Would this fight be at 200lbs or 190 lbs?
190lbs, because that's the WBC's official weight limit for the cruiserweight division.
Canelo told the media he'll enter the ring around the 180lbs mark.
Realistically is a daring challenge for Canelo no matter how you slice it or dice it! Yeah Makabu is not so good as Usyk, Gassiev or Mairis Briedis but he's a much bigger and stronger fighter.
As I said if Canelo will beat Makabu, Beterbiev, Bivol and Joe Smith , he would be an ATG.

I'd say he's already an ATG and a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer. At this point he's just adding icing to an already very sweet cake.

I just hope there's not a rehydration clause.

I said at the start of one of these threads canelo gets stopped. For some reason I though makabu was starching good names, must of got him mixed up in my head, his record is eh, and his kO power not what I remembered. No catch weight and No rehydration clause it’s still a very very tough fight for canelo, if he is in with a 205lb man he is going to know about it.

Makabu would get stopped by a middleweight? I don't know about that.

It probably would be a 10-15 lbs rehydration clause which is ok.

Canelo is very good at countering and setting traps. Also he has heavy hands. I think Canelo walks around 185-190 between fights. He's a stocky muscular dude.

Canelo does have heavy hands,. but it seems unlikely that power will carry up to 190.
It does look like this guy has good power, a lot of stoppages in his career.
I've rarely seen Canelo look hurt, and he has a huge jaw, neck and shoulder muscles, no sign whatsoever of any fragility there - let's see how he takes a 200 lb fighters shots.

Yeah, he may well do, but walkaround weight is a lot different to fighting weight.
I'm sure Makubu probably walks around at 220 when he's not training.

Thats why Canelo would put a rehydration clause in the contract.

There will be. There's a reason Canelo cherry picks the weaker champs, and styles that are his cryptonite. Rest assured he'll have every advantage possible.
He was asked why he isn't fighting Benevidez, and he replied "I can do what I want". Bivol is a good match too.

No matter how good you are, if you keep moving up the weights- at some point, the power stops carrying up. The only exception to that I can really think of was Hearns, but he had freakish power, and he also had the upper body of a heavyweight on a ligthweight's legs. He was basically Wilder with boxing skills.
Unless Makubu is forced to drain badly, and a ridiculous rehydration clause imposed, it seems improbable Canelo can stop him, but hey, never say never.

Well, Canelo learnt very well this craft from TBE.
But I think Canelo would fight Bivol, Beterbiev and Joe Smith.
Benavidez should push it for fights with Andrade(c/w, 168) or Zurdo Ramirez @175.

190 + 10/15 lbs rehydration?
Makabu should start getting in shape very seriously.

I am not fan of this fight but i am surprised that everybody calling this cherrypicking. Didnt noticed many middleweights who will cherry pick 200 lbs KO artist
Edit: still think this fight is not going to happen

As I said , this is a good fight and probably after GGG and Jacobs fights, Makabu is another good challenge for Canelo.
Of course most of us would've liked to see Canelo taking Mairis Briedis @ 200lbs with NO rehydration clause

, but let's be honest if Makabu is getting in shape very seriously, he ain't gonna be a walk in the park for Canelo.

True. I guess the fight would be at 200 lbs for Makabu but only on the fight night. 190 lbs + 10 lbs rehydration clause.

Btw on a funny note, Canelo once said in 2015:
"If he wants to fight with me, let him come down to 155 and I'll fight him whatever day he wants."
"At this moment, my body isn't ready for 160 pounds. Maybe 1 or 2 more years I'll be ready for 160, I don't know, but I'd be delighted to fight someone like Gennady. He's a great fighter and I think it would be a great fight. I'd be delighted to get him in a fight."
Now Canelo has no moving up in weight issues. lol
Canelo knew that in 2015 GGG would hurt him.

190lbs, because that's the WBC's official weight limit for the cruiserweight division.
Canelo told the media he'll enter the ring around the 180lbs mark.
Not saying its not the WBCs new weight limmit, but can you explain how Richard Riakporhe just fought for the vacant WBC silver belt at 199lb?
