He should fight DelBoy. It might not be what the serious fans want but the casuals will lap it up
Why would he jeopardise a rematch with Usyk by fighting a dangerous opponent especially if he’s trying to take on board information and get accustomed to what’s expected from a new trainer.
If he stops him team AJ and particularly Eddie will be so excited that AJ’s done what Usyk didn’t do and the hype train will start to pick up speed

They’re mates - it won’t happen.

I could agree with that if they’d grown up together as best mates from primary school but casual friendships surely don’t make them disinclined to earn a lot of money.

Delboy, really? He is shot, barely ever wins and has a boring style. I'd be surprised if anybody other than you, Del and Dave Coldwell would call for this.

It’s not a fight I’d like to see it’s a fight that I think makes sense from AJ’s perspective and a fight I think is a lot more likely to happen than Wilder or Joyce fights

I see. It's certainly an easy fight for AJ, I suppose.

Wilder or Shades for me, returning the ball to Fury if he beats either. Also makes perfect sense for them to challenge AJ at this point in their careers.
I'd rather not Joyce because I think AJ might beat him, whereas I think he's a nightmare for Fury, so I'd like that one first. Else Fury won't fight him. But then again, if Joyce beat AJ...
Voted Wilder.

Not a chance in hell he goes in with Wilder or Joyce.
Wallin or Hellenius will get the call

no way it will be wilder, agreed. dude just said he isnt sure he ever wants to box again, and is using psychedlics to help him decide. just got brutally ktfo and ko'd 2x in a row, hasnt won since 2019. he isnt ready to fight again, let alone for it to be joshua in a couple months. if wilder does fight again, it will involve an all PBC ppv vs andy ruiz im pretty sure. either straight away, or with a patsy first, not aj
agree, it'll be a wallin or helenius. wallin is much more similar to usyk, if that's what they are going for. wallin also hasnt been seen in the uk putting in a totally bizarre losing performance, like helenius did vs whyte
he did do this to big tyson though, they can show the gore again and again

Really depends what he is trying to do. If he is continuing his career then they are all good options (except Martin)
If he is focusing on usyks then Otto is the clear pick. Low risk, southpaw camp, get a southpaw win under your belt, and although worlds apart in talent probably the most similar to usyk at heavy or cruiser (if I were AJ I would be open to fighting a cruiser if they had simarlaritys to usyk).

Is any acceptable fight a safe fight for Joshua. All the top men have seen his vulnerabilities (physical and mental) now, he can be bullied and he sulks. I don't think anybody decent will be scared of fighting him which makes for relaxed, improved performances. For me, he's a busted flush except with casuals and should take the fight that pays best and that is the winner of Fury v Whyte. No risks needed until then, unless it's Wilder, which would also be big money.

Joyce deserves it.
Ortiz will get it.
I want it to be Wilder.

a lot of people say aj's too timid and that would get him ko'd vs wilder, but wilder said he's not sure if he wants to box ever again, plus he's been ko'd 2x in a row rather than just getting decisioned once. im not really sure on his confidence or desire now either, he seems to get a pass for that and ppl just assume dude is gonna be bold vs josh or something. almost 37 too
it wont be him though, not a chance. dont think it will be any pbc fighter. wallin makes sense stylistically for usyk and will be cheaper, my bet is on him.
would kinda like to see him ko ortiz too, just because i've grown sick of ortiz over the years with him saying joshua is ducking him, only for the guy to reject a career high payday once offered

Luis Ortiz, Otto Wallin, and Joe Joyce Offer to Fight Anthony Joshua in Interim Bout
If Anthony Joshua does not end up getting his immediate rematch with heavyweight titlist Oleksandr Usyk, the British star will not lack for suitors.
Because of the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, Usyk, who is currently back home in Ukraine, may not be in a position to defend the heavyweight titles (WBO, WBA, IBF) that he wrested off of Joshua last September at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) and Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) agreed to a rematch this summer and were planning on a venue when the Ukraine crisis exploded on the world stage in late February.
Should that scenario become a reality in the next few weeks, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, suggested recently that his charge could take up an interim bout in the summer.
Both Hearn and Joshua have come out and said that they wish to contract the services of a legitimate top-rated contender, not a tomato can, for the potential interim bout. Joshua himself has suggested a slew of top-rated opponents, including Otto Wallin and countryman Joe Joyce. Hearn noted that Joshua would even be open to facing former heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder.
One heavyweight who was not on Joshua’s short list recently threw his hat in the ring: Luis Ortiz, the Cuban southpaw, whose name has been linked with Joshua’s for the past few years.
“Luis 'King Kong' Ortiz would love an opportunity to step up to the challenge of facing Joshua,” Ortiz manager Jay Jimenez told Sky Sports.
A few of the heavyweights on Joshua’s shortlist reciprocated the heavyweight’s interest, like Swedish southpaw Wallin, who tried to pitch Joshua on why he is the best candidate for an interim bout. Unlike Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs), who looked shaky in his last bout against Charles Martin, and Joyce, who is not a southpaw, Wallin believes he is the ideal opponent for Joshua specifically as it relates to preparing for Usyk.
"I'm by far the best option here," Wallin posted on his Twitter.
"Wilder is coming off back-to-back KO losses against Fury that I took the distance and sent to the hospital to get 47 stitches.
"Ortiz got dropped twice by Charles Martin that Joshua wiped out in 2 rounds. I think Joe Joyce could give AJ a good fight but he's nothing like Usyk.
"The only reason Joshua wouldn't pick me as the opponent is because they know I'm a big threat and I'll hand him his third loss.”
The 31-year-old Wallin (23-1, 14 KOs) made a name for himself in 2019 for his better-than-expected effort against WBC heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury.
As for Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs), the 36-year-old was all ears to Joshua’s call out.
“Two GB Lions in an all British Heavyweight Showdown!” Joyce tweeted.
“This fight would be massive. I’m highly ranked and undefeated. Let’s Get It!”

Joshua is yesterday's chip paper however if he wants any credibility he should face at least someone that could test him. Maybe Joshua v Joyce, that would sell out and I think even myself would pay £23-99 for the ppv show.

Absolutely no chance Wilder would be an interim fight for anyone. He’s just too dangerous a puncher, even though he’s shit.

Wilder absolutely eclipses Fury-Whyte in terms of interest, so much so that there's no way Wembley could accommodate it. AJ-Joyce is a Wembley summer fight to rival Fury-Whyte and is the absolute best fight that could be made for the British fans.
Hearn won't want either, but AJ's ego might override Fast Car's greed. AJ-Joyce will do huge numbers in the UK, and AJ will be desperate to out-do Fury.
Anything else should not be acceptable to UK fans.
I couldn't care less about AJ-Wallin, and anything less than that I doubt I'll even watch, let alone stream.
Wilder or Joyce, take my money.

Can't see them taking any risks for an interim fight.
They're probably just waiting for Broner to hit rock bottom before Hearn is confident enough to make the offer.

I just meant they'd sell it out just as quick and the PPV's would probably be higher.
I'm going to Fury-Whyte, by the way. When I read your post about there being coach deals available, I figured that was the only way to get tickets so I bought some for me and my best mate. If I hadn't read that, I might have never got tickets. The tickets we got are now on StubHub for over five times the price.

Exactly, they just throw out big names like Wilder or Joyce but we know it won't be.
Probably be a Parker rematch or another blighter who doesn't carry much fire power.
