Are they wrong in this and several other articles?
It doesn't actually say he was the manager in that article. He may have had some kind of contract regarding management services of some kind, but in terms of registered manager with the BBBofC it was always Morrison.

This has a quote from FW about management services - surely that must mean he was legally his manager at some point?

The whole Burns/Warren saga was very sad. Ruling was that Burns owed Frank £170k, and Frank's liquidated company owed Burns £102k. How easily could that have been settled?.....
As it is, the racking up of Burns' legal bills and the findings against him meant he went bankrupt.
I hope that Burns has been well paid by Matchroom since then.

Blood money, Ricky should be retired, so many wars so many years, I worry how he’s gonna end up.
Some fighters are somehow ok after these sort of careers, but he shouldn’t be risking if, he must’ve made retirement money easily by now you’d hope.
Re: Ricky Burns Signs Deal with Schaefer’s Probellum
I’m sure he has had good paydays but he was made bankrupt when Warren screwed him after he left. Both had funds awarded against the other one but Warren was personally owed money whilst Ricky was owed by Warren’s company FW Promotions which was liquidated primarily to avoid paying.
yeah which is why im hoping he can make another payday, he fought good men, deserves to leave boxing with a good chunk of change. unfortunately for ricky he was dealing with one of the more astute promoters in warren.
It put me off Warren quite a bit. It’s astute in looking after his own money but it’s also part of the reason they have the Muhammed Ali act in the US whereby a promoter can’t also act as manager. It’s a big conflict of interest.
Yeah FW sent several cheques to pay Burns and they all bounced. After Mitchell fight it all went sour.
I’m same as yourself - no fighter whatever level shouldn’t be paid - the BBBOC shouldn’t have let him reform under new guise until the fighters had been paid.

Ricky was made bankrupt but word was and you had to imagine he had a nice little sum stored away. He's not in this fir the money, he's in it because he is obsessed with fighting and I worry he will just be fodder to up and coming prospects , the only thing that hasn't declined in Ricky is his toughness and balls and love of boxing, it is his whole life

Was it just the Mitchell fight he didn’t get paid for ? Or was there a few others. Shocking

I've got a lot of admiration for Ricky... I can well remember his lost to Carl Johanneson years ago and back then is suspected that he was British level and that he'd be doing well on the win Lonsdale Belt outright...
It was probably a harsh assessment, because at his best - Johanneson probably was a decent European-level fighter...
But Ricky winning them three World Championships was something incredible... He was on an incredible run of form for about 2 or 3 years there...
What age is Ricky now? Surely he must be getting close to the 40 mark? I'd like to see him call it a day, he was a World-Class operator and he has nothing more to prove...

Ricky took a terrible beating the night, but wasn't without his success. Many many other fighters would have been done, Ricky just sucks it up. never stopped, I'd rather he kept it that eay

I think it was just the Mitchell fight he wasn’t paid fully for (hence the award by the judge) but he was also paid late for several fights too.
After the Burns/Warren court case, Frank’s own lawyers took Frank to court over non payment of fees. His lawyers were on essentially a no win, no fee deal. Frank won part of the case re: unpaid management fees so his lawyers argued they should have been paid even if Frank didn’t receive any cash from Burns.
His lawyers won the case against him but who knows if they actually got paid.

Yep. Did the same with Calzaghe too. Judge awarded Joe £1.8m which he was owed by Frank for the Hopkins fight. Frank then wound up Sports Network to avoid paying the full amount.

It seems that Probellum isn’t a serious company & is just a Kinahan attempt at replacing MTK global with a new company without a tarnished name.
Hope they fail miserably & shame on everyone signing with them.

Probellum have made some interesting signings.
They’ve signed Sam Jones which is a real surprising one. He’s done great with S-Jam and all his fighters have got good deals and he’s been a good mouthpiece for them.
He would have need to have been well paid to move from his own company and it seems like they’ll try and make him the promotional face of Probellum in the U.K. He’s done a good job recruiting for S-Jam so I’m sure they’ll hope he does the same and may well take some of his precious stable over with him.
They signed Jim White too who I assume will be used as a main TV presenter for them. What TV network though?
They’ve also signed Ali Drew who’ll no doubt be an interviewer so it’s looking like they’re getting ready to properly launch over here.
I think I must have missed it but what’s the link with Probellum and MTK?
