn wasnt ducking so stupidly low.

i feel sorry for gerald, I dont know him and have only read what things he has or hasnt done. But, I doubt anyone on this forum knows him personally, so we can only judge him on opinions, and everyone is bound to have a different one.

I have to say, no disrespect to Nigel, who showed the heart of a whale in there, but he got away with fornicating MURDERS that night. Constantly fouling, charging in with his head, elbows, rabbit punches, had the ref seemingly on-side, god knows why, and in all honesty should have been stopped in the 1st round had the ref been fair about it.

McClellan was cheated that night, and like Watson, who was also cheated out of his first victory over Eubank, paid the price with his health.

It's odd though, It's very hard to see exactly when McClellan starts blinking and sticking his gumshield out or what begins it. There is a clash of heads though which seems to really distress him a bit later on.

I think it was about the 3rd round when he started blinking... that should really have been a warning sign for people who are supposed to know as rapid blinking/eye movement is a dead give away to some sort of brain trauma. I'm sure that had the fight been stopped even at around the 5th or 6th rounds Gerald would be in a much better place today.
Those rabbit blows wouldn't have done him any good at all... which is why they are supposed to be illegal!.
Why was such a fucked up referee used?.... was he the cheapest one available?.... some of the responsibility must lay with the promoter.
