Frank’s the one that does the detail work. Eddie is a face and frontman but it’s Frank who’s doing 90% of the fight deals. He’s a number 2 - every major boxing promotional company has one. Frank W has Andy Ayling, Bob has a couple in his stepson Todd Dubouef and Carl Mortetti.

These guys need a solid number 2 to make sure logistics are sorted and that everything runs smoothly. You say you don’t know what he does but it takes some skill to manage a team for a 6 hour live broadcast (the prelims and main card) with few issues and barely any adverts.

His role may be Boxing CEO but we all know Eddie’s the main man in their boxing promotional company.

I’m on the fence whether it was a bad move to leave Sky. On the whole I’m enjoying the DAZN shows and I’m getting value for money for my £8/month.

I think Sky has massively improved in their own publicity with Boxxer. I’m getting stalked constantly on Facebook by them with constant promotion and on YouTube too. Plus they’re pushing their shows more on YTube and on various more accessible channels. Bar the Prizefighter the shows on Sky haven’t been too good so far so I actually think they both miss each other.

We’ll need to give it another 12 months before saying whether it was a mistake or not. They/DAZN need to do more to get outside of the boxing bubble. There was talk about a terrestrial TV highlights deal which would help but clearly hasn’t happened yet. They need to do something like that.

Are we gonna hear ‘Eddie’s finished...’ like we have about FW for 15 years.

The Game Changed stuff was a global campaign from DAZN. Not just for U.K. boxing but for their worldwide sporting content.

I try to ignore all of the BS and politics and focus on the shows themselves. Whilst i wasn’t looking forward to the Kiko/Kid main event the closer it came I thought about how Kiko was never really in a bad fight but the rest of the good wasn’t bad. Nothing special but some decent competitive fights.

I didn’t think I got much value on DAZN in September but have done in October/November and will do in December based on the fights announced.

He needs cities to put shows on in & Galahad & Harper losing is a big blow as he’s already lost his north east fighters so he’s not got Newcastle anymore & it’ll be tough to put a show on in Sheffield that’ll sell enough now. There were only about 4,000 of us in there last night & in my block I don’t think there was anyone that had paid.

Unless he’s getting the majority of the Olympians he’ll be in a pickle as he’s got no Scottish fighters of note, only Cordina from Wales. Not everything can go in London, Liverpool or Manchester.

I don’t think it’s Frank that Eddie’s got to worry about, it’s Sky. Massive exposure to anyone that goes with Boxxer or you can be on a streaming service that barely anyone watches.

Yep, give sky a decent prospect and they can make them a star if they chose. Just drop a 15 second highlight reel either side of the football saying when and vs who there next fight is against.. done.

Harper sells a lot in Sheffield. Much more than the rest of the card combined.

It's the same with women's football on SKY, check the attendances to see what the real interest is. I'd say the obsession with womens football on SKY and using them as pundits is worse than boxing at the moment.
If they want to put women's boxing as main events/chief supports than charge a fiver to get in or give tickets out for free like they do for women's football.
If anything will kill boxing it is this treating the sports as equal

Terri Harper sold more tickets than anyone for the Sheffield show and Steve Levy probably sold more than most of the blokes. From a financial perspective it’s cheaper to have them on the shows and they can sell as many tickets (if not more in some cases) than the men.

I’ve said loads of times on here I don’t mind watching a good female fight. I enjoyed the recent Chantelle Cameron fight and whilst I thought Harper didn’t look right on Saturday I was very impressed with Baumgardner.

The issue I’ve got is the lack of depth. There were 2 women fights on the prelims and both were really poor and we’ve seen some world title fights where one of the women has looked really poor (the recent Marshall fight where the lady she was fighting was clearly well out of her depth and many others). The quality isn’t there yet for 3 women fights each show.

It’s not just Sky. The BBC the last couple of weekends have had both women’s premier league and women’s rugby union on their main channels whilst the men’s rugby that would drive viewers was on Amazon.

It’s comparatively very cheap content for them.
