"Former heavyweight champion Ruiz Jr was the highest earner at $1 million, with opponent Chris Arreola getting $300,000."
Hell... isn't Charr vs Bryant a 1 million dollar fight that will never happen?
Team Ruiz isn't going to sacrifice Andy to Ortiz and the only way Ortiz takes a fight like that is if he is certain that he will beat Andy.
A Filip Hrgovic fight should get close to that 1 million dollar mark and if it doesn't then what's the point really?
Here's hoping that Luis Ortiz gets the Tyson Fury fight and a nice retirement paycheck, he has earned it.
And EO you can be right since it means so much to you.
It’s claimed that Luis Ortiz was paid $1.5m for the Charles Martin fight, which was the same purse that Andy Ruiz Jr. received for beating Chris Arreola.
Filip Hrgovic would have only been paid a career-best purse of $243K based on the winning purse bid for the Michael Hunter IBF eliminator (that ultimately fell through).
For the record, Michael Hunter withdrew from the IBF eliminator because he received a deal from Triller that was paying him around the same $600K figure to face journeymen that he would have received fighting Filip Hrgovic.
I’m going to keep making the same point over-and-over again, until you finally acknowledge it, you won’t see any legitimate top-ten world-rated heavyweight fighting the anonymous Filip Hrgovic for peanuts.
No one is going to willingly accept a pay cut to fight that guy!
And if Matchroom and Wasserman flatly-refuse to invest in Filip Hrgovic’s career, then don’t expect rival promoters to do their job for them.

I hope they talk directly to Ortiz, not his management. They have turned down offers before without talking to him. As a fan of Ortiz's skills, I will be extremely disappointed if he turns this down. I'd settle for Ortiz vs Ruiz, but don't think Ruiz will take that risk. Strap on your nuts Ortiz! I think he has a decent shot to win vs Hrgovic. Ortiz had one round in about 2 yrs before Martin, so was not only older, but rusty too and it showed.

Agree.
The reason I'm not so fussed about it is that I think Hrgovic will smash him, whereas if the other option is Ruiz, it will be possibly a little less one sided.
I'm not a fan of any individuals in the mix, but as a boxing fan I just want the most competitive option.

He's ancient and just turned down a final eliminator. Can you think of a boxer who's has had a worse managed/advised career? He's been gifted undeserved opportunities left, right and centre and has turned down a few while wasting others.
Parker Vs Hrgovic is a good fight. Realistically this should be an eliminator for a final eliminator but I'll take it given the lack of high level match ups.

Hope Joe takes it. I actualy back him, the problem is I think joe will stay loyal to the WBO. WBO have been good for him (excepet when they leapfrogged DDD over him in the rankings), fair chance parker gets a vacant WBO shot vs Joyce this year, which is bigger money, his belt of choice, but in my opinion a harder fight for joe.

You've been gifted undeserved opportunities left, right and centre. Not sure if your job is scrubbing toilets or standing in the wellfare line but either way it's way more than you deserve and you know it.

Well… some people attacked me for my opinion, but once again I’ve been proven to be 100% correct!
I’m sure there’s a few people that recently argued with me, passionately asserting that Ortiz doesn’t reject bouts, because all of his world-rated peers are far too scared to fight him!
But hasn’t the Cuban rejected guaranteed opportunities to fight Joshua, Whyte, Joyce, Wallin, Ustinov and Hrgovic?
Anyway, in six months time, all of this will be forgotten and someone will adamantly refuse to believe the “fearsome” Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz refused to consider fighting Filip Hrgovic!

I'm sorry that I offended your grandfather but facts are facts. Maybe if you weren't so willing to humiliate yourself in his defence then he would be a champion or at least a much richer man. Some people, like yourself and Ortiz, will be forever dumb. Unsalvageable braincells from being hit in the head too many times?

Yep, I agree with that.
I could see the fight being profitable if it was held in NZ. But after his two big paydays vs Chisora I don't think it will match those.
Parker is high in the rankings of the 4 belts, seems odd he is paying the dues and would turn down an eliminator

Hope Parker at least sees what’s on the table. Dosent have to actualy go to bids, just see what eddies best offfer would be. Couple of million and In NZ would be worth it. Hard to see that happening considering the commercial value of hrgovic. Like it or not parker gets paid big so he isn’t going to start getting paid little for risky fights.

“It appears that Luis Ortiz just (withdrew),” Nisse Sauerland, Hrgovic’s co-promoter informed Boxing Scene on Tuesday.
Next up is Joe Parker

In the last press meeting before the Martin fight, Ortiz said to everyone there, he is coming for any of the heavyweights in the way of a title.
https://www.BS.com/luis-ortiz- ... le--163196
And 4 days later he ducks the heavyweight standing in the way of him getting a title

I don't blame him, but it's hard to take him seriously.

But he hasn't had another big offer. He is straight up ducking. And based on his last performance, fair enough
