Fury is a dirty fighter (to his credit, I think every champion needs that in the locker) and he gets away with all sorts of stuff.
I also think it would have been a huge ask for Whyte to recover from that shot, even with the break between rounds. But he has a valid argument, it was a shove, and had he not been shoved he may have been able to clinch or drop forward to his knees. Going flat on his back made it much more difficult for him to beat the count.
Whyte is lying to himself to stay relevant, maybe Eddie has told him to run damage control?
