Sad news

Very sad news indeed and todays news has numbed me to the soul even though this was kind of expected.

RIP Champ.......a true gentleman

that is so upsetting all the best to his family , a very decent fighter looked like a young man in his fights really sad

A story about Pottsy:

I an extremely sad today, Pottsy is no longer with us.

My pal Ralph O'Neill and I used to lo love going to see Pottsy box, and i think he loved us too as we were always given access to his dressing room prior to fights. As normal there was always loads of “In the gutter” humour.

I remember Pottsy saying to myself & Ralph that he was going to take his career mega serious and he was going to seek the advice of a nutritionist. We went away excited.

A short time later myself & Ralph went to York Hall, Bethnal Green to see a show but didnt expect seeing Pottsy there, so you can imagine our horror at seeing Pottsy next to the Hot Dog stand stuffing his face with 2 extra large Hot Dogs. Well, suffice to say we ripped f*ck out of Pottsy who was apologetic and embarrassed. He said he would do a forfeit.

On Pottsys next fight he agreed to wear a t shirt with a massive Hot Dog printed on the front. And his fight was on tv which made things funnier.

I am going to miss Mark.

Rest Easy my friend you fought your last fight with loads of courage and determination of a champion.

Sad to hear. His fight with Williams was incredible to witness. He was at the York hall once, in the crowd about a row away. I didn’t appreciate how big he was, his T-shirt looked sprayed in. I think he was out of boxing by that point and dabbling in mma.

Shocking and terrible news. Such a big, strong, fit man. Thoughts with his family.

Sad news. That man could fight

Met Mark in a pub. I think he might have been the Landlord, or manager.
An absolutely lovely guy.

Sadly I never had the pleasure of meeting Mark but my son boxed on the undercard of the Potter v Butterbean show in Blackpool.

He said his first impression was; 'one of the most intimidating looking men he'd ever met' but then Mark went out of his way to introduce himself to every fighter on the card and briefly chat about their careers, and my son said he was the 'nicest bloke you could wish to meet'

It's an utter tragedy he's been taken so soon, my thoughts go out to his family.

You've probably all seen this but it's well worth watching again.

Those of you that want to know a bit more about Mark and what a decent guy he was, then this is worth a watch.

Its rightfully called 'one tough bastard' and is about 40 minutes long. It was filmed only last year, before he was diagnosed with his cancer. RIP buddy.

I remember watching that when it happened, really nice clip. Always makes me chuckle when Mark starts playing the heel after spinning his opponent around and he accidentally falls over.
