IJL should have been struck off years ago, he is useless as both ref and judge.
Victor is still the best ref in the country imo, but his scorecard last night was awful. It isn't the first time either.
Mcdonnell always gets far too involved in fights, I know the fight got messy at times but why can't he ever just get them to fight it out on the inside?
As a country, particularly one that likes to consider itself a bit of a boxing hotbed, we deserve better officials. Robert Smith needs to be replaced by someone willing to hold these guys to account.
If they can't get rid of them, then at least extra training and a temporary ban on officiating televised World title fights for refs or judges who put in terrible displays could be the answer.

BBBOC are old fossiles. Need to change their ways. New blood. even see a female judge/referee come up the ranks.
Come on now mate, we're all upset, but think rationally for a second

Thats what i was thinking. If multiple top promoters went to a parliament type levle could they tear it down and start again... Or at least make a 2nd commission so its not a crook monopoly. .
Stripped by who though?
Exactly, they are a self appointed closed shop and not a government body.
Like when Luca tried to start MBC a few years ago it was the BBBofC who threatened boxers by saying they couldn't fight for British titles etc.
The problem is that only a very small number of boxers have the power to do anything and the rest are expendable- eg. Haye got away with boxing under Luxembourg and Fury was able to do what he did with the drug testers but very very few others are in a position to do the same.
The government could pass legislation to make its own statutory body the sole legal commission over boxing. I hate to say it, but with the performance of the BBBC in recent years in judging, I would actually now endorse that - we need some accountability. I suspect they're currently occupied elsewhere now though

It's an old article from last year, but well worth trotting out again.
We've created our scoring system, to create detailed scorecards, as a very real, implementable system that COULD help weed out these shitty judges. Or at the very least, put some accountability on them.
We know that changes can't be drastic...but digitising scorecards (so we get instant results at the end of the fight, no delays while they tally up), and add some reasoning for each round, adds some much needed transparency and inevitably accountability.

The only thing that will actually make a difference is if the big players outside of the old boys club take a stand.
Broadcasters should object to officials like IJL from appearing on their shows, saying the ineptitude causes them to lose potential viewers and advertising revenue, and bookies should refuse to take bets on fights where he’s appointed, saying they can’t trust the outcome will be fair for their punters.
That’s the sort of thing which will invite real scrutiny, the BBBoC will do fvck all unless external pressure forces their hand.

Said before, Laughlin is/was a great ref but has always been a terrible judge.

Given whoever filled out the master sheet doesn't know how to write the scores, and given that Robert Smith has allowed them to go public with errors on, fills me with no hope of the BBBofC in it's current form.

Could the BBBoC be stripped/replaced of their duty overseeing British Boxing?
The BBBOC is not fit for purpose. I can't work out why people still pay a licence fee to them when this is the service they get.

If you don't pay their fee, you can't work.

There is no alternative.
There are a very small number of boxers/promoters who could actually force change but it either isn't interests or they don't give a fook so nothing changes.

I’m not sure. One of the BBBoC’s company directors sometimes posts on here but I could fully understand him not wanting to get into a discussion about it.

Kin 'ell what a mad fight, talk about a smash and grab from Gill, Guerfi had a decent opener caught Gill with some sneaky right hands but Gill boxed his way into things, some nice boxing on show darting in and out mixing it to head and body but Guerfi stopped spending as much time on the ropes in the 6th and began getting his shots off , dropped Gill in the 7th with a top drawer left hook, the wrestling slam after was dangerous, could've knocked Gill out and seriously injured him, it was deliberate so Guerfi lucky not to get penalised
Gill just didn't look right from then on spent the remainder of the fight in his corner in defensive mode, got wobbled again with another left and I didn't like what I was seeing he looked done then bang out of nowhere nailed Guerfi with a monster right hand and knocked him out, outrageous stuff, he did land a similar shot the previous round so there were warning signs for Guerfi but Gill stole it out the bag, incredible

Outrageous decision, one of the worst I’ve ever seen.
Jamie Moore spoke brilliantly after and cut right to the heart of a travesty.
When I heard the judges names I knew these were house referees, well trained lap dogs, and I’m talking about two of them, John Lewis was nailed on to f**ck it up somehow.
Marcus Mac was a nightmare too, turning in to the Marcus mcD show.
Catterral, what a performance of a lifetime, Josh looked weight drained and bad on the scales, and clueless with the crafty Jack as well, he needs to move up the 147, and he doesn’t wanna be mixing with Jack again, cause he’ll get another thrashing, unbelievable as it seems.
Ben Davidson useless in the corner, f**cked up the training by the looks of it as well
