Hello. I'm confused. Is this a boxing website or a political website? I noticed that there is a "political & religion" forum available on the "Off Topic" section. So why aren't these Russia/Ukraine threads on that section? Why are there only Ukranian boxers on the "#1" part on the main page photo? A 16-2 female fighter (Alina Shaternikova photo of holding a gun) is viewed as being ..... #1?!? Or is it simply because she's Ukranian? Surely there are MANY other current boxers throughout the world that have struggled and fought against political oppression and violence (ex; Cuban & Venezuelan boxers). So why only Ukraine boxers on the man page?!?
It seems that political discussion has infiltrated the Current Scene section. Which is a bummer. I enjoy this website because it helps me (and others here) to get away from all the division that's constantly pushed by the main stream media and politicians.
If anything the discussion of the WBA/WBC/IBF and WBO Xenophobia against Russian boxers and officials warrants a thread in the Current Scene section. Russian boxers and officials are being penalized and persecuted because of the actions of others.

Is it reasonable to consider that sometimes there’s an inevitable overlap between current events, a bit like what we see with a Venn diagram?
Oleksandr Usyk, Vasyl Lomachenko and both Klitschko brothers have returned home to defend their country.
Some websites are reporting that Vitali Klitschko has admitted to killing six people.
Therefore, today (as in the current scene) you have boxers engaging in a conflict against Russia.
We also have the various governing bodies refusing to sanction bouts involving Russian fighters.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine does not exist in isolation, since it affects the sport of boxing today.
Are we supposed to ignore how this conflict has affected the sport of boxing (i.e. in the context of current and former pros)?

They had the brothers on the BBC news yesterday, daft questions by the interviewer seemed to rile them.
Here's a shortened version of that interview:

I do not agree with the Western assertion that Russia is the aggressor here. NATO and the West also bear a good amount of responsibility for what is happening in Ukraine.
Having said that, I 100% sympathize with any loss of life in this conflict, on all sides, civilian and servicemen. I do wish absolute safety to the people of Ukraine and the Klitschko Brothers.
Political agreements and disagreements aside, this is not a dispute the Ukrainians can win. Kiev is going to fall. There will be an ongoing Ukrainian insurgency, but officially, the city will fall within days maybe even within 1 day. Russia is a World Military Superpower and has far superior weaponry. It's not a "fair fight" for the Ukrainians to defend themselves and surely, the Klitschkos and Ukrainian establishment has to know that.
God Bless the Klitschko Brothers, they are as tough as they come and every man should respect what they are doing even if you don't agree with it. That said, if you're fighting a losing fight, you are better off laying down your arms than sacrificing yourself. Live to carry on the fight in another way on a different medium. We all have principles, but it doesn't make someone less of a man for putting their own life above those principles.
I pray calm decisions will be made and I wish the Klitschko Brothers absolute safety. Real shame that things have progressed to this point. No need for anyone to go out on their shield in a one sided fight. If you're in an overmatched fight, better to put down your arms and live another day.
Vitali Klitschko about 24 Hours ago said Russian forces had encircled Kiev, cutting off evacuation routes and any possible supplies.
Agree. I think that there is much more to this than Putin woke up in a rage and launched an attack on the Ukraine.
I just hope and pray the situation can be resolved ASAP and innocent Ukrainian people are no longer the sacrificial lambs of a political war.
Do you two also think that Canada should invade and bomb Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, just because they feel threatened that the Americans might do such things to them?
What I'm seeing is that Putin is trying to let Russia go back to the Sovjet Union time again, trying to take over the places that used to be part of the USSR and uses the same tactics as they use North Korea to fool his own population. Refusing democacy and hating Ukraine for accepting democracy and doing very well ever since.
I don't live in North America, so add some context please. What is the historical and political past between Canada and America? Are there any agreements in place regarding NATO and not joining and setting up bases in Canada?
You've tried to add 2+2 and have got 75. I'm confident that there are no parallels between Russia/Ukraine/Nato and America and Canada.
Nobody has said that it is okay for Russia to launch missiles at Kiev.
What are you talking about?

I get what you are saying, but when nuclear war is threatened from a major power, boxers lives are in danger, some things are bigger than the sport of boxing. The shorter answer is, if the owner of this site allows it, it's allowed. We all should be a little bit worried.

Likely fake news - I highly doubt Putin wants the optics of celebrity Klitschkos' heads on sticks.
Maybe he will hire David Haye for that
