Doubt they'd be on any of those platforms for a small hall show?
Every new pro who gets his/her licence has ticket deals, including the risks, explained to them (even going through a worked example - I spent hours of my life listening to that one and could recite it in my sleep), so they are warned all about the ins and outs of ticket deals. On the local Council I was on, that included advice such as "Make sure your mates buy from you and not on the door, as you won't get the sale", and so on. But ultimately it is the boxer's risk.
Re another point on this thread (and I am not speaking for the Board), it's not for the Board to start running the finances of the show - the Board is only a regulatory body, and I'm not aware of any regulatory body, in sport or otherwise, that does this. If it did, how much new IT infrastructure and how many new employees would that take, and how would it be paid for, checked, paid back/out to the fighters? Plus what about those purses paid in cash? It's a well-intentioned thought, but I can't see it working.
Real question is "how do we get from where we are now to having more competitive fights?", which is really asking "how do we get fans to buy tickets to see shows, not to watch a particular fighter?" Not an easy one.
As a slightly random aside, if you're interested in matchmaking, purses and shows (and how hard it was and still is to make any profit without TV), Russell Peltz's recentish autobiography "Thirty Dollars And A Cut Eye" is a fabulous read, and I don't say that lightly. While it relates to the US market rather than the UK, Peltz's obsession with making competitive matches for the fans rather than for the fighters is likely to appeal to many of the posters on this thread. (Jonp - maybe you should start writing your own one?)
