But you have to turn profit at some point or have assets, or keep growing revenue at rapid pace.
As I've said elsewhere, DAZN's strategy has pivoted at least twice since COVID.
In the UK, it became about Sports betting, and probably just at the worst possible time given the increased legislation.
Sports betting on boxing must be worth 2 bob. How many decent bets can you have on 1/100 shots ?

I can’t understand what the long term strategy is for DAZN, especially with this supposed attempt to buy BT.
I don’t care what fight they put on, I for one will not be risking paying for a PPV fight on an internet stream. Despite having a high speed, my picture quality watching DAZN is nowhere near that of Sky/BT.
If they buy BT sport then yeh, why not have it on BT PPV?
This thread is saying though, DAZN PPV will be a TV channel
According to Bricktop, he’s also got the exclusive to BT Sport PPV (Canelo etc having to be approved by him) so that option seems blocked. I don’t have much faith in DAZN tbh.

The amount fish eyes kept repeating that "exclusive deal" stuff makes me think he is a bit shakey on how good his contract will hold up. Sounded like he was trying to convince himself...

It will depend largely on how much (and for how long) they can convince their investors. I know a completely different industry but in the agriculture in the UK the big farmers are making huge huge losses, the smalller holders will often cut even / make small money. However, no guesses which of those two types of business can secure the huge (multi million) pound loans from banks and those who the bank won't even borrow a 5 figure loan too.
Its the big farmers who have to top of the range implements, employ multiple staff and can afford lavish Holidays, whereas the small holders have to make work 24/7 and can't afford any implements to make their lives easier. Yet, I know which bank account will be in the black and which one will be in the red (and will continue to be so).
As I said I know its different industry but if Dazn can convince investors "look we need to get the UK premiership to start turning over a profit" - then they will get it.

I have super fast broadband and the streaming quality goes from UHD to fuzzy AF constantly.
Surely they’ll need a channel on SKY…. Probs the ones in between phoning MILFs for 2 quid a minute and some African preacher channel.

Did you expect to see AJ or Fury as part of the monthly subscription?
In fairness I think Eddie’s comments re: PPV we’re in relation to the US where the market is just being abused with constant PPVs.
I’ll happily criticise if the likes of Whyte/Wallin is moved on to DAZN PPV but let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

No, but I`m thinking more about Fights like Parker v Chisora and other mediocre fights. If Hearn can squeeze a PPV out he will

Yes it will start fine, but then it will get diluted and then the myth that if you beat a PPV star, you are then also a PPV star...e.g Bellew and then Usyk.
Whyte shouldn't be on PPV, even if he upsets Fury. And no Fury vs Wallin should never have been on PPV.

Does anybody know if this is an actual channel, which would sit on the Sky/virgin platform or is it internet based?
These days, I’m not sure most people are happy having to do some registration process to buy PPVs.
The convenience of being easily able to press the button to book events is very significant IMO

And if those kind of fights do become PPV then I’ll be first inline to criticise. That’s anti what’s being said at the moment though so I’ll wait before putting the boot in.

It will be a TV channel as they’ve requested a license for it. No idea on what platforms they hope for it to be on though.

DAZN have been advertising the Parker fight on nz terrestrial television. Which is a bit weird because you can PPV it on Sky Box Office as well.

They editorialise it that certain fights can’t get made without PPV. I think that makes sense when you’re talking AJ/Usyk or Fury/Whyte and I’d be fine to pay ppv for those.
The issue for me will be if the level of a PPV show decreases to a Whyte/Wallin or something similar as then it’s exactly the same model as Sky. They’ve said that won’t be the case so hopefully that’s correct.
It doesn’t cost much to request a channel license but they’ll have to buy the TV slot from someone which can be expensive - particularly if they want it on freeview. Will Sky be happy to sell them one?
Money for Sky why not.
I agree, if it's huge fights like AJ-Usyk or AJ-Wilder or Tyson-Usyk/AJ
then yes, they are ppv fights.
But if they start putting Whyte-Wallin or Benn's fights on PPV, then no, they are not gonna sell and I will cancel the sub.
How much do you reckon Benn is paid per fight at the moment.
Purse wise? not including endorsements.. like £100k to £200k per fight? or more?
More. He’ll be on £300-£400k I think. Crazy money.
I'd be shocked if Benn was getting £100,000, not as much as you think. The money is not there for these shows

Eddie wouldn’t have gone over unless he was getting large funds for the fights. They also turned down £500k plus PPV upside for Avanesyan as it wasn’t nearly enough (Conor himself said that he earns that kind of money now) whilst Eddie said they needed 3 times that and Conor needed more experience.

Couldn't believe they had ads between rounds on a streaming site that we pay to see, since Hearn moved everyone from sky to DAZN they have gone about things the total wrong way,I like to hear what the corners are saying between rounds but now, like sky,we have to watch a number of betting ads instead of what we pay for, boxing!

Warren could have offered £3m + upside and Eddie would have still said it wasn’t enough- that’s just his stock response on the few occasions that Frank has sent an other for one of his kids.
Eddie said, he needs one more and than he would look at Avanesyan…well they had that now, and strangely enough there was no talk about it.
Instead, they will probably claim in the coming days that they have gone past Avanesyan after beating up an old, feather fisted Algeri.
Next will be somebody like Josseito Lopez, or Eddie will dig up Corey Spinks or Devin Alexander.

Say what?

Was this on DAZN?
Advertising of other things besides what is coming up on DAZN?
I left the service a few months back, just because it was underperforming for someone who only wants boxing matches and not other garbage.
There was no advertising back then.
Seems a bit of cheek.
